Epilogue
Mayday Hills had folded like a house of cards once Katsuro moved into the territory. They hadn’t let me come along, which I wasn’t upset about, but what little fighting there had been was brief, and Oliver was treating Aurora to as many steak dinners as she pleased for her efforts in the takeover. Some of the vampires and other supernaturals had pledged to Katsuro and Davin. Some had moved on. Some continued to live their lives the same as they always had, semi-unaware of the politics of the region.
Now that everything was secure, Katsuro had brought me into Vito’s stronghold in the city and we were going through his papers. With my background in accounting—how I’d discovered the trafficking ring in the first place—I had a good head for numbers and patterns.
I was shuffling through Vito’s files when something caught my eye.
“Guys?” Hands shaking, I held out the file, almost dropping it before Katsuro could take it from me. The file detailed the sale and distribution of cloud puppies, and I had no doubt that these dogs weren’t being sold into loving homes.
Oliver and Bridger crowded around. Davin sensed my alarm from the other room and joined us, Jaz following on his heels.
Katsuro handed the file off, and everyone looked through it before they all glanced at Nimbus then focused on me.
“We have to do something.”
