Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Elizabeth

Iignore the protesting woman and walk towards the man hogging an entire table to himself. The bastards should have put us at the front table. I'm reduced to making a scene at a shitty charity event. Everyone in the country knows who the Linden family is.

I compose myself and put my sultry look on. It never fails to convert men into dithering idiots.

"Excuse me, Sir. Could we join you at your table? There has been a terrible mix-up tonight with the tables."

I came here in place of my parents, and I will not lose an opportunity to look altruistic. The opportunity rarely occurs, and with a few carefully crafted pictures at this event, it might appear that I give a fuck about the homeless.

When the man looks up from his meal, my breath catches in my throat. He is damn handsome. His blue eyes are a shade darker than mine. Irrespective of the tux covering his upper body, he looks muscular and powerful.

I'm not too keen on his dark hair, however. I prefer the blonde Brad Pitt look alike. I frown at his jawline. Could he not have bothered to shave for the event?

When my eyes return to him, I notice him looking at my chest. I smirk. This will be easy. His eyes glanced up at me briefly before he focused on his food again.

I almost stomp my foot until I remember wearing my favourite Jimmy Choo's.

"Excuse me, Sir?" I said in a tight voice.

When he continues to chew his food and ignore me, I glare at the top of his head. How fucking rude?

I slap my clutch onto the table, and he continues to cut into his steak. I slap my other hand down on the table, leaning down to see his face.

"Are you fucking deaf?" I hissed at him.

His head finally lifts from his plate, and he pops a piece of meat into his mouth. My eyes flick down to his lips as he licks them.

He lifted his shoulder in a half shrug before lifting his red wine and raising it to his lips.

My eyes narrow in on his. He is ignoring me. Me! Lady Elizabeth Linden.

He places his glass on the table and delicately dabs his lips with a white napkin. Perhaps he could have passed for a gentleman if it wasn't for his poor manners and gorilla-shaped paws.

Why am I abasing myself in front of someone of little importance? I swing away from him, flicking my hair back and face my girls. They are looking at the man. I snap my fingers at them.

"Let's go sit down," I said stiffly, not wanting to say anything further in front of the odious man.

I march towards the table that the bitch had allocated for us. I'm going to ensure Daddy has her fired.

Once we sit down, it's not long till our food arrives. I grimace at the food my parents ordered.

"Don't you have a vegan option?" I asked the server. It's the latest trend.

"No. I'm sorry, Miss. We do have a vegetarian option. It's caramelised red onions and goat"s cheese tartlets with a rocket salad."

I suppose I could eat the salad and the pastry crust. My pills suppress my appetite so that I won't need much.

I look at Cecelia and Marie, who are eating the food given to them. The bitches will probably throw it all up in the toilets later.

"Fine, it will need to do."

I will email the foundation regarding their shoddy menus. I watch my friends eat before I look around to see where the best spot is to take some pictures. Smiling when I see the perfect place, I pull out my mirror to check my hair and face. These fat heifers can make themselves useful after they have stuffed their faces.

I glance at Marie. She looks good tonight.

"Are you sure you should be eating that, Marie?" I said with faux concern.

She frowns slightly and puts her fork down from the beef.

"You're right." She waves the waiter over for some drinks.

I smirk into my mirror before snapping it shut.

"Yes, let's hope the drink is better than everything else I've had to endure here tonight."

Cecelia glances at me.

"Do you know who that was?"

I frown at her in confusion.

"The man you spoke to for the table." She said in an exasperated tone.

My eyes flick towards him. He looked at his phone.

"I don't recognise him," I said, looking back at Cecelia.

"That's because he isn't caught on camera much. That is Zak Henderson, the tech billionaire. Rumour has it he is fucked up in the head and hides out in a remote mansion."

"Woah," I said before glancing back at the dick.

I smile broadly at my friends.

"Money can't buy class, ladies." I love rubbing it into them every chance I can get. The girls don't have a title like me. We remained friends from high school to Uni because we were all in the same boarding school.

Cecelia throws me a calculated look.

"He could buy and sell your Daddy a few times over."

I shoot her a venomous look.

Marie raises her hands to get our attention. Cecelia looks over at her, but my eyes remain on Cecelia. She is going to regret her words.

Before I can say anything, the waitress brings my food. I groan. The strong smell of the cheese turns my stomach.

"I've changed my mind. Take it away, please."

She looks uncomfortable, but she picks up the plate and walks away.

"We need to get to a club after this shithole tonight." I groaned to the girls.

Some strategic selfies here and then at the hottest club in the city. My followers deserve only the best.

I make good money off the losers.
