Breaker

“You’re quiet tonight,” I whisper.

“It has been a busy day,” Indy responds quietly, her fingers sifting through the scattering hair on my chest.

“It has. I’m glad it happened, though. If it hadn’t, who knows when you would have admitted that you love me.”

“Look who’s talking. I have a feeling that you and Tinny had an agreement that you were going to be in our lives before you bothered to let me in on the deal,” she grumbles.

I laugh before pressing a kiss against her temple. “Guilty as charged. Hell, Doc. I couldn’t even open my damn eyes and fell in love with your voice and personality. I’ve been a goner since day one.”

“I can’t wait to start our lives together. You know that, right?”

“I do. Why does it feel like you’re building up to something here, honey?”

“Because you’re smart,” she laughs.

“Let me have it, but take it easy on me. I’m an old man and it has been a rough day.”

“How old are you?” she asks suddenly, as if it just now occurred to her that she didn’t know.

“I guess I’m not sure. We’ll ask Skylar if she stops growling at me long enough. Don’t worry, though. I’m more than young enough to keep you satisfied.”

Indy blushes a deep pink and squeezes her body tighter into mine. “That’s one worry I’ve never had where you’re concerned,” she giggles.

“Good, now stop stalling. What’s on your mind?”

“Don’t get mad, but I’ve been going over everything in my head and I think we need to go back to Kentucky with Skylar and Joker to meet your family.”

“Doc—”

“Just hear me out, Breaker. We were planning on doing this anyway. If we go a day or so early, it might jar your memory. At the very least, it will be attacking the issue head on so we can start living our lives together without feeling like there’s something hanging over our heads waiting to fall and implode our world.”

“Is that how you’ve been feeling?” I ask, genuinely worried.

“Kind of. Good things—well, other than Tinny—don’t happen to me. I’ve been terrified something would take you away from me.”

“Does this mean that you finally believe me when I tell you I’m not letting you go?”

“Yeah, but I also know that I’m not letting go of you either—no matter what.”

“If you’re sure, I can call Skylar in the morning.”

“I’ll deal with my schedule and make sure I have a few days off. I’ll direct patients to another office. Sadly, although business is picking up, I don’t have a lot on my calendar.”

“Doc, maybe we should talk about that.”

“Let’s tackle one problem at a time. For now, let’s concentrate on going to Kentucky and meeting your family. I’d clear my schedule for that regardless of how busy I am because I’m not letting you face all of this on your own.”

I cup the side of her neck and pull her lips to mine, kissing her long and hard. I try to put all my love for her in our kiss. I want her to know that I understand the sacrifices she’s making for me. I rest my forehead against hers. “I love you, Doc, so fucking much that sometimes it feels like I can’t breathe.”

“I love you, too, Breaker.”

“Maybe you’d like to prove it to me,” I dare.

“And how would you suggest I do that?”

I sit up on the bed. I’m not graceful. I quickly yank off the gym shorts I started wearing in case Tinny shows up unannounced, tossing them to the floor. Then, I pat my thigh. “I think it’s time you climb aboard and take a ride on the Breaker Express.”

“Breaker Express?” she laughs.

“Yep, where every ride is long, hard and very, very deep.”

“God, you better be glad I love you, because you can be really corny sometimes, Breaker.”

I’d argue with her, but she climbs onto my lap and I help her lift my T-shirt off her. As she drops her body down, taking my entire cock deep inside her hot depths, all words leave me. I just get lost in loving my woman.
