Chapter 35
35
Ruby
T he limo screeched to a sudden stop in front of an alleyway. Breathing hard, I quickly pushed the door open and sprinted out of the limo. I clutched my wedding dress to keep from tripping.
The sound of Marrok's footsteps echoed behind me, causing my heart to pound violently in my chest.
Adrenaline and fear fueled me as I screamed for help.
"Help, someone!" I screamed as I ran.
I kicked off my heels and dodged between broken cars in the street to try and lose him. But there wasn't a single soul around this abandoned area of town.
He clamped a hand over my mouth, and Marrok's voice hissed in my ear. "Do you really think you're faster than an alpha? I'm the predator, and you're the prey, my love."
He started dragging me down one of the dark alleyways. I couldn't believe this was fucking happening again. Blood was rushing to my head in my panic as I tried to bite his hand.
His grip was ironclad, not letting up no matter how hard I tried to fight him.
Marrok opened a filthy door to a random building and pulled me up the rickety stairs. The smell of cigarette smoke and rotten flesh filled my nostrils.
My stomach churned with disgust and terror.
"Stop fighting," he growled, unlocking another door and dragging me into a trash-filled apartment. He didn't release his grip on me until he forced me onto a stained bed.
I kicked at him while lying on my back, aiming for his balls, but he was too slim and fast.
"Let me go!" I screamed.
"Bad omega," he snarled, grabbing each of my ankles and tying them to the bedposts using ropes he had lying around. He took my right wrist, binding me to the headboard.
"You don't have to be like this," I pleaded out of breath, my heart pounding hard with fear. This was all going wrong, and I didn't know I would end up dying this way.
Now spreadeagled on the bed, I was utterly terrified. This wasn't how my wedding day was supposed to have gone.
"You've forced me to do this," he said, inspecting my ring finger and shaking his head when he saw that the ring he gave me was gone. I had gotten rid of it the first chance I got.
"Stop this, Marrok," I begged, tears streaming down my face. "I told your dad everything, and I can't believe he didn't do anything about you!"
His eyes blazed with fury as he yanked up my wedding dress and aggressively ripped off my stockings. I regretted telling him that because that set off his rage. He was so quick to get angry.
"Why the fuck did you talk to him?!" he shouted. My legs were exposed now, and I tried to fight against the rope bonds, but it was impossible. "He already thinks I'm a disappointment. He doesn't need to know what I do in my free time. I'm a grown alpha."
"Help!" I screamed, thrashing against my constraints.
"No one will hear you, my love," said Marrok, gazing upon me. Suddenly, his mood shifted as he watched me struggling. "I really missed you. Don't be scared of me, Ruby. "
"But I am scared," I said, flinching when he traced his hand across my leg. Every inch of my skin that he touched felt like branded iron. I despised him.
"Such a pretty wedding dress," crooned Marrok. "The most beautiful bride I've ever seen."
Suddenly, we heard footsteps on the metal staircase leading up to the apartment. The footsteps were loud, and I filled my chest with air, screaming like a banshee.
Marrok quickly stuffed a foul-smelling rag into my mouth.
The footsteps hurried up the rest of the way, and Marrok ran to hide next to the doorway. He grabbed a hammer from the dusty ground and stood there, ready to ambush whoever approached.
My heart raced, wanting to warn the person who was coming. The room was quiet as we waited for whoever it was to enter the room and meet their fate to Marrok's hammer.
"Ruby, is that you?" said a familiar voice, and I wanted to cry. Wayne approached the door, his eyes widening when he saw me. I shook my head frantically, trying to warn him.
He entered the room without hesitation.
Marrok struck Wayne on the head with the hammer, and Wayne crumpled to the ground with a sickening thump. I let out a muffled scream of horror, my eyes wide with terror.
It was like a twisted nightmare when I watched Marrok lifting the unconscious Wayne off the ground and into a chair. He began wrapping chains around Wayne's chest and legs, double-checking to make sure it was secure.
After a few minutes, Wayne woke up from his stupor and he looked down at the ropes binding him.
"What the fuck?" Wayne roared, trying to free himself.
"Sit still, and you'll be able to watch a beautiful show," said Marrok with a gleam as he looked at me.
"Is this what you do with your free time?" Wayne yelled defiantly. "Since you can't fucking knot with that broken dick of yours? Yes, Ruby told me about that, and we all had a good laugh."
Marrok's face turned beet red, and he stormed out of the room.
Wayne laughed, but deep down, I knew that Marrok had a plan up his sleeve and that he didn't leave just because he was embarrassed.
"What a fuckin' dick," said Wayne. "Actually, he doesn't have one."
Moments later, Marrok showed up with a gleaming knife in his hand. The same one he kept threatening me with, and I tried to shout a warning.
"You'll be dead on this floor once you watch me please your bride," said Marrok, smiling as he tried to shove a rag into Wayne's mouth.
But Wayne was quick as he bit down on his hand, causing Marrok to scream like a man possessed.
"Fuck you!" screamed Marrok, finally pulling his fingers out of Wayne's jaws.
"Try it again if you have any fingers left," growled Wayne.
"I'm wasting too much time on you," groaned Marrok, massaging his hand.
"Let her go and kill me if you want," offered Wayne, looking at me with worry. "Whatever makes your psychotic self happy."
"That wouldn't be fun. You're going to watch as I fuck my bride," Marrok snarled at Wayne, his eyes filled with madness. "She loves it, and you'll see how loudly she moans for me. Sometimes we don't need big dicks to please our omegas."
Filled with terror, I tried to scoot away from him, but the ropes kept me in place. Marrok lifted my dress, exposing my white lace panties.
My breathing grew heavy with terror as he traced the handle end of the knife between my pussy lips over my underwear.
Wayne let out a muffled shout and tried to jump with the chair, but he fell forward onto the rug with a clatter .
"Haha, he's getting agitated. He's going to watch every second of this," said Marrok, grinning maniacally as he righted Wayne's chair before returning his attention to me.
"Can you smell her, Wayne? The sweetness of her pussy?" Marrok asked in a whisper. His words felt like an embarrassing confirmation of my sudden arousal. "She likes the knife against her pussy."
He ripped off my underwear, leaving me exposed and vulnerable while Wayne was forced to watch.
"Don't do that," warned Wayne. I turned my face away, trying not to cry, when I felt Marrok's fingers touch my bare spread pussy.
Wayne roared, and when I looked at him, I saw him biting Marrok's arm even though he was still tied to the chair.
It was like everything happened in slow motion next.
Marrok yelled wildly, his arm bloody as he waved the dagger around. I watched in horror as he stabbed Wayne right in the chest.
Blood pooled around the dagger and stained my wedding dress on the edge of the bed. I watched wordlessly as blood bloomed in Wayne's white dress shirt.
With a satisfied glint in his eye, Marrok pulled the dagger out and stabbed Wayne again in the shoulder.
I felt like I was trapped in a nightmare, screaming endlessly as my heart threatened to burst from my chest. Wayne dropped to the ground on his side, still strapped to the chair, gasping for air.
Oh no, he was dead. Oh my god.
Please, god, let him be alive.
Three figures suddenly rushed into the room, and my head snapped up. I saw Wayne's pack scattering in all directions.
Rufus ran for Marrok, lifting him and slamming him against the wall until the whole apartment shook. Davy rushed to my side, removing the rag from my mouth.
"He stabbed Wayne," I cried, my heart thumping. "Wayne's going to die! "
"Let me get these ropes off you," said Davy, who was expertly cutting the ropes in four swift strikes with the knife in his hand. "What the hell is going on here?"
Jasper hurried to free Wayne while Davy worked on my ropes.
"Thank you," I said breathlessly when he finally freed me from my bonds. I tumbled out of the bed and crawled to Wayne's bleeding form on the ground.
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I reached him, gently touching his face. His eyes fluttered open when he felt my touch.
Jasper was working quickly to free him from his restraints.
"Jasper, I want you to take over as pack leader," Wayne commanded, holding Jasper's wrist steady.
"Nothing is going to happen to you," barked Jasper.
"And Ruby," Wayne croaked, his voice weak. I could barely look at him from how hard I was crying. I couldn't lose him now, no matter how annoying he could get at times. "I love you, sweetheart. Take care of Ella."
Tears streamed down my face as I clutched his hand, desperate for him to hold on. His eyes were filled with pain.
"You can't leave us," I choked out between sobs. But he shook his head wordlessly. All control that he usually had was fading away.
I leaned in, pressing my trembling lips to Wayne's, his warmth seeping into me as I tried to convey every ounce of love that filled my heart.
His head lolled to the side peacefully, and he whispered, his voice barely audible.
"I love you for all eternity. You are my wife, Ruby. You're the only one I'll ever want. Thank you for giving me a chance," he said. Then he suddenly placed his lips on my neck and pierced my skin with his teeth.
A sharp pain shot through me, followed by the most intense pleasure I had ever felt.
I gasped, my eyes flying open as Wayne's essence coursed through me, connecting us in a way that words could never do justice. I could sense him as I felt his strength dwindling away, but also the depth of his love for me. His life force surged into mine with every heartbeat, mingling with mine and creating a bond that not even death could break.
"No one," he growled possessively, but his voice was barely above a whisper now. "No one will ever hurt you now, Ruby. They will know you're mine...my omega."
As his grip on my hand relaxed, his body sagged against the filthy floor.
His eyes fluttered closed as his chest rose and fell with shallow breaths.
"Wayne," I cried out, hugging him tighter. "Stay with me." But he didn't respond, his breathing shallow and uneven. He was at the edge of consciousness now, so close to slipping away from me forever.
I clung to him despite all the blood, crying as I felt the connection between us growing weaker by the second.
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I hugged him tight, refusing to let go even as the sound of heavy footsteps echoed through the room. Police officers burst in, announcing their arrival while paramedics followed closely behind. They worked quickly to put Wayne on a stretcher, carrying him out of the room.
"He killed Wayne!" Rufus bellowed, his rage uncontrollable as he beat Marrok into a bloody pulp. The police pulled Rufus back, warning him that any more violence would result in charges.
It was all a nightmare as I watched the police slap handcuffs on Marrok.
"Ruby, tell them you love me," shouted Marrok, but I refused to acknowledge him. He was dead to me.
I sat on my knees, staring down at my bloody hands and my once-white wedding dress, now stained red with Wayne's blood. This had turned out to be the worst day of my life, and all I could do was cry. Davy wrapped his arms around me, and I saw tears in his eyes, too .
"What happens if Wayne dies?" I choked out, feeling like I couldn't breathe as my chest constricted.
Davy's voice trembled, but he kept his gaze locked on mine. "We can sense him fighting for his life, though it's getting faint. He's strong, Ruby. Don't give up hope just yet."
