Chapter Ten

Sheldon

After ensuring that daddies and baby would come home to a clean house with a clear and easy path to the bedroom and nursery, I found the guest room and stripped down to my underwear.

“Are you a day or night sleeper?” I asked, meeting Travis’s gaze in the vanity mirror.

It was dark cherrywood paling out the mirror more than usual.

“Half and half,” he shrugged.

“Did you hear my question or are you staring at my scantily clad ass?” I chuckled and turned around to face him.

“Both,” he said.

“My ass or the night/day thing?”

“You’re making my head spin, mate,” Travis finally laughed.

“With my questions or my body?” I teased him.

“Both,” he said, stepping closer to me.

“Well, which is it?”

“Do I really have to pick one?” he asked as his hands found my hips.

“Day or night? You can’t sleep through both. That means you’re in a coma or dead, sweetheart,” I said, wrapping my arms around his shoulders.

“Used to be up most of the night. Now, I normally get up at five-ish for work. Science people start the day too early.”

“I’m usually a day sleeper, but the sun won’t kill me.”

“Well, duh. I’m a vampire too. I know that,” he said, but his voice was more amused than full of malice. “Do you want to be a night sleeper?”

“I think I’ll have to switch over if we move to Wales for your job,” I shrugged, meeting his green eyes.

“You’re tired, aren’t you?” he asked.

“Exhausted. I’ve been on a half-assed hunt. Followed my runaway sister through a gateway to the middle of a highway, met my true-mate, witnessed an almost-fight, and paced a hundred miles in a waiting room worried that my ears didn’t pick something up soon enough. That last one killed me a bit, if I’m honest. I always hear everything first.”

“You did hear it first,” he said.

I let out a long, slow breath.

“Hey, come on. Let’s lay down,” he said, glancing at the bed. “I’m going to keep my pants on, though, because otherwise I don’t think we’ll get any sleep at all.”

I stretched out on my stomach and buried my face into the pillow for a second. It smelled vaguely of soap and a lot of raspberry pheromone blocker spray. It wasn’t uncommon to douse guestrooms in the stuff in an effort to make those using them feel more at home. I rolled onto my side as Travis crawled into the bed, still dressed except for his boots.

“Should I put my clothes back on?” I yawned.

“No,” Travis shook his head, pulling me close, “you look way too comfy to get back up.”

“I wasn’t thinking. I should’ve stayed dressed for when they came back home. They might need help.”

“I bet Dara keeps them awhile,” he yawned.

“Maybe, but wolves heal fast too, even omegas,” I said, entwining my fingers through his.

“I’ll get up if they need help,” Travis offered.

“I wonder what they named the baby,” I cuddled closer to him.

“Probably something cutesy knowing Dakota.”

“Opposed to what? Something terrible? What are they supposed to name their kid like onion or interrogation.”

“Onion? Really? That’s what you come up with for terrible things, mate?” Travis laughed, throwing his head back, and I kissed his throat in revenge.

He stiffened for a second until I pulled away, still breathing on his flesh on purpose.

“Would you want to be called onion?” I asked as our gaze met.

“I’ve been called worse,” he said, his eyes raking down my naked torso.

“Oh, really?”

“What? I’m not telling you what was worse than onion. You might tell your brother for baby name ideas,” Travis teased, trailing his fingers down my belly.

His digits hesitated at the waistband of my underwear. I answered by leaning in for a kiss and rocking my hips up toward his fingers. Exhaustion pulled at my thoughts, but his soft touch still stroked something inside me, urging me on. Travis didn’t slide his fingers inside my underwear, instead he grabbed my cock through the fabric, and drew teasing spirals over my shaft with his thumb. I leaned into him. The kiss started out soft, but the more I pressed against him, the faster his tongue swept around my mouth.

A footstep on the porch sent me upright, with my dick still in his hand.

“Huh?” Travis blinked, sleepily up at me.

“Someone’s—”

A key turned in the knob.

“It’s probably your brother,” he half laughed, half groaned turning onto his back. “Yep. Smells like your brother,” he added a second later. “I’ll check on them.”
