7. Sage
Chapter seven
Sage
A ccording to Xavier’s logic, this is our seventh date. Every single one of them has been perfect. We just finished having a delicious dinner at a fancy Asian restaurant and then he took me to a coffee shop known for their hot chocolate. Now, we’re bunded up and walking at the park by our place, hand in hand and enjoying the evening.
I take a sip of my candied peppermint hot chocolate and moan. Damn, this is so freaking good.
The last few dates have been truly enchanting. Out of habit, this would be about the time I need to brace myself for the inevitable. But deep down, my fox and I know this is where we are meant to be.
Xavier abruptly stops me, and the worried look on his face makes my heart drop. Oh no. Did I just jinx myself?
“I have something important I need to share with you.”
I nod cautiously, on edge.
“Remember when I asked you what your fox said about me?”
Relief washes over me. Was this what he wanted to discuss? Excitment buzzes through me. I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to approach this. “You’re my mate aren’t you?”
He stares in disbelief, his mouth hanging open. “You know?”
My grin widens as I squeeze his hand and continue our walk. “I’m sorry it took so long to figure it out. But I know we are meant to be together.” I bounce on my toes, unable to hide my excitment. “My fox says we’re mates.”
“And you’re okay with this? With me?”
“Of course, Xavier. You’ve been so kind to me, we have great chemistry. really great chemistry. It’s almost magical.
He coughs lightly. “Actually, it’s true, we’re fated.”
His serious expression catches my eye as I look in his direction. It’s clear that he’s wringing his hands together. He’s sweating, with tiny drops on his forehead, and he’s biting his full bottom lip. My poor alpha. I made him nervous. And he’s terrified of my reaction.
He pulls me in for a fiery kiss, and we start making out in the park. We’re both still holding our melting ice cream cones, letting the drips fall onto the ground.
He slides his tongue into my mouth and I start sucking, savoring the delicious chocolate on my alpha’s tongue. I’ve been so caught up in how he makes me feel that I haven’t noticed how aroused I am.
I’m feeling feverish and lightheaded. Gasping, I break free from his hold.
I feel my eyes widen as I notice the unmistakable sensation of wetness between my legs.
“Um. Xavier?”
“Yes, my handsome omega?”
“I’m going into heat.”
