Epilogue Yu-jin

"Do humans really get this crazy about getting married?" Lucian asks as the bridal shower scene of Bridesmaids plays on.

The movie choice for the night has nothing to do with me and everything to do with Jace.

"They do," Jace answers and puts his plate on the table.

Brim, who's been lying on the floor by our feet, jumps at the sudden move and sound and glares at my friend.

"Why?" Lucian asks, taking another bite of my bulgogi.

I've never grilled anything, but Mom's instructions in her notebook were so clear it was literally like she'd been beside me, guiding me with her hands rather than her words. And I have to admit, I'm very pleased with the result.

"Because humans are cray-cray," Jace sings.

He puts his hand between the glaring hellcat's eyes and rubs circles. Brim settles back down and starts purring.

Lucian reaches for his beer and turns to me as he sips.

"What?" I ask, feeling his gaze on me.

"Are you going to act like that during the lead-up to our wedding?"

I gasp.

"How dare you? Have I ever given you any indication I'd be like that?"

Lucian shakes his head.

"Do you expect me to act like that?"

Huh. Is he really that clueless about our wedding customs?

And just when I think he can't surprise me anymore…

"No, Lucian. This is a comedy. Also, this is everything that's wrong with the wedding industry. We don't need to go crazy because we're tying the knot."

"Oh good." He breathes a sigh of relief, moves a hand to the back of my neck, and massages me.

It's got just enough strength to make me groan and just enough smoothness to give me all sorts of goosebumps.

Goosebumps that travel all the way south, threatening to make me hard?—

Damn. Too late.

I let him massage me and take another bite of my beef instead. Maybe if I focus enough on the bulgogi, I'll forget about his hand and what it does to the bulge in my pants.

"Say, Lucian, if you don't know what weddings are like, how do you even know to propose or offer a ring?" Jace asks and picks up his beer for a sip.

Lucian stops staring at me and turns to face my friend.

"I may not know all your customs, but I know what marrying someone means. We get married in hell, too, you know. But we don't have any of those things." He flicks a hand at the TV, and Jace laughs.

"What? You mean you don't have devil bridesmaids fighting to death to be Demon of Honor?" He laughs.

"We do not." Lucian's face is as serious as ever, and I can't help but pinch his cheek.

"He's kidding, babe."

"Oh. I didn't realize."

"That's okay."

I rub his face, the mere contact making me both hot and putting me at ease. No one in this world has that effect on me, only him. Only he has the ability to drive me to the edge by simply wrapping me in his arms and making me feel at home with just a smirk.

When I ordered that summoning kit, I never expected my life to change so much in such little time. And to think that was only two and a half weeks ago. It feels like a lifetime since my beautiful demon killed my step-family and freed me from their bond. And like an eternity since he saved me from Ryan and his gang of spoiled privileged assholes. A forever ago since he asked me to marry him.

Sometimes, I wake up, and I think it's a dream. I feel as if I imagined it all, as if my need to be free planted seeds in my sleep and made me live an entire life with my eyes closed. But then I open them and find him in my bed, always, every morning, and I know it's all real.

And even when that brings me doubt, I have the silver ring on my finger to remind me I'm his. And he is mine.

"Have you two set a date yet?" Jace asks.

I blink to return to the here and now, and I shake my head.

"Not yet. We're still trying to find the perfect spot," I say.

"Location is important for us demons," Lucian explains.

"Really? Why?" Jace asks.

Lucian purses his lips from side to side, something I haven't seen him do before, but it's so adorable that I don't want him to stop. He's always so sure of himself. It's cute to see him uncertain.

"It has to feel right for both of us. It's like meeting your soulmate. The place is where your love is engraved through time and space. Or that's the idea. I guess it's like one of your human customs."

"Awww, Lucian, that's so sweet. Let me know if you need help looking."

I pat my friend's back and offer everyone another beer. I get up to get new bottles from the fridge.

"Whoa! Boner alert!" Jace screams and covers his eyes when I stand and pass by him.

I have no idea what he's talking about. That is until I look down and find my dick tenting my pants.

"Oops. Sorry." I laugh and readjust on my way to the fridge.

"That better not have been for me!" Jace shouts, followed by a roar that may sound like Brimfang but has come out of Lucian's mouth.

"Don't be stupid."

I return to the couch, and Jace covers his eyes preemptively. I put a new bottle in Jace's lap and settle back down, this time in Lucian's arms.

"No, my boner is all thanks to this man."

Jace keeps a hand on the side of his eyes and takes a sip of his beer.

"Then you better peel yourself off, Mr. Jung, because the last thing I want to see tonight is soft porn."

"Who says we do it softly?" I ask.

Jace chokes. I pat his back, and he shakes me off him as he coughs, trying to clear his throat.

"Don't touch me. I don't know where those hands have been."

"My hands have been nowhere. My tail, on the other hand…" I concentrate for half a second, put a little pressure on my tailbone, and my tail comes out to play. I might have to invest in new pants with an opening for my tail because I can't keep ripping all of them.

I run the tip behind Jace's ear, and he jumps off the couch.

"You're disgusting. Put that thing away. Now!"

As Jace glares, Lucian presses me closer to him and bites my earlobe.

"No one plays with my tail," he growls in my ear.

That certainly doesn't help the boner situation, but I obey and pull back my tail, draping it over the back of the sofa. It swings left to right, the motion and excitement giving me goosebumps. It's so strange having an appendage with a mind of its own. Well, another appendage.

"There. Better now?" I ask.

Jace grimaces and slowly sits back down.

"No. It's not better now."

"Come on. You know I clean it in between…sessions, right?"

Lucian coughs, the vibration of his chest making me bite my tongue.

I don't know what it is, but I've changed since last week, since I bonded with Mr. Tails. In fact, I don't even hear its voice anymore. Or have those images that somehow translate to words in my head. It's like…

It's like it and I have become…one. And that's made me more confident, more salacious. More…fearless.

I can't say I dislike it. It's better than being overwhelmed by fear on a daily basis. But I guess it's made me a little sassier, a fact Lucian dislikes, especially when he's not the subject of my flirtation.

Not that I'm flirting with Jace. I'm just teasing. Which I guess is a whole new level to our friendship neither of us is used to.

"Maybe you do, but do I need to remind you that thing has been through Ryan's brain? I'd like it away from any parts of my body, thank you very much."

I roll my eyes and nuzzle against Lucian.

"I cleaned it after that too."

"That's not that point." Jace shudders. "By the way, the spell seems to have worked all around. Everyone on campus keeps wondering where they are. Even those who were there when all three of them died."

Shortly after proposing to me, Lucian got to work creating a spell in the school lab and cast it over the whole dormitory so everyone forgot what happened in the past few hours while Brimfang took care of the bodies and I cleaned the blood from Ryan's room.

Which means everyone woke up the next day having no clue where the three witches were. I also reported the gym events to the dean, and he concluded that Ryan and his friends had run away to avoid punishment.

"Yeah, well, that's my baby. He knows how to take care of business."

Jace looks up at Lucian, narrows his eyes, and nods slowly.

"Yeah. He does, doesn't he?"

At first, I was worried the spell hadn't worked, that it was too big, too ambitious, but the fact that no one's pointed their finger at us proves me wrong.

Once again, Lucian has protected me. He saved my life, and once again, I owe him everything. Without his and Jace's help, I'd be dead. Or worse, a prisoner of Ryan and his lackeys.

But I'm not.

I'm free and stronger than ever.

Thanks to my demon charming. I smile and hug my future demon husband close.

He's my everything.

Forever and after.
