Epilogue - Lucian

Beingin this world feels good. Being on Earth, feels good. But being with him feels better.

I've been alive for so long that it's not even humorous anymore. And all this time, I never thought I'd find my true mate, the person I would instantly die to protect and would do the same for me. The person who would get me and want me. The person I would need like sustenance. Like a drug.

The person who would need me.

And yet…

I turn around and look at him. My Yu-jin. My darling boy.

He's everything I could have ever asked for and more.

He glances at me, and my heart burns brighter. My entire body yearns for him. From the tip of my toes to the ends of my wings, and I know…I know he's the one.

He's the one I'm meant to spend eternity with.

Should I tell him? Should I let him know we're bound to one another? That he shall live as long as I do and I as long as him. That our lives are so intertwined it's as if they're one?

"What?" he asks.

I open my mouth.

He sucks on his straw and his cheeks turn hollow as he tastes the liquid in his cup.

He looks so innocent. So young and sensitive, but I know the real power inside him. That tentacled monster, as good as it felt, is only the beginning.

"Nothing." I shake my head and take a sip of my drink too.

Its sweetness is a welcome addition to my taste buds, but those chewy things invade my mouth, and I hold back a choke. "I…this drink is strange."

It's better if he doesn't know. Yet. He may be strong, but he's been through so much. My stomach twists at the memories. At the idea of how much he endured under those bastards.

I wish I could kill them all over again. Just me. Not Yu-jin. I wish I could bring them back to life just so I could rip them to shreds with my bare teeth. To torture them for as long as they kept him captive. To torture them for all eternity.

How one could look into those beautiful brown eyes and think evil things, I'll never know.

What I do know is I won't let anyone—anyone—hurt him ever again.

"I can't believe you know all this stuff about magic, but you've never tried bubble tea before."

He bumps my shoulder playfully. Well, my elbow, seeing as he's so much smaller than me and can't reach my shoulder.

Not unless he has some eldritch help. My cock twitches at the memory. At the prospect.

"Well, whenever I've been on Earth, I have been otherwise occupied."

Yu-jin smiles with a nod.

"So? What's the verdict? Do you like it?"

I stop in my tracks and turn to face him.

"I…I love it!"

His cheeks turn red in an instant, and I can't help but twitch again. He's so handsome when he's shy.

"I love it too," he answers, and I know we're not talking about the tea anymore. Maybe we never were.

I take him in my arms and lift him up so I can kiss him. My wings tease at my back, begging to come out, but we're in public, and as much as I don't give a shit about mortals finding out about the magical world, about demons, I really should hold back. Especially now, with my new position.

His lips stick to mine like honey and I taste both him and his bubble tea in them, on his tongue, in his breath. My oxygen.

That's what he is. My oxygen. My reason to breathe. My reason to live.

I spent so long bound to humans, bound to people who only wanted to use me, but he is different. I want to be bound to him. To be with him for as long as I live.

Isn't that quite something?

"I love you," I tell him just so he has no doubt.

I never want him to doubt my love for him.

"I love you too, Lucian."

He kisses me again, and his cock grows harder against mine.

Its touch starts a fire within me. A fire I want to nurture with all I've got.

"Oh my Goddess. Please. Get a room, you two."

Yu-jin turns and jumps off me. I hate it.

"Oh. Hey, Jace." Yu-jin fixes his hair and straightens his shirt, and the boy named Jace laughs.

He's a handsome kid, young like Yu-jin, with dark skin, curly hair hidden under a fedora, and some of the most expressive black eyes I've ever seen.

Before I met Yu-jin, he'd be the type of human I'd take to bed. But now, my bed, my arms, and my cock, my entire body and soul, are reserved for Yu-jin and Yu-jin only.

"Lucian, that's my friend, Jace." He points from me to Jace, and I reach out a hand. "He's the one who helped me get the summoning kit."

"H…hi. Jace Starling. Pleasure to meet you," he stutters.

His magic pulses under his skin and wraps around my senses like a charm. It's powerful but cool. It leaves an emptiness inside.

"You're a necromancer."

Jace pulls back and rubs his hand as if I've hurt him. He bites his lip and nods.

"You…you're a demon."

I smirk.

"I am."

"Whoa. Your magic is…whoa," he says.

"Wait 'til you feel his." I look at my darling boy, and he blushes yet again.

"Oh yeah. Your magic. What's that all about. You ignited?"

"Sort of." Yu-jin casts a glance at me.

Jace takes the same hand and reaches for Yu-jin. My guts expand, screaming at me, wanting to scorch the young boy before he dares invade my mate's privacy.

"Wow. You are magic! That's…that's amazing. So, is it true? You are coming to the academy?"

Yu-jin nods.

It only took a week to sort out Yu-jin's early enrollment and find a place to call home, right above his mother's store that was rightfully his once again. The police are still looking for the Taylors. Brimfang made sure they'll never be found.

"That's why I asked you to meet me here. I…I'm coming with you." Yu-jin did a twirl, showing Jace his backpack as if it's the most essential item for his studies.

"That's great, Yu-jin. I can't believe it." Jace hugs him, and I have to use all my strength to tame the beast roaring inside.

Not only because of what the Taylors did to him but because…Yu-jin is mine.

"So we're going to school? Now? Together?"

"Yup." Yu-jin offers his friend the other bubble tea he'd put in the bottle holder of his backpack. Jace accepts it and pierces the lid with the straw.

"Thanks, bud. Although I'm not sure I'm happy about you seeing me fail on your first day at school."

"Fail? Why fail?"

They start walking side by side, and I follow close behind, watching for potential threats. For anything that may harm my darling boy and his friend, even though I'm not sure I like how he's linked hands with my Yu-jin.

"Because…I'm gonna fail my necromancy class, like so bad."

"But…you're a necromancer."

"Tell me something I don't know. Apparently a really crappy one. Anyway. Let's not talk about me. Tell me about you. What did you need the kit for? Did you want to lose your virginity to a demon?"

I growl. Jace looks back at me, but if he's scared, he doesn't show it. Or seem to care.

"No. I…um…I think it's time I finally told you."

"Tell me what?"

Yu-jin glances at me and then refocuses on his friend as he tells him about the Taylors. In far more detail than I thought he would.

By the time he finishes, we've reached a set of iron gates and a sign that reads Lockwood Academy for Young Witches and Nightcrawlers.

Beyond them is a bright-green campus and a castle, an unusual sight on American land but very imposing nonetheless.

"Yu-jin! I'm so sorry. I can't believe you never told me." Jace hugs him again. This time, I don't growl—by some miracle. "I mean, I know you couldn't, but still. That's awful. And you!" He turns to me. "Thank you so much for helping him out of this. You're the best."

"He truly is." Yu-jin bats his lashes at me, and when his cheeks turn rosy, I know it's not because he's shy but because he burns for me just like I do for him.

I close the distance between us and kiss the top of his head.

"Go on. You're going to be late. You can't be late on your first day."

He nods, and the gates open to receive them.

"What…what are you going to do all day?" Jace asks.

Yu-jin looks at me with as much anticipation as Jace.

"I'll find something to keep me busy." I smirk.

The two boys walk onto the campus, and I finally let my wings out and fly away.

When I land again, I walk through a door in a big torch-lit room where a couple dozen students stare right at me.

"Welcome, everyone, to Demonology 101." I search their faces, and it doesn't take long to find him.

Yu-jin. My darling boy.

His mouth is wide open.

So fucking delectable.

I can't wait to fuck it nice and slow later.
