Chapter Four

Jade

I ’m kissing my brother, and I like it.

WHAT THE FUCK?

No, no, no. This is wrong. I grab his shirt, intent to push him away but find myself pulling him closer until I feel the imprint of his straining cock on my thigh, and reality comes back like a bucket of cold water.

“Stop, this can not happen,” I pull my face away, but he doesn’t let me get far.

“Bloody hell, Jade, it’s already begun, and I aim to finish it.” He lifts me into his arms and is halfway down the hall before my foggy brain computes what he just said.

“Put me down,” I hiss, looking around for our parents.

“AS soon as we get into my room.” What?

“Ciarán! No, I am not sleeping with you.” His chuckle is dark and without humor.

“Of course not,” He bumps the door to his room open with his hip and places me down on my feet.

I sigh as sanity slowly returns. I pat his chest and nod. It was just a moment of temporary insanity. We can forget all about it. I smile up at him, happy we’re on the same page, but the look in his eyes hasn’t changed one bit.

“We aren’t sleeping at all. You’ll be too busy groaning my name for sleep.” If I were wearing any knickers, they’d be ruined.

Christ on a cracker.

He closes the door and locks it making me take a step back. I shake my head at him in disbelief. How am I supposed to talk sense into him when he’s tracking me like prey? My body wants what he’s offering me, but my conscious is screaming at me that he’s too drunk to see reason.

“I’m leaving for both our sakes. You won’t even remember this in the morning. Please let me by.” I point at the locked door as my thighs tremble.

His eyes dart down, and the slow, gorgeous grin that spreads across his face is enough to have me dripping, reminding me yet again that I am currently standing in my stepbrother’s room with no knickers on and a dress that barely covers my ass.

Confession this Sunday is going to be hell.

“Why?” His voice is hard, but I can see he’s being serious.

“Bloody hell. Pick one! Our age difference, our family ties, you’re drunk, I’m a virgin,” I cover my mouth, not meaning to let that slip.

He stumbles back as if I hit him, and I take the opportunity to dart past him and out the door. I don’t stop running until I’m safely behind my own locked door and heave to catch my breath.

Mortification surrounds me like a warm blanket as I run the last few minutes of my life back in my mind.

My phone buzzes on the nightstand where I left it charging, and I lunge for the lifeline. That familiar ringtone is my salvation tonight. I accept the call and put it on speakerphone.

“You are not going to believe my day.” I toss myself backward onto my bed and cover my face.

“Babes, I have Twitter. Now, explain!” I can’t help but laugh at Anton’s excited voice.

“It just happened,” I shrug, although he can’t see it .

“No, ma’am, you have to do better than that.” I sigh, feeling the last of my adrenaline flee and the jet lag set in.

“Please tell me you’re here ‘cause I’m about to fall asleep and would much rather tell you in person.” He clicks his tongue at me.

“Fine, I’ll pick you up for brunch. I have a feeling this story needs mimosas.” I nod as I yawn.

“You are the best. Love ya,” he laughs at me, but I don’t even care.

My eyes are closed, and I can feel sleep pulling me under.

“That’s it, fuck my fingers.” Ciarán’s voice is husky as he whispers into my ear.

My hips circle faster as he rubs my clit in small tight circles.

“Almost ready for my cock. I’m going to stretch this tiny virgin hole so wide you’ll never want another man. Your body will only ever crave mine.” Oh God.

Buzz.

My eyes flutter open while my body feels the disappointment of losing the orgasm I was so close to achieving.

Buzz.

I slowly sit up, searching for my phone, and find it under my thigh. Shit, I’m still in my clothes. When I bring the phone up and see Anton’s face and the time, I gasp.

“I know! I’m sorry. I need fifteen minutes to shower.” I answer as I leap off the bed and start grabbing my stuff out of the open suitcase on the floor.

“Bitch, I knew you’d still be sleeping. Relax and breathe. I’ll just wait in the car.” I roll my eyes at the all to familiar situation.

“I swear I will be on time at least once in my life. Just come in and wait in the house. I’m sure everyone else is awake.” I managed to get all my toiletries and clothes into a pile that I balanced clearly while I walked into the bathroom.

“Fine, I could use another coffee.” I laugh.

“Tell Beatrice, and I’ll be down in ten,” I promise, knowing it’ll be thirty, but as my best friend, he already knows how time works in Jade’s world.

“Mmhmm, right. I’ll have a biscuit too.” He hangs up as I hear the doorbell ring.

I start the water and rush through my shower.

I manage to get dressed and do my makeup and hair in under twenty minutes. I skip down the stairs and find Anton with my mother, looking at my baby album.

“Seriously, Ma?” She smiles as she closes it.

“It’s not often you bring a man home.” Oh god, here we go.

“Anton is not my boyfriend. He’s my gay best friend.” Her face goes red, and Anton laughs.

“She should be so lucky. I love your daughter to death.” He throws his arm around my shoulder and kisses my cheek.

A throat clearing behind us makes me turn slightly, and I meet a pair of very angry steel-gray eyes.

“Jade, a word.” Ciarán’s clipped voice leaves no room to argue as I watch him leave the room as if he expects me to follow.

“My word. He’s in a mood.” Ma says as she pats my arm.

“Um, excuse me. I’ll just be a moment.” Anton smiles.

“No rush. Our reservations aren’t for another hour. I know my girl.” I roll my eyes as he and Ma carry on about how I’ll be late for my own funeral.

I step into the hall and run into a muscled chest.

“What the hell,” I look up at Ciarán, who’s blocking the way.

He grabs my arm and drags me down the hall and into his office.

“Who the fuck is that?” He points the way we came before shutting the door aggressively.

“Anton?” I’m confused by his crazy behavior.

“Are you asking me or telling me?” Oh, that’s it.

“I wonder if you’ve lost your mind! You don’t have a right to question me like this. I’m an adult and can do what I please.” I cross my arms over my chest defensively .

“Not in my house.” My eyes widen.

“Are ya saying I’m no longer welcome in my own home?” He flinches.

“No, that wasn’t,” I raise my hand.

“I don’t know what the fuck has gotten into you, but I’m late for a brunch date. Maybe you’ll be back in your right mind when I return.” I push past him and open the door.

“When will that be?” I stop at his tone.

“I will remind you, dear brother, that I have no curfew. As I previously said, I am an adult. Secondly, you are not my father. I’ll return when I damn well please.” I slam the door closed between us and take several deep breaths before turning to go get Anton.

Before I can take a step, the door flies open, and Cairán pins me to the wall in the hallway. His lips are on mine a moment later, and he kisses me with a desperation that I could very easily get addicted to.

“Go on, but you’re going on your little date with my taste in your mouth.” He drops me back to my feet after hissing the words on my face.

He stomps away in the opposite direction, leaving watching him.

I’m not sure since he kissed the common sense out of me but I do believe he’s jealous of Anton. I shake it off and go grab my best friend.

We have a ton to talk about.
