L eera’s declaration is immediately followed by Khaos shouting, “Over here!”

She turns to me with wide eyes and takes off running towards his voice. She stumbles over a rock and cries out when she realizes it's not a rock but a skull, belonging to someone from his pack.

I pull her to me, trying to shield her from the death and anguish surrounding us. I lift her, carrying her the rest of the way to where he's standing behind a home, where a tree has fallen over a cellar door.

I set her down gently. My men and I walk over and each take a place at the tree. My heart is pounding in my chest, and my wolf is restless. I look over to Leera to make sure she's safe. She's just staring at me with wide and hopeful eyes.

I shake the weird feeling off and focus on lifting this massive tree away from the door. The men gather round, and we all lift when Benny calls, “Now.”

Once we've cleared the door, Khaos pulls it open. Leera begins to lean in to help, but I snatch her back. We don't know who or what is down there, and she's definitely not going to be the one to find out.

Khaos steps into the cellar, and a few minutes later, he comes out with a woman I've never seen before, but my wolf takes notice. That's when I notice she looks oddly familiar. She's got long, dark hair, so dark it's almost black, but you can tell in the sun that it's still brown. She also has the brightest green eyes I've seen in a very long time…nearly seven hundred years.

“It's not possible,” I breathe, while the bond thumps between us.

Leera's attention swings to me with worry, and she jolts towards me. “Roman, what's wrong?”

“Speak!” I demand of the stranger.

“I'm sorry, Roman, you weren't supposed to know,” she says meekly, with all eyes on her.

“Who the fuck are you?” I roar.

She doesn't even flinch.

“What are you talking about? She's been a part of my pack since nearly the beginning,” Khaos joins the conversation.

“It was the only place I didn't think I'd ever run into you,” she tells me.

Leera's growing irritated now. “Look, we have enough going on here without you hovering around whatever has him all riled up,” she finishes, wiggling her fingers between us to emphasize her point.

She smiles at Leera weakly before she turns to me. “You're not supposed to know I exist. You're not supposed to know what he did to her...” she trails off and hangs her head.

“WHO. ARE. YOU?!” I command with my alpha energy.

She's visibly trying to hold it in until she can't any longer, “I'm sorry, Roman. I'm your sister.”
