CHAPTER SEVEN

S age lay blinking at the ceiling as the morning light streamed through a gap in her curtains. Memories of the night before came rushing back, and even if she’d had amnesia, the aches in her body would have given her a clue about what she’d been up to.

She just wasn’t sure how she felt about it.

“Holy shit.” She whispered into the emptiness of the room.

She’d never had so many orgasms in her life. Who was she kidding? It wasn’t the amount she’d had, but the quality of them. She’d felt like she was going to explode. They were like full body orgasms.

The kind that made you scream.

And she had.

But that wasn’t the holy shit part. Sage hadn’t just experienced a wild night of sex with a man. She’d had two men pleasuring her.

Two men.

Every time she moved, her body ached. Her nipples were sore, and her hips felt bruised. Inside felt... joyful.

Weird. But accurate.

Oh God, and she’d had unprotected sex. About twenty-five times.

And two men.

Sage closed her eyes and felt Oliver’s hands on her body, his mouth taking hers and the way he’d guided his cock between her lips. There had been a playful assertiveness to him, which she liked, but it was Ari’s touch that sent her to heaven.

Whether his mouth was on her pussy, he was inside her, or wrapped around her, Sage had not wanted it to end.

But it had.

Sage was clear about what last night had been. Just one night. One extremely sexy and crazy wild night with two incredibly handsome men.

She never dreamed one, let alone two, men would ever look her way. And they’d spent hours pleasuring her and fulfilling one of her greatest fantasies. Fucking two men had been way more intense and orgasmic than she ever dreamed it could be. She was strangely proud of her courage but slightly embarrassed she’d done it.

For a girl looking for a husband, last night was taking a slight detour, yet she couldn’t find a regretful bone in her body, mostly because Ari had turned her completely to jelly.

Sage turned into the pillow and let out a little joyful scream.

God, he was amazing.

Oliver’s sudden departure had been odd. Sage had no experience with these things, so she’d just accepted it, but she had thought he’d stay and, well, do more. She had quickly been distracted when Ari pressed inside her and the rest was one enormous blur of ecstasy.

She knew marriage wouldn’t be filled with that much passion, but Sage hoped her future husband was a little adventurous. That wink Carl had given her might be a sneaky insight into something more.

Perhaps she should ask him out?

Sage had a shower and cleaned up the mess in the kitchen. Even that hadn’t been able to wipe the smile off her face. She felt like she was floating on air.

Because it was Saturday, and she had the house to herself, she poured a bath and filled it with all her favorite girly stuff and soaked until it got cold.

By the time she got out, she had several missed calls on her phone.

Mom.

Piper.

Mom.

Piper.

Piper.

Piper.

Ugh, for God’s sake. Sage phoned her mother first.

“Hi, Sagey,” Maryanne Roberts said, using the pet name Sage hated. “Just checking in to see how you are.”

“Hi Mom. I’m fine. Just enjoying a quiet Saturday at home by myself.”

“That’s not healthy. You should be out with friends,” her mother replied, and Sage rolled her eyes.

“I am going out tonight,” she lied.

“Oh lovely. With Carmen and Matti?” Maryanne asked, referring to her college friends. She had stayed in contact with them frequently, but they all had demanding jobs working in the science and medical fields, so catching up wasn’t always easy. People like her mother, who worked as a receptionist, would never understand life outside the nine to five.

“Yes,” Sage lied again. Having an overbearing mother meant she had learned to lie rather than get into long debates or listen to lectures. “How’s Dad?” she asked, and got the usual sigh.

“You know, he’s good. Spending a lot of time on his golf game when he’s not working.”

“Maybe you should go with him?” Sage said.

“No. Goodness no. You have to let a man have his sport, or man cave, or whatever thing they choose.”

Sage considered this and decided her mother was right. Everyone needed the space to be who they were outside of being a sister, mother, wife, or whatever actual title they were given.

“What about you then, Mom, what are you doing?”

“Oh, darling, I have the church. Now stop distracting me. How is work going?”

“I’m waiting on news about the promotion next week. Stop pretending that’s not what you want to ask about.” Sage rolled her eyes.

“I was trying to be delicate.”

Pfft.

Sage really wasn’t in the mood to have this conversation, so she quickly made an excuse.

“Mom, sorry, Piper is calling. She’s already left me four messages, so I better go before she just turns up here.”

When they hung up, she sat staring at the phone.

It was like this every time she had to speak to or see her sister. Sage had to wind herself up and remind herself she had forgiven her. Because she did love Piper. A sister bond was never broken, but it could be splintered.

And that was where they were at.

Still.

She dialed.

“Hey,” Piper answered.

“Hey.”

“So, you are taking my calls?” Piper asked, annoyance lacing her voice.

Sage sighed. “It may surprise you, but I have a life and am not always on call for Piper Roberts.”

“I haven’t seen you in three weeks, Sage,” Piper said. “Let’s get a drink or I can come over and watch a movie.”

Nooooo.

She’d already lied to her mother and said she was going out, so she had to follow through.

“I’m busy tonight,” she replied. “Next weekend, we can do something.”

“Busy doing what?”

Sage pressed her fingers into her eyes.

“Jesus, Piper, between you and Mom you act like I’m some hermit spinster.” She snapped. “I have friends. I have dates. I have... stuff.”

Like threesomes and two gorgeous men you aren’t getting near . Not that they were hers anymore.

“Do you have a date tonight?” Piper asked, and she could hear the grin in her sister’s voice.

“Goodbye, Piper. See you next weekend.” Sage hung up. She flopped back on the sofa and let out a groan. She loved her family, she really did, but their constant pushing was annoying.

She turned her head and noticed it was getting late. She wondered what Ari was doing. Was he thinking about their night together? Or did he do this kind of thing all the time?

Ari wasn’t the man she was going to marry, so she needed to push thoughts of him and Oliver aside.

No great love story started with a wild threesome.

Yet, her body had been burning all day with the desire for more. To put it bluntly, she was incredibly horny. Not for the rabbit, but for them.

Or rather Ari.

God.

They hadn’t swapped numbers, so it wasn’t going to happen. It had been amazing, and that was that. Maybe it was because Sage had gone so long without sex. Her body had just awoken. There was something incredibly sexy about letting such powerful men take control of her body.

Would she ever find that again?

How could she find the same excitement and passion in a man who wanted to get married? Someone with a great career and financial security. Someone she could take home to her parents, and who would pretend her family wasn’t insane.

Someone who wanted babies and to build them a treehouse and go on a family road trip.

Oh crap.

She hadn’t gone to the drugstore.

For whatever reason, Ari had been confident she couldn’t get pregnant, and she was sure he believed that, but she wasn’t taking a risk. She also wasn’t immune to diseases.

Damn, she’d been irresponsible.

Next week, she would go for a checkup. Tonight she had to stop focusing on a man who was all wrong for her.

One she was never going to see again.
