CHAPTER TWENTY

England, 1891

“NO! TELL THEM WE WANT three! One won’t do. Don’t they realize we are moving everything?” Vincent shouted. “And everyone!”

Regan raised his eyebrows.

Vincent spun around and fisted his hands, slamming them on the window ledge. He stared out at the driveway as if willing Kate’s carriage to return.

“We can’t just magic up three ships overnight, Your Majesty,” Regan said.

If the male hadn’t been his father’s trusted advisor, Vincent would have fired him on the spot. He had little patience for anyone or anything these days. As far as he was concerned, everyone was incompetent and working against him. They were trying to muddy his plans and make life difficult.

As if it wasn’t already...without her.

“So you’re telling me there is only one ship in the entire English harbor? One ship? That’s it?” He growled. “For God’s sakes, man, pay them double. Triple. I don’t care!”

Regan frowned again, turning as the prince walked through the door.

“What’s the damn hurry, Vincent?”

“Three months! They want us to wait three fucking months before we depart!” he yelled, throwing his hands in the air.

Brayden glanced at Regan, and they both shrugged. “I repeat. What is the damn rush?”

He let out a long growl and planted himself in the seat behind his desk. No one would understand. He had to get out of here. Out of England.

Or he would go after her.

“Just get the fucking ships,” he growled in a mutter.
