Epilogue
A Few Weeks Later
Kezan
“Why are we here, Kezan?” Ezra asked as I opened the door to Wish For It and waved him inside. The shop wouldn’t open for another two hours, but it seemed like the perfect place to do what I had in mind for today.
“Oh, good. You’re here,” I said as I spotted Micah and Cam leaning against the counter. Ezra followed my gaze, and his brows shot up in surprise.
“Hey, boys. What are you doing here?” Ezra asked. He’d gotten to know the teens better over the past few weeks, and now he almost treated them like they were his nephews. The boys soaked it right up.
“We’re here to be witnesses!” Micah declared with a grin, and Ezra glanced at me, confused.
“Witnesses? To what?”
I swallowed as I turned to him and gave him a smile. I leaned closer and pressed a quick kiss to his lips before pulling away. “Give me a moment.”
I hurried off to the back room and opened the locker where I’d stored my bottle the night before. Pulling it out, I hurried back to the front room. Ezra’s eyes fell to my bottle the moment I stepped into the main area, and he looked up at me, his gaze questioning.
“I wanted to give you my bottle for safekeeping,” I explained, and his eyes widened. We’d talked about this before. I’d told him how a djinn’s bottle gets passed from master to master until the djinn finds their mate. A djinn’s mate is their final master. The last time we’d talked about it, it had been an abstract conversation because Ezra hadn’t been ready to accept me as his mate. Then he’d claimed me, and we’d spent the next few weeks fucking like bunnies every chance we could. We’d spent hours in my bottle every day, but somehow I’d kept forgetting to give it to him. Until now.
A smile spread across Ezra’s lips as he walked closer to me. His chestnut brown eyes were warm and bright with joy, and I smiled as he wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him.
“Tell me what I need to do,” he said. No hesitation, no second thoughts.
I smiled widely at him as my chest went all warm and fuzzy. “I need you to promise to always keep my bottle safe and to never misuse it. That’s all. I know you’ll do it anyway, but you need to say the words for the magic to bind you to the bottle.”
Ezra nodded, but instead of speaking, he pulled me closer and pressed his lips to mine. The “Aww” from our audience kept the kiss chaste, but when Ezra pulled back, I had a wide grin on my face that I couldn’t seem to wipe away.
Ezra looked into my eyes, his shining and full of love and care. My grin softened as he took my hands into his, the bottle cradled between our palms. “I love you, Kezan. I promise to always keep you and your bottle safe. I promise I will never use your bottle for anything you don’t want me to use it for.”
I smiled at his words, at the sincerity in his eyes, and swallowed hard. “I love you too, Ezra. You’re the keeper of my bottle, but before that, you’re my mate. I promise to always cherish this bond between us and do all I can to make sure you’re always happy.”
We shared smiles as the bottle’s magic swirled around us. I’d chosen to do this at the shop because it was already imbued with my magic, which quickened the process as the magic tied me and my bottle to Ezra.
When the blue mist disappeared, Cam called from the side. “Kiss!”
Ezra laughed as he pulled me closer, one hand still resting on my bottle as he pressed his lips to mine. This kiss was deeper, warmer, and even sweeter than the last one. I melted into him as he held me close, and I hoped the magic of us would never disappear.
When Ezra pulled back, his eyes were dark. He squeezed my hand before looking around the shop.
“You know, when I stepped into this shop, all I’d wished for was a suitable outfit, but I think someone, somewhere, heard what I was truly wishing for. Someone heard that what I was actually looking for was someone to love, someone who would love me. And I found you.” Ezra’s voice was soft as he spoke, and the love I heard in every word brought tears to my eyes.
Maybe my magic wasn’t as weak as I’d thought it was. Or maybe it was Fate who’d heard his wish and brought him to me.
Either way, our wishes had been fulfilled, and the future looked brighter than it ever had.
This time, I was the one who pulled him into a kiss. Distantly, I heard Cam and Micah leave, Micah promising to be back in time for his shift. All my attention was on my mate, though. On the man Fate had brought to me as the best kind of present.
