W hen Vanra answered "Yes," it took an effort for Kitaro to ignore his dragon's loud demands to fully take control. But it was Kitaro's first time being intimate with a partner, and he didn't want a passive role in being with Vanra.

"Your companion did not deserve you." Kitaro nuzzled against Vanra's shoulder. "I will never make the same mistakes he did."

Vanra embraced Kitaro. "I know. You're a better everything than him. But I don't want to ruin my euphoria with thoughts of him."

"Good idea. Stay here with me." Kitaro meant staying with him in the moment, but his heart secretly wanted Vanra to remain in the past.
