15. Lissy
Chapter 15
Lissy
W e pack our things, preparing to face the world outside our secluded haven.
“I’m scared,” I admit, folding my clothes. “Scared of what happens next.”
He takes my hand, his grip firm and reassuring. “We’ll figure it out together,” he says, his smile warm and comforting.
We stand at the door, the cabin behind us, the snowy path ahead. He reaches out, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “This isn’t the end, Lissy,” he says confidently.
I nod, feeling a surge of hope.
As we move about the cabin, tidying up the remnants of our unexpected stay, there's a sense of camaraderie that wasn't there before. Every so often, Erik and I share a look, a smile, an unspoken word that reinforces the connection we've discovered.
I find myself savoring these small moments, the way he hums a tune while sweeping, the lingering touch as he kisses my cheek when he passes. The cabin, once a place of confinement, now holds memories of laughter, of shared secrets, of a bond forged in the heart of a storm .
While packing the last of our belongings into the truck, a sense of melancholy washes over me.
"I can't believe we're leaving," I say, looking around the cabin that's been our world for these past days. Erik comes over, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. "We're taking something special with us," he assures me, his voice steady and sure.
We've packed more than just our bags; we're carrying a piece of this experience, this unexpected romance, with us.
Standing at the threshold of the cabin, the reality of our situation settles in. The world outside is vast and uncertain, but the certainty in Erik's eyes gives me strength. "Ready?" he asks, his hand intertwined with mine. I look up at him, feeling a newfound courage. "Ready," I reply.
