Chapter 48

Jay clenched his fists as Griz drove him over to Thario’s house. Their friend was working on getting information from local traffic cameras. He hoped by the time they got there, they would have an idea of what type of vehicle they needed to chase.

Griz stopped the car, and he glanced up, realizing they were right outside Thario’s home. He opened the car door and jumped out, racing up the walkway to the front. He didn’t even knock, just burst in, causing Frog to bark.

“Calm!” Thario’s command got Frog to stop barking, though he still grumbled like he was telling Thario that he hadn’t been wrong to sound the alarm.

Thario met Jay’s gaze. “I have it.”

“Do you know where they went?”

Thario shook his head. “Not yet.”

The rest of the guys filtered into the house, and Frog whined. The dog was smart. He knew something was up and wanted to protect Thario.

“What have you got?” Griz asked.

“He’s in this van.” Thario pointed to the image on the larger monitor on the desk.

Sharp moved to the chair next to Thario’s. “How far have you tracked him?”

“He went north. I wasn’t expecting that. I’ve got him close to the Marine base in Miramar.”

“Do we know anyone up there?” Jay asked.

Griz shook his head. “Not anymore.”

Sharp met Jay’s gaze. “Maybe Rory knows someone.”

Jay shook his head and threw up his hands. “Call. They may not be able to intercept. We don’t even know where they are.”

Squat pulled out his phone and stepped into the kitchen. Jay heard him on the phone with Harry, explaining what was going on. Meanwhile, Thario and Sharp drilled in on traffic cameras, figuring out where the van had pulled off the interstate.

The jerk could be driving east. They weren’t sure because there were fewer cameras out that way.

Squat stepped back into the room. “Rory is calling her friend. Seeing if they’ll drive out that way and find the van.”

Griz turned to Jay. “How about you, me, Apple, and Squat head out that way, see if we can catch up. The other two guys will stay here with Thario and keep tracking.”

“I only need Sharp to stay. The rest of you can head out and track. Take three cars.”

Shine cleared his throat. “I only have my Glock in my car.”

Thario pointed to his bedroom. “Under the bed, I have some stuff. Take what you need.”

Jay squeezed Thario’s shoulder. “Thanks, man.”

“No problem. Get her back and make that man pay.”

He had no doubt that he would seriously make the asshole regret touching Nichole. If the asshole harmed her, he would take out his frustrations on the man. During training, he’d been subjected to various forms of torture, and he had his own ideas of what he could do to the guy. He would make the man regret every decision that led him to this moment.
