LUCINDA
T he next few days were full of good morning texts, professional lunches, and lingering touches between her and Becky.
Ember had been discharged the day after Becky had come to Lucinda's apartment to rest for the next two weeks. The police were still trying to figure out who had accidentally set the fire, but since there were no casualties, it wasn't high on their list.
Lucinda was thrown back into work during the days, but her nights were full of fantasies of soft kisses and greedy hands. Becky Thompson had fucked her with a hunger she had never known existed.
On Friday, she found herself at Battle Cattle again. This was apparently her new hangout spot because Artie always told her to stop in during his shift.
"What do you mean she showed up at your front door?" he exclaimed.
He sat next to her at the bar swinging his roller skates as he listened to her newest Becky story. His milkshake sat forgotten in front of him.
"Will you quiet down?" Lucinda hissed.
"So what happened next?" Artie sat his head on his fist, his eyes wide with wonder.
A blonde teenage girl with braces rolled up to the pair. "Artie, when's your break over?"
"Carol, I'm literally in the middle of something," Artie snapped.
Carol rolled her eyes and skated to the front of the restaurant.
"Do you need to go?" Lucinda asked.
Artie waved a hand. "No, no! Keep talking. This is like a fucking soap opera."
Lucinda blushed and whispered, "Well, we slept together. "
"Oh my god!" Artie hit the table with his hand. "Was it good?"
"Good" was the understatement of the year. Lucinda didn't think she had ever came so hard in her life. After Becky had left that night, Lucinda had passed out on the couch in utter bliss and slept for the next twelve hours.
"It was great, yeah." Lucinda stirred her drink.
"So, are you guys going to start dating or what?" Artie downed the rest of his chocolate shake.
The question sent Lucinda spiraling. Did Becky think they were dating? No, they were just having some fun. It was too soon for Lucinda to be thinking about dating someone. She literally moved to Phoenix Ridge to focus on her career, not to find a girlfriend. She couldn't pick out how she really felt about Becky. All she knew is that she didn't want to stop seeing her.
"We're just...hanging out," Lucinda said cautiously.
Artie snorted. "Was that the first time you've ever said that phrase?"
"Yeah, probably."
He broke out into a loud laugh. "I love you, Dr. England."
Later that night, Becky showed up at her door. Because of their busy schedules, they hadn't been able to see each other in a few days.
Becky's short sandy hair was slicked back and wet, like she had just gotten out of the shower. She was wearing the most normal clothes Lucinda had ever seen her in: a black t-shirt and black sweatpants. Was it concerning that Lucinda found the outfit so hot?
"Hey, sweet girl." Becky smirked and walked into Lucinda's apartment.
Lucinda's stomach flipped at the nickname. "Hi, how was your day? How's Ember doing?" She closed the door and followed Becky to the couch, where Becky pulled her into her lap.
Becky leaned her head back on the couch, placing Lucinda's legs on both sides on her hips. She looked tired—exhausted, actually.
"It was good. Ember is good," Becky said, running her hands up Lucinda's legs.
"Don't lie to me. You look exhausted!" Lucinda leaned her hands on the back of the couch.
"Pft, you need to work on your bedside manner, Doc," Becky joked. "Just a long day is all. "
Lucinda ran her hands down Becky's chest, slipping her hands under her shirt. "I'll have you know I have excellent bedside manner."
Becky raised an eyebrow. "Do you, now?"
"Yes, I'm very good at taking care of my patients. Zero complaints." Lucinda put her hands in the waistband of Becky's pants.
"I don't know if I believe you. Care to show me an example, beautiful?”
God, every time Becky called her that, she soaked her panties. She wasn't sure why Becky had this effect on her. Was it her husky voice? Or the way her eyes darkened? It was probably how she elongated every syllable like she had all the time in the world.
Becky pulled off Lucinda's shirt and tossed it to the floor. Her nipples grew hard from the cold air.
"Doctor," Lucinda corrected.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Becky pulled off her shirt, revealing a gray sports bra. "Doctor Everett, please continue." She nipped at Lucinda's breast lightly before leaning back against the couch.
Lucinda didn't know where to start. Iris had always taken the reins during sex. Not that Lucinda didn't know what to do. She just always got overwhelmed from the possibilities of what she could do. But she wanted Becky to feel good. It was apparent she had a hell of a day, and she needed it.
She stood, leading Becky by the hand to her bedroom. "Make yourself comfortable on the bed. I'll be right back."
Becky smiled at her in the dark. "Yes, ma'am."
Lucinda went into her closet and dug out a tote bag. She took out the contents and went back into the bedroom. Becky was naked on her bed, her hands folded behind her head, her eyes closed.
She stared at her lean muscles that rippled down her body. Becky looked like a Greek goddess in the moonlight. Like Athena , k nown for wisdom and war. Or was she Eris, the goddess of chaos? Lucinda's life had been thrown into disarray the moment she heard Becky's name. But she had just as much to do with it as Becky, and she still wanted more.
Lucinda slipped out of her sleep shorts and climbed onto the bed. Becky didn't open her eyes. Was she asleep? Lucinda ran her hands over Becky's legs. Her hands found their way to Becky's hard stomach. How was she still this strong while working a desk job?
Becky sighed. So she was awake. Lucinda kissed her, and Becky responded immediately, her hand threading in Lucinda's hair.
Lucinda's head was yanked back, her scalp stinging deliciously.
"I thought you were going to show me your excellent bedside manners, Doctor?" Becky's low and demanding voice sent chills down Lucinda's spine.
Lucinda laughed. "That's why I brought this." She held up the vibrator she had gotten out of her closet.
"What a good girl," Becky said, releasing Lucinda's hair. "What other toys do you have in there?"
Lucinda kissed Becky's mouth slowly, enjoying the sensation of her lips. "That's for another time."
Becky slid her hand down to her clit, pleasuring herself while she waited for Lucinda to decide what she wanted to do.
Her mouth watered at the sight of Becky's hand fucking herself. Lucinda slipped the silicone vibrator into her mouth before pulling it out with a pop.
"You may feel a slight pressure," Lucinda joked.
Becky chuckled. "Shut up and fuck me, Lucinda."
Lucinda slipped the vibrator into Becky's pussy, hitting the on button as soon as it sunk in. Becky groaned, rubbing her clit faster. Lucinda began to pump the toy into Becky, her other hand traveling up Becky's chest to play with her breasts.
"Fuuuck," Becky moaned, her pelvis arching up to meet Lucinda's thrusts.
Lucinda bent down and pulled Becky's hand away so she could suck on her clit. Becky entwined her fingers in Lucinda's hair.
Suddenly Becky pulled out the vibrator and flipped Lucinda over on her back.
"I'm supposed to be taking care of you," Lucinda protested.
"And you will be," Becky said, pushing the vibrator into Lucinda's pussy.
Lucinda gasped from the vibrations pulsing throughout her. She ground her hips against the bed, a warmth flooding her center.
"May I sit on your face?" Becky teased Lucinda's nipple with her thumb.
"Yes," Lucinda said breathlessly, her mouth watering at the mere thought. Her hands grabbed at Becky's thighs to help situate her.
Lucinda hooked her arms around Becky's legs, spreading them before her. Lucinda licked through her folds greedily. She tasted like sea salt and rain. Lucinda was afraid that she would get addicted to the taste. That she wouldn't ever be able to be settled knowing what Becky's taste felt like on her tongue. She sucked her clit into her mouth as she felt Becky continuing to fuck her with the dildo.
"Yes, baby. You feel so good," Becky said, her hips shuddering against Lucinda's hands.
Lucinda licked and sucked like her life depended on it until Becky was riding her tongue. Becky took out the vibrator from inside Lucinda and rolled it over Lucinda's clit. Hot breath escaped from Lucinda's mouth at the sensation. She groaned against Becky's skin.
"God, I'm gonna come. Don't stop," Becky said, quickly moving the vibrator over Lucinda.
Lucinda followed her command until Becky came hard on Lucinda's face. Lucinda followed closely behind, the vibrator blinding her senses. Becky dropped to the other side of her, the bed dipping from the force. The two women breathed heavily, their heartbeats pounding in their ears.
"Did I receive high marks?" Lucinda asked.
"High marks?" Becky threw an arm over her eyes, trying to catch her breath,
Lucinda paused, putting on her best American accent, which was actually terrible. "Did I get a good grade?"
Becky’s laugh rang out through the room. "Yes, you did very well. Thank you. I fucking needed that."
"Good." Lucinda threw her arm over Becky's stomach, not ready to move yet.
In the silence, Lucinda's mind wandered back to what Artie had asked. If they were dating. She had no idea what this was between them. Becky had shown up to her apartment two times this week to have sex and then spend time together. Fuck buddies didn't hang out, right?
"Becks?"
"Hm?" Becky sounded half-asleep.
"What is it we're doing here?" Lucinda didn't look at her face.
"Aftercare," Becky mumbled.
Lucinda scoffed. "No, I mean you and me. What...what is this?"
Becky moved her arm to look down at Lucinda. She was quiet for a moment. "Um." She paused. "What do you want it to be?"
"You can't answer a question with a question," Lucinda grumbled .
Becky chuckled, stroking Lucinda's hair, "Okay. Well, I know I like you."
"Mhm."
"I definitely like the sex."
"Obviously." Lucinda smiled.
"But honestly, I haven't done something like this in a long time. I haven't really dated since my divorce."
Lucinda lifted her head to look at Becky. "Not at all?"
"I mean, I fucked around, but I've never done anything serious." Becky tucked a strand of Lucinda's hair behind her ear.
Panic cut through Lucinda like a knife at the word. She couldn't handle serious; she knew that. Iris was just some woman who kept her busy on the weekend. Lucinda hadn't done “serious” since her fiancée. And that...that had ended in chaos and pain.
Becky searched her face. “What do you want?"
"I..." Lucinda bit her lip. "I was engaged before, but we broke it off. She said my job was too demanding, that I was too cold..."
You're a fucking ice queen, Lucinda!
To be honest, the start of her career had been demanding. She was never home. The hospital was the only four walls she spent more than an hour in. Her ex would beg her to take off, but that's not how being a doctor worked. She served the citizens first and herself second. But Claire never understood that. Claire said she was selfish and rotten.
"Every time I get serious with someone, it just crashes and burns around me." A touch of hurt broke through Lucinda's voice.
Becky tilted her head thoughtfully as if she could read Lucinda's every thought. "Let's take this slow then. No stress, just fun. We'll have to be good during the work day, but I'm fine to do whatever you want."
A tear slid down Lucinda's cheek. She hurriedly wiped it away and buried her face into Becky's neck.
"Sweet girl." Becky stroked along Lucinda's spine.
After a while of peace, Becky broke the silence. "I fear Ember is onto us, though."
"How?" Lucinda said, slightly muffled by Becky's hair.
"She said we have too much sexual tension. That we're just waiting to rip each other's clothes off. "
"Weird topic to discuss with your daughter," Lucinda said.
Becky laughed. "Don't worry, I made her run laps for it."
After Becky and Lucinda cleaned up, they ordered a pizza and watched a movie in bed. Becky fell asleep about thirty minutes in, but Lucinda didn't mind. She cuddled against Becky's chest and listened to the steady beat of her heart. She wondered if Becky had meant what she said. She said that she would follow Lucinda's lead on how fast to take things. Did Becky want something serious and didn't want to tell Lucinda that out of fear that she would run off? Or was Becky indeed not interested in her in that way?
That thought made a pang of hurt run through her. She wondered why as she fell asleep against Becky's warm skin.
Around 5 a.m., Becky's hand grazed against Lucinda's cheek, slightly waking her.
"I gotta go, baby," Becky whispered.
"Nooo," Lucinda groaned. "Stay."
Becky chuckled and kissed her forehead. "I have to go to the fire station to finish up some paperwork. Text me when you wake up. "
"Mmokay," Lucinda slurred and fell right back asleep.
When Lucinda finally woke up at 8 a.m., she stretched her arms and legs, and Rosalind meowed in protest at the sudden movement. She reached for her phone on the bedside table and squinted against the light.
Becky: Check ur fridge when ur up.
Lucinda threw on her robe and padded into the kitchen. It looked like it might rain. Her building was surrounded by misty clouds that made it hard to see outside. This kind of weather made her want to crawl back into bed and never leave.
She made her way to the fridge and swung open the door. Inside, surrounded by her random protein shakes and yogurts, was a caramel iced coffee with something written on the side. Lucinda picked it up to see better. “Lucinda” was penned in black marker on the side of the cup.
And for some reason, Lucida's heart soared.
