Epilogue Gingersnap

S ix weeks later—

Brick kidnapped me.

I didn’t think he’d actually do it since he waited a week before he went through with it.

For the past five weeks, I’d been his prisoner. Okay, it wasn’t actually a jail cell. Hell, it wasn’t even a hardship.

Brick spoiled me. Anything I wanted, he got it for me.

The catch? I had to stay at the safe house, which meant I lost my freedom, and I hated it.

“I’m not risking you, Ginny,” he explained for the tenth time in the last two weeks. “Your safety is my priority.”

“For how long?”

“Until the threat is eliminated.”

Yeah, not a great answer.

That conversation was five days ago, and I hadn’t spoken to Brick since. No talking. No sex. I ignored him, and the big, growly brute was growing agitated about it.

But that wasn’t what worried me. It was all the questions I still had. The things I didn’t know about my father, the club, and their enemy, the Crimson Skulls. Those secrets got him killed, and they were the reason I had to live in hiding with a constant bodyguard.

My hand lowered to my stomach. And now it had grown more complicated.

I had suspected that I conceived the first night I spent with Brick. He made no effort to hide the fact that he wanted to breed me. Okay, another harsh observation. It wasn’t like I didn’t enjoy the sex or agreed to him filling me with his cum. We didn’t use protection. It turned me on that he couldn’t resist trying to knock me up.

I wanted this baby. And yes, I still wanted Brick as much as I did that night. The part that bothered me was the thought of raising a child in this mess or my baby facing the possibility that we could lose Brick. It terrified me.

Brick didn’t know about the baby. I hadn’t taken a test to confirm it yet, but I knew. I hadn’t had a period since the night we spent at Birdseye’s cabin. Six weeks.

I was having Brick’s child. That part was certain.

The future? I didn’t have a clue.

I had a secret, and I wasn’t sure how long it would be before Brick figured it out.

SIX WEEKS AGO, I brOUGHT Ginny home for Christmas.

The week after Christmas? I kidnapped her.

Now? I stood outside the bathroom door and listened to her puke, feeling terrible that she was ill but also hoping it had a reason. I’d bought a pregnancy test that morning and stashed it under the sink, hoping she had a reason to use it.

She groaned as she opened the door. “I feel like shit.”

“Anything I can do for you?”

“No.” She shook her head, and I closed my eyes, wanting to ask but trying not to push the issue before she was ready.

We stood on shaky ground since I brought her to the safe house. She resented the reasons I had to hide her away and, in her shoes, I would have felt the same. But we didn’t know what the fuck the Crimson Skulls were planning. They already tried to kill us once.

Didn’t she understand that this was the only way I had to protect her?

“I need to lay down. I’m so tired.”

Don’t forget I’m here, Baby. Always. Doesn’t matter if you’re upset or angry, that won’t change.

“Okay. Let me help you get settled.”

I didn’t mention it was the first time she’d spoken to me in days. Her silence pissed me off, but I wasn’t angry with Ginny. It was the reason why I had to use a safe house.

She curled onto her side, and I covered her with a blanket, brushing the hair back from her face as her eyes fluttered. My sweet girl was breathing deeply within seconds.

She had a big secret, and I let her keep it. For now.

I’d let too much time pass before I sat down and answered the questions I knew she had about her dad and his death.

Everyone had sheltered her from the truth, but that didn’t help Ginny. It did more harm than good.

We had a fight on our hands. War was brewing with the Crimson Skulls. My club needed revenge, and I needed justice for Hesh.

But there was another reason I never anticipated. I had fallen in love with Hesh’s daughter, and she carried my child. I wouldn’t hesitate to vindicate my brother, but now I had to protect his legacy, too.

My woman. My child.

And in the process, I’d find fucking redemption.
