CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

P iper sat in a car across the street from Sage’s house and watched the harem of men go in and out.

Okay, fine, two men. But still.

Who the hell were they?

She had met Ari whateverhisnamewas , and now there were two men were standing on the sidewalk together.

Maybe it was because she was an investigative reporter for Seattle Daily News or she was just a protective sister, but something didn’t feel right. For starters, Sage had never dated a man like Ari before. Her sister was pretty, for sure, but the man was a walking Adonis.

Now suddenly there were two of them?

What the hell had Sage gotten herself involved with?

Piper narrowed her eyes as Ari walked back into Sage’s house and Number Two walked to a silver car, which looked as if it cost more than her house. He climbed into the driver’s seat, and as it pulled away from the curb, she saw the badge.

Maserati.

Jesus Christ. These men were wealthy.

Perhaps she worked with them at BioZen?

Piper snorted.

In no universe did scientists look like these men. Not hers, nor Sage’s.

Piper pulled out and followed the car. Unsurprisingly, she found herself in a more affluent part of Seattle. Keeping a distance, at least two cars behind, she wove through the traffic. Soon they arrived in Medina and the houses turned into mansions. Mansions into estates.

Yup, she knew this was where all the billionaires lived. So what the heck was Sage doing hanging with dangerous-looking rich dudes?

Drugs? No way.

She slowed as the car turned into a driveway and enormous gates opened. When they closed, she drove slowly past and took in the number on the post.

1199 Medina Coast Road.

Well, that gave her something to work with.
