Aiden

One Year Later

I stand beside Bella as she cradles our baby to her chest, standing in the same office a year later to register our son. Mr. Anderson will not be assisting us today.

He was convicted of taking bribes and selling government secrets before being sentenced to life imprisonment. I assume he couldn't handle the thought of being incarcerated because they found him dead in his home the following morning.

Luckily, none of his bonding ceremonies were retracted and Bella and I could finally breathe easy.

We have grown closer, getting to know each other better every day. Yes, our story isn't traditional and didn't have a great start by any means, but it is our story, and we love each other. We have made it this far and have only grown stronger together.

In the beginning I didn't think she would ever fit in my world but now she completes it. When my days have been rough, she offers me a place to be away from all the noise of the outside world.

A woman walks in drawing me from my thoughts.

"I am Miss White," she introduces herself with a nod. "I see we have a healthy baby to register today."

Her smile is bright as she looks down at Tristan, our baby boy.

"Yes," Bella replies with a smile of her own. "This is Tristan Black, son of Aiden and Bella Black."

Miss White nods as she writes down the information. "When he reaches twelve you will need to bring him in to have him designated," she explains.

"We are aware," I add with an eye roll. Bella hits me in the ribs with her elbow.

"I know it's a lot of things to do before he can begin his life as a productive part of society, but it's for the greater good."

I want to tell her exactly how I feel about the government and the greater good, but I keep my thoughts to myself. Once we sign his registration form, Bella and I walk out into the bright sunshine. Taking our son, I put him in his car seat and make sure he is secure.

Turning to my omega, I grin, pushing her against the side of the car. I kiss her deeply, pouring all my love into that single action.

"Thank you," I say once I pull away, resting my forehead against hers.

"For?"

"Making my life better."

She smiles, kissing me again.

"Can we go anywhere without the two of you groping each other?" Dehlia, my mother-in-law asks from behind me. "It's nauseating."

"Whatever," Bella mumbles with a giggle.

I lead her around the car before opening the door and allowing her to slide in. The frilly blue dress she is wearing skims across her thighs and I know the moment we get home I will be flipping it over her ass and burying myself in her heat.

"Are you coming home with us?" I ask Dehlia.

"No, no. I'm having lunch with some friends," she says with a smile.

Her health has improved by leaps and bounds since she had her procedure. Now she has an active social life and is enjoying every day to the fullest.

"You were right, you know?"

"I'm always right, Aiden," she says and chuckles. "You'll need to specify what you're talking about."

I chuckle before speaking. "The day we met you said I was one of those Alphas. The ones that think omegas are just possessions."

"I remember," she replies with a chuckle of her own.

"I finally understand what you meant."

She pats my cheek. "I knew you would. Even then, I could tell you were a decent man."

Laughter bursts out of me. "I wouldn't go that far."

"You are a good man," she says, making sure I listen. "You saved me and Bella. I would be dead if it wasn't for your interference. And you make my daughter happy. That's more than good enough for me."

I don't know how to respond to her words so I hug her tightly before getting in the car.

"What was that about?" Bella asks.

"Just bonding with my mother-in-law."

She laughs and as always the sound fills me. I can't believe I got this lucky and all it cost me was five million dollars.
