An excerpt from the Gup Shup Column by Feeba—Wednesday Print Edition
Feeba: Mr. Deepak Datta. Thank you for joining us. You have the entire South Asian community in a dramatic tailspin after your engagement
with Olivia Gupta ended. And now, you're married to your longtime friend Veera Mathur. We'd love to know how this happened.
Deepak Datta: Thank you, Feeba, for your time. We love all the work you do at Indians Abroad News . In regard to my personal situation, I am normally a very private person, but I knew when Olivia and I got engaged that a
part of my personal life was going to become public. I'm here to set the record straight that I'm completely at fault for
what happened between us. I didn't give her the appreciation she deserved. My only excuse was that I put the needs of the
business before our personal needs, and I'm grateful Olivia realized the mistake we were making.
Feeba: Are you saying that you've been in love with Veera Mathur this entire time?
Deepak Datta: I wasn't romantically involved with Veera if that's what you're insinuating. But we've been friends for years, and over the last few months she has been working on a global initiative for my division at Illyria Media. After Olivia broke our engagement, the one person I wanted to speak to was my friend, and that was it. That was the moment I realized that I'd been in love with Veera.
Feeba: How romantic. How Bollywood! Veera, did you feel the same?
Veera: Yes.
