Chapter 11
Tuesday was a day for more errands. Megan set up an account at a local credit union and applied for a credit card. It was definitely time to untangle her finances from Brad’s. After she finished that major priority, she started checking off a host of lesser priorities. She was feeling pretty good about the day when her phone buzzed. A new text.
Brad: You need to come home before I press charges for kidnapping my daughter
Megan: I didn’t kidnap our daughter. I took her to safety
Brad: ????
Megan: Just stop
We need to have a mature conversation About us
About Sophia
Brad: Then come home and we can talk
Megan: That is not the answer. I’m not in a good place to have that conversation and you aren’t either
Brad: Then when
Megan: I don’t know. Maybe Saturday. Maybe we’ll have cooled down by then.
Brad: ??
Stop stealing my money
Megan: Fucking hell Brad
It’s a JOINT account. That’s my money in there too Now you’re just pissing me off again
If you ever want to have a real conversation then you need to back the fuck off
Brad: Fine
Megan let him have the last word, because she knew that he would drag this on. She felt like she had two children in her life, and Sophia was the more mature one. Her phone buzzed again with a new text. What now?
Tasha: Hey, girl
Megan: Glad its you Brad just texted me
Tasha: What did that shithead want
Megan: The usual
Tasha: Is his head still stuck in his ass
Megan: Like I said The usual

Megan: And you said that I should go with wild colors

Megan: Kidding!!!!!
After even more time passed, Tasha finally replied.

After recommending The Sounds to Tasha, she decided to listen to them as well. Megan put her headphones on and fired up their first album. As “Dance With Me” started playing, she checked to see when her bus was coming. Pretty soon. Tasha was right about Portland being fairly easy to get around on transit. She relaxed and immersed herself in the beat.
