CHAPTER SEVEN

LIAM

“I’m surprised that you made it back!” I lit up when I saw her park her car in front of the cabin.

“It was a close call, but I did make it here. I also grabbed your lunch. It might be cold, though.” She said, smiling. “This is to say thank you, and I appreciate you.”

“You shouldn’t have. Can I at least get a hug?” I opened my arms, and she walked into me, wrapping her arms around me. I felt elephants stampeding within my stomach. I wrapped my arms around her.

“I thought I’d never see you again, Mia.” I looked down and into her eyes. “Thank you for coming back. Can I take you on a real date tomorrow night?”

“I thought I wasn’t going to make it back. I had a panic attack on the side of the road. Then I remembered I googled your phone number and address. Luckily, you were still within thirty minutes of where I was.” She smiled.

“Of course, I’ll go on a date with you. I bought a new outfit, boots and jacket just to go out somewhere.” She laughed.

“Let’s eat lunch, then you and I can discuss what you want to do. Do you like dancing?” I asked, still holding onto her. I slipped the extra $200 into her back pocket without her noticing. She might think she was slick, but nobody gets past me.

“Like dancing? I love dancing! I’m not that good at it, though.” She laughed.

“Let’s go bowling, skating, see a movie, and then hit up one of the bars with a band and dance!” I suggested. I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible.

“That sounds incredibly busy. And we’re doing this in one night?” She smiled. “I might have to bring extra shoes for some of these adventures.”

“No, let’s do one date a night, and then after your week is up, if you’ve still decided to go back to Georgia, I’ll make sure there aren’t any further issues with your Little Bertha, and you both are good to go.” I smiled. I didn’t want to let her go.

“Sounds great. One more thing, Liam.” She looked up at me.

“What’s that?" I whispered back to her.

“I need you to come down to my level, you handsome blue-eyed giant.” She laughed, blushing.

“Yes, ma’am,” I said, kneeling to her level.

“Thank you for the amazing hospitality and service you have provided. I don’t know how to repay you for your kindness, but I want to give you this.” She smiled, leaned in on her tippy toes, and kissed me without hesitation.

These seven days of dates couldn’t come soon enough.

I don’t know who she was, where she came from, or who sent her, nor did I know what I would do with her—but I knew one thing: I wasn’t letting her go.

To be continued.
