3. ELLIE

ELLIE

I swallow nervously as I stare at the Astors, the couple that all of the girls were so excited to meet. Seeing them now though is much different than seeing a picture or watching a few videos. Their presence is striking and overwhelming in a good way, I think. My breathing quickens as I continue to observe them—Savin not resembling an Omega like so many I’ve met.

He’s taller, lean, muscles lining beneath that white collared shirt with shaggy dirty blonde hair hanging around his shoulders. His sea-glass eyes are mesmerizing and I find it easy to lose myself in them before I tear away to catalog Macon the same way. His presence can’t be missed but where Savin’s is sweet and mysterious, Macon demands respect in those gorgeous brown eyes. Everything about him is sharp and pressed, the close-shaven hair and beard bringing out the regal beauty that belies his Alpha status.

They are a perfect couple as if they stepped right out of a magazine.

It also feels like the entire world has stopped, just the three of us in our own moment full of berries, cream, and sharp whiskey. My body heats and I try to weather my absolute need for the two men standing in front of me.

Seconds pass by until Macon pushes Savin forward, both of them taking up residence beside me. “May we join you?” Macon asks. His voice is much deeper than I would have thought, a rumble following his words that I know to be an Alpha’s purr. A sound usually reserved for mates or unmated Omegas. A grin splits across Savin’s face as he clutches a cup to his chest, those expressive eyes hoping that I’ll say yes.

I can’t find my words so I nod, shuffling so that I’m twisted toward them. Savin’s the first to break the ice, Macon stringing an arm around his waist to keep the Omega from scooting forward. Our knees brush anyway and I gulp down air to keep from doing something I regret. My thighs rub together as I try to stave off my need, listening intently to Savin’s questions about my tattoos and hair, the Omega going so far as to reach forward and run his fingers through the curls.

Instead of pulling away, I lean into the touch, his long fingers dragging along my cheek, leaving the heavy scent of berries and cream in its wake. He just marked me. It’s also then that I notice Savin isn’t in heat. I don’t know why no one else is reacting to him like I am but it’s bordering on uncomfortable. Macon’s presence only heightens the desire, a possessive tint to his expression focused on my face. It follows my tongue as I wet my lips, eyes darkening when they catch sight of my tongue piercing. Maybe one night with them could be fun.

The night passes me by as they steal my attention, Savin drawing closer until he’s pressed against my side. The flirty banter between the three of us has my heart soaring but my subconscious won’t let me truly enjoy it. I’m just a Beta. They want a night of unattached fun that won’t result in my sorry ass clawing at them for more when tomorrow comes around.

I know how this works.

The problem is that I’ve never smelled something as delicious as these two. Betas don’t have the same biological makeup. Scents aren’t part of our everyday life. And yet… these two, they feel like they belong. Together. With me. Which is crazy.

The longer I sit here, the more I understand that Macon’s scent is more than just whiskey. There’s a tangy, fruity hint to it that makes my mouth water. I barely register when the conversation shifts to Savin’s lips on my neck, his guttural moan making me shove my hands down between my legs. One of his hands slips into my hair, pulling it out of the way for better access and the moan that slips out is purely accidental.

My body tightens up and I pull away, holding my hands up. I’m sure they can both see the desire lingering in my eyes but we can’t do this.

“Mr. and Mr. Astor,” I begin, setting a firm barrier between the three of us. “As much as I want whatever this is, I also don’t want it cheapened by the fact that I’ve been hired to work this party.” Savin’s eyes widen, Macon’s lips tightening. I guess they didn’t know. After all, the other girls are very easy to pick out and I was just minding my own business on the couch. “I’m just one of the girls,” I breathe pitifully. I’m just a Beta.

I stumble to my feet, biting back another moan when Macon is on his feet and pulling me against his chest to steady me. “Thank you. I hope I haven’t ruined the night for you. I just-” My fingers curl into his jacket as his scent strengthens and I nearly lose myself in his aura before I pull away. “I know that maybe that’s what you thought you were getting but I don’t want that.” I want more than that. I gather my hands in front of me to apologize again, twisting away from Savin so I don’t have to catch that heartbroken look on his face.

It”s too bad that I can smell soured cream and rotten berries.

Macon nods, giving me a few feet of space. “I can respect that.” His dismissal hurts, my body screaming for me to stay even as my head tells me to leave. I mumble a goodbye and shuffle toward the kitchen, Carleen laughing at me before she directs me back to the living room.

I’m stuck with these people for another few hours and I already feel like I’ve ruined the ambiance for the night.
