Chapter 40

Ruby
T he night was still as the warm bodies of my alphas pressed all around me as they slept. I was nestled between them, feeling their steady breaths on my skin. For some reason, I was awake in the middle of the night, and I looked around, seeing that Wayne was gone.
Did he leave to get a drink?
But suddenly, I heard his voice muttering in the living room. Anxiety gripped me, and I quickly followed his voice, wearing nothing at all, but I didn't care. I needed to see what was going on.
I stood hidden behind a wall, watching Wayne pacing in the living room, phone pressed to his ear.
His words were cryptic, and he sounded uneasy.
"Everything will work itself out," he said, and I wondered who the hell he was talking to. The house felt chilly, and I hugged myself, trying to keep warm. I closed my eyes, trying to see if that would help me hear if he was talking to another female.
"Wayne," I said as soon he ended the call. I rounded the corner, making him jump. "What's going on? Who were you on the phone with? "
He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Your dad and the rest of your family were supposed to show up tomorrow, but Henry's guards are stopping them. Too many packs are leaving the compound all at once, and Henry is getting nervous."
My stomach sank. I was already missing Ella, and I was hoping they'd be here. I bit my lip, worry gnawing at me, while Wayne tried to reassure me.
"Benjamin is a smart guy- they'll make it here," he said, his voice warm. But I was worried about Marrok being out there and Ella unprotected. My fathers vowed to protect her, but they were aging alphas.
"Alright," I said. "Make sure to call them in the morning for an update."
"I will," he said in a low voice as his eyes roamed over my exposed body, desire soon replacing his worry. He stepped closer, running his fingers vertically down my pussy and between my legs. Longing for his touch, I widened my legs as he teased my pussy, his touch electric against my skin.
"You're so wet for me, Ruby," he growled, plunging two fingers inside me. I moaned, gripping his strong forearms, riding his fingers as I pushed my hair back. He tweaked my nipples, a wicked grin on his face. "Is this from being horny or from the cold?"
"From the cold," I lied breathlessly, but he wasn't buying it.
"Don't lie to me, little omega," he said, his voice dripping with intensity. He added a third finger into my pussy, making me gasp. My eyes rolled back in ecstasy as I felt my pussy stretching around his fingers.
"Oh god," I moaned when he thrust his fingers inside me rapidly. In and out until the sensation within me climbed to a peak. My lower belly clenched as I shattered all over his fingers. Slick squirted out of me as I collapsed against him weakly.
"So perfect," he said, kissing my earlobes until I shivered. "Ready to take my knot one more time?"
The next morning, I was restless as I watched the alphas sleep in late. We had a long wedding night, and Wayne was probably the most exhausted after being up all night with me.
While I was showering, I wondered what was happening with my family now. I tried to put it out of my mind until we could call them this morning, but my brain was wracked with worry.
After my shower, I dressed in white leggings and a red tank top. Then, I made my way to the kitchen to brew some coffee. I wished Ella could be here with me and that my family could join us in this island paradise. If they couldn't come here, I knew I'd have to go back to El Paso to be with them.
As I sipped my coffee, Jasper came downstairs, freshly showered. He saw my serious expression, and concern filled his eyes. "What's wrong, Ruby?"
"My family is having trouble leaving El Paso," I said. "Henry is getting suspicious."
"Oh fuck, that's not good," he said, pulling up a chair next to me. He hugged me, and I leaned into his strong chest, trying not to cry. "We'll go back if we have to. Don't worry about anything, honey."
The sun dipped toward the horizon, casting a warm golden light across the beach. The house we were staying in was on the beachfront, and I wanted some time to myself. I was too worried to pretend everything was fine around the alphas. Wayne had called my dad multiple times, but there was no answer.
I was sitting on the sand, lost in my thoughts as the ocean waves touched my feet. My alphas had been worried about me all day, constantly checking in and offering their comfort, but there was nothing they could do to make me feel better .
I had to make sure Ella was safe. It was such a bad idea to fly away from her, and I started to really regret it.
"Ruby!" a voice called from way behind me.
I recognized my father's voice instantly. My heart pounding, I stood up and turned to see my three dads, Julie, baby Ella, and my mother, walking toward me, their hands laden with suitcases. A wave of relief washed over me, and I sprang to my feet, brushing off the sand as I ran to meet them.
"They're here," Wayne shouted to the rest of the alphas as they quickly followed behind me. I could feel my pack's relief when they set eyes on our baby Ella.
I scooped Ella into my arms, hugging her squirming body to my chest as I showered her face with kisses. Her eyes lit up when she saw me, and she gurgled happily, reaching for my hair with her chubby little hands. At that moment, everything felt perfect, and my worries washed away.
"Dad, what happened?" I asked when I hugged him next. Julie and my mother were talking to my alphas about the trip.
"We had some trouble trying to leave," Benjamin said, shaking his head. "After everything that happened with Marrok, I've been meaning to come back here to my homeland."
He took a deep breath and sighed as he looked up at the sun.
"Did you tell Henry where you were going?" asked Wayne.
"I did not," said my dad.
"Did you miss it here?" I asked.
"More than you'll ever know," he said. "Wayne told me you all entered here without a problem, so I decided to try my luck and get the hell away, too, before Henry ruins our life even more than he already has."
"Let's get you all settled in," Wayne said, motioning to the house he'd rented for my family, which was next door. If I didn't have Ella, I would never have wanted to spend my honeymoon with my parents next door. But since we had a baby, it was just so much more convenient to have the grandparents next door watching her through the nights .
We helped them move their belongings inside, then gathered around the dining table for a warm meal that Jasper had gone out to buy.
It felt like we were finally complete until I got a call on my cell phone. Looking at the screen of my phone, I smiled when I saw Carmen calling me.
"Hey, Carmen," I said, but she quickly cut me off.
"Henry's here, in my living room! He's asking about you and your family. He says his son was killed…"
My heart raced, and my eyes widened as I looked up at my alphas. Davy and Rufus exchanged a dark look. It looked like they were hiding something, and I immediately knew what had happened and why we had moved here.
"Don't say where we are," whispered Wayne to me, pressing a hand on my shoulder. I knew then that it was true Marrok was dead, and we were responsible.
"I'm just on my honeymoon," I said.
"Henry wants to know where you are," she insisted, her voice cracking with fear. Suddenly, there were loud knocking sounds on her bedroom door, and the phone went silent.
My stomach clenched with worry as I put my phone down on the table.
"She's in trouble," I said.
"Henry's just trying to intimidate her for information," said Davy soothingly, rubbing my arm. I could hardly breathe as my family was silent and concerned, sitting around the table. We were safe, but Carmen was not here.
"Wayne," I said, holding Ella close. "Do you think your friends at the compound can check on Carmen?"
"Of course," he replied. "I'll call them right now."
His words brought me some comfort, but I still felt restless.
"I need to walk outside for a second to clear my mind," I said, my heart racing as I handed my baby to my mom.
"Don't worry about Carmen- she's strong and will find a way," my mother said, holding my hand. Her eyes looked clear, and this was the most aware she'd been. "Marrok is gone, and you're safe now, darling. He's gone."
"Mom?" I said, shocked to see her so lucid.
"You're safe now," she said, her eyes half-closed with happiness as she hugged Ella to her. Tears sprung in her eyes as I hugged my mom. She had always been stressed about my well-being, and now I knew why. Now that the stress of Marrok was gone, she was a lot calmer.
"No one will ever hurt me now, Mom," I reassured her, my heart lifting and hoping that she would eventually get entirely better down the road. But it would be a long road ahead of her.
I walked towards the front door and headed down to the relaxing beach while my family ate inside. My alphas joined me, their warm presence surrounding me as we watched the sun starting to set and the orange sky.
"Sunsets here are so beautiful," I said, feeling calmer with my alphas.
"They sure are," replied Davy, his eyes lingering on mine.
"Did you do something to Marrok?" I asked him softly.
"Yes, with Rufus's help. He's dead, babe."
"Thank you," I said, grabbing him by the face and kissing him on the lips.
"Anything for you, my love."
"Hey, I helped too," said Rufus, and I kissed him too, giggling. Jasper and Wayne also claimed their kisses on me, each kiss making my stomach flutter with happiness.
Wayne held my hands and kissed them, "You are the best thing that ever happened to us. As your husband, I pledge on behalf of my pack that we will protect you and whoever else is close to your heart."
My heart warmed as I blushed from the gazes of the four alphas. The way they looked at me with so much love made my heart thump in my chest. And I knew that they were with me forever, regardless of whatever obstacle came our way .
