Chapter 21

Twenty-One

KODAN

A t the hospital, my omega princess looked frail, hooked up to so many wires.

We had been here the entire night, and she finally woke up an hour ago, muttering intelligible things before falling back asleep. The doctor said she had lost a substantial amount of blood and that they needed to keep an eye on her.

Bandages surrounded her neck from where the bastard had bitten her. I wished Seth would have at least given me a chance to kill the traitor, Voss.

Luke, Seth and I somberly sat in chairs lined up on one side of her bed while her mother and King Armon sat on the other side. After Lyra fainted, we rushed to the mainland for the hospital, and thankfully, we got there in time.

The long ride was the most harrowing trip of my life as I held her in my arms. I wasn't sure if she had very long to live, and I had never been so terrified in my life.

She had grown on me.

I didn't realize how deep my affection ran for her until she collapsed in Luke's arms. At that moment, my heart stopped like I had been stabbed. And that was when I knew. She was for me, and she was my omega.

I held her hand gently, watching her breathe peacefully on the hospital bed. Wisps of her blond hair lay messily around her face, flowing down her shoulders. She wore the blue patient gown over her body, which was doing nothing to cover her from the chilly room.

"Is there a blanket somewhere?" I asked the nurse, who was busy scribbling things onto her clipboard.

"For you?"

"For her," I said, looking at the goosebumps on Lyra's legs. The nurse looked annoyed when handing me the blanket, but I didn't care. I tucked the blanket around Lyra's body, ensuring she was warm and comfortable.

"You really care about her," her mother, Queen Ophelia, observed as I tucked in my omega.

King Armon refused to talk to Seth, my younger brother, due to their bloody history. The room was filled with strained silence. Luke was chewing on crackers, the package held loosely in his hand as he gazed upon our wife's face.

"He does," said Armon. Then he looked at Seth. "But I don't know about that one."

"She saved my soul. I care about her, too," said Seth. I let out a breath, grateful he didn't take the bait since he was a hothead growing up.

"But why are you here, though? Don't you know she's the princess, part of the Royal Pack?" said Armon, not letting it go and making this an awkward moment. I saw Seth sit up straighter in the chair, his jaw tensing.

His face reddened in anger.

"Do you still think you're better than everyone else? Torturing my father until he died?" he burst out, standing up and knocking the chair back with a crash.

"Seth!" I growled, grabbing his arm.

He was a lot stronger after being trapped as wolf for many years. Muscles bulged from his arms, and I wasn't sure how long I could hold him back if he attacked. I was angry at the king as well, but I had learned to temper it.

I had nothing but contempt for her fathers and how they operated the island. For years, I had wanted to enact revenge.

"You needed to be punished," said Armon calmly, sitting in his chair nonchalantly.

"But my father didn't do anything. He was innocent!" shouted Seth.

Seth lunged over the bed, pulling out of my grasp. Before he could reach Armon, the princess stretched out a small hand and touched his arm. His demeanor suddenly changed at her touch, the fire in his eyes dissipating.

"Are you okay?" she asked in a low voice, her blue eyes wide with panic seeing his body crouched over the bed.

"I need some air," he rasped, stalking out of the room without another glance at anyone.

Lyra

What was going on?

When I opened my eyes, the bright lights in the room nearly blinded me. Mother was sitting to my right, her face breaking into a wide smile upon seeing me awake.

I woke up briefly earlier, thinking that I was stuck in a nightmare. My body was covered in sweat from my heat. Shivering, I pulled the blanket off, grateful for the cool chill in the room.

"What happened?" I asked, looking around at the men surrounding me.

Luke gave me a one-armed hug.

The smell of his cologne caused a wave of desire to sweep through my entire body. Remembering I was in heat, I wanted to tell them what was happening to me, but my parents were right there.

"Nothing, daughter," said my dad, Armon. "Just the little sigma brother acting out."

"He has every right to be upset with you," Kodan interjected, balling his hands into fists.

"What are you all talking about?" I said, still feeling a bit woozy from my drugs.

"Nothing to worry your little head about," my father said in a loud voice, standing over Kodan.

Kodan equally stood up on the opposite side of the bed. They rounded my bed, and my heart rate increased from the sound of the heart monitor next to me.

"Whoa, there," said Luke, trying to get between them.

"The only reason I'm not killing you right now is because of your daughter," said Kodan.

"If my daughter had a choice, she'd leave you at this very moment," shouted Armon. "Try it. I will kill every last one of your men."

"Dad, stop, please," I tried to say loudly, but my voice came out in barely a whisper. I tried to sit up, but my mother held my shoulder down.

"They'll sort it out," my mom whispered, her eyes wide as she watched.

"Your daughter wants to be with me," said Kodan, his lips pulled back in a snarl. "She's my wife, after all."

"Do you want to be with this idiot?" my dad asked me. "If not, I'll give the orders to execute."

"Dad, stop," I pleaded. "Of course I want to be with him."

"Lyra, he's not good for you."

"He's good to me, dad. Please stop this," I said, exerting the last of my energy to calm him.

"I think it's time our visit is up," said Armon, grabbing his wife's hand. He was clearly unhappy with my answer.

"But Lyra," my mom protested, looking back at me. My dad huffed and looked like he regretted being rude to me.

He walked to my side of the bed and kissed my forehead.

"Do you feel okay, sweetheart?" he asked, looking me in the eyes with concern. I knew he cared about me, but being in the same room as Kodan was hard for him.

"It's just a scratch," I said, touching the bandages on my neck. "I feel a little tired, but I'm fine."

"You're our princess warrior. We'll be heading out for now, but we will visit you later," he promised.

"Alright, bye," I said as they hugged me. They left the hospital room, and I let out a long sigh.

I had no idea what happened between Kodan, Seth, and my dad, but I didn't want to get involved.

All I could concentrate on now- was how my body was feeling. I couldn't get cool enough as I squirmed on the bed in pain. My skin was hot and flushed. I was throbbing between my legs, like something was missing.

"What's wrong, my love?" asked Kodan, watching me as I fidgeted and squirmed on the bed.

"Pain in my belly," I gasped. "And a strange feeling of emptiness…"

"I think she's in heat," said Luke in a low voice.

"This is not supposed to be happening," I said, holding a hand between my legs to temper my aroused senses. The only people in the room were Kodan and Luke on each side of my bed. "I even took the heat suppressants."

"When did you take it?" asked Kodan.

"I don't know," I said, confused. My brain was a jumble ever since we saved his brother in the horrible cave. "Either way, I need help."

"We need to wait until you're discharged from the hospital," said Luke, rubbing my knee. I ached for that hand to move up a little higher, to finger me senseless and then fill me with his thick alpha knot.

"I can't wait that long," I begged.

Kodan leaned down and put his mouth to my ear. "Believe me; I'd rut you senseless right now if you were in full health and not in the hospital."

I clenched my thighs at his words as a drop of slick dampened my panties.

The curtain to the room slid open, and the nurse wheeled in a tray of food. My stomach growled, and Luke chuckled, hearing it. When the nurse left, Luke picked up the bowl of food and a spoon.

"You need to eat," Luke said, holding a spoonful of mashed potatoes to my face.

"I can't," I protested. "I need a knot right now."

"I will put my finger inside you while Luke feeds you," said Kodan at last. His eyes darkened with desire as he gazed at my body. "Does that work, baby?"

"Yes," I panted, spreading my legs for his thick fingers. I desperately needed some kind of relief.

His hand disappeared under the sheets. His warm hand rested on my thigh underneath the hospital gown. The heat on my skin increased, sensitive to his every touch as he rubbed me in circles.

"I will put one finger inside you if you take a bite," ordered Kodan. "Open your mouth for Luke."

"Fine," I said, opening my mouth as Luke fed me a spoonful of mashed potatoes. While the food was in my mouth, Kodan inserted his thick middle finger inside my wet channel. My pussy clamped tight around his finger as I swallowed the mashed potatoes. The soft, gooeyness of the potatoes was delicious against my tongue. "More."

As I took another spoonful, Kodan pushed in a second finger inside me, stretching me wider.

"Good girl," Kodan praised.

Seth

I watched Armon and his wife from the parking lot as they drove away.

The Royal Pack didn't deserve to live after what they did to my father.

Standing by the corner of the building, I couldn't tear myself away from the omega princess inside. I couldn't explain it. Since the moment she touched my werewolf paw, there was a pull she had over me. No omega was brave enough to do that.

She was the only reason I didn't destroy her family.

The entire Royal Pack was responsible for many deaths. Sigmas were treated like outcasts, so I had peacefully protested for years until they decided to imprison my father. When my father was taken, I ramped up more support, and the protests became deadlier on both sides. We were being picked off. The day my father's death was announced was the day I lost it. I never forgot the crying mothers and the dying beggars as I commanded my men to attack Howl's Edge.

And it was the exact day I was cursed by the island witch.

"No omega will ever love you. You will be doomed to stay forever in this form until your death," said the witch.

And yet, in my heart, I felt that the omega inside the hospital was my fated mate.
