Epilogue Cord
" T here is no way in hell that you're ever touching me again, Cord. You get this one child and then I'm getting you an appointment to get snipped."
She doesn't mean it.
But there's a look in her eye I don't like and I immediately work to find the doctor.
"We're gonna go in this room. From the contractions I'd say we're close so don't go far, Daddy."
My head spins. "I'm gonna be a daddy."
"Don't you dare faint!"
Audrey grins. "I love her."
I grimace at her. "You're twisted. All those zeros behind your salary since my newest book went bestseller should be enough to make you be nice to me."
She grunts and picks up a magazine. "Yeah. I'm not easy like that."
I follow the nurse and they get me scrubbed up and then I'm standing with. My wife and watching sweat drip down her brow and her eyes gut me like a fish.
"You are so dead."
After five kids you'd think she'd know the drill.
But it's over quickly. After the doctor struts in and grins. "Let's have a baby!"
It only takes about twenty minutes and I'm standing there staring down at my sixth daughter. And she's just as beautiful as the other five. Just like her mama. Right down to the beautiful emerald eyes.
"She is gorgeous, angel."
"I want to call her Sloan." I just smile at her. "Anything you want, my angel."
I glance down at the bundle in my arms, her brow scrunched up tight. "Sloan it is."
Her fist comes out and bats my hand before wrapping tight around my finger.
She's gonna have me wrapped around her finger forever. Just like her siblings and their beautiful mama.
I lean down and place her on Dixie's chest, watching her nurse. "I never thought I'd find the right place for me. But as soon as I met you…I knew. Wherever you are is home."
She smiles up at me. "Forever."
I smile back and put an arm around her tightly. "Always."
