CHAPTER SIX

CALLIE

I’ve never been this forward in my life. No man has ever been worth a toss of my moral compass or a romp in the hay without even a date. But I already know he’s not like anyone I’ve ever met. Behind that southern boy charm, there’s something dark and dangerous that lurks just beneath the surface, and lord help me, I want to play dirty with that man.

He tilts my face with a finger under my chin, those smoldering eyes looking through the window of my soul like a magnet that won’t let go. When he captures my lips, my mind may have been ready, prepared for the beginning of that kiss, but my body reacts as though I’ve never been with a man before. Because this hunger, this ache, it’s never been like this.

I stand on tiptoes, threading my hands behind his neck, running my fingers through his hair, as his arms wrap around my waist, drawing me closer to him and that hardness and heat at the center of his core.

When he leans down and lifts me, carrying me in his arms back into the bar, I don’t even pretend to resist. No, I want this as much as he does. So much that I help him with the door as he carries me through. From the moment I laid eyes on that handsome devil, it was always going to end this way. It was meant to be the moment he walked through the Doon’s Bar doors and right into my life. Because my heart wouldn’t be beating so fast if that weren’t the case.

He is not an indecisive man, no, Gabe knows exactly what he wants and does not waste precious time getting me to the bar. He sets me atop the long length of marble slab, walks over to the blinds, pulls them all the way down and locks the door before returning to the space between my legs with that smoldering look that makes me quake with the anticipation of what he plans for me.

Gabe cradles my face between his hands, tracing my lips with a wandering finger before snaking his hand beneath my nape to draw me in for another long lingering kiss that takes my breath right away. His finger traces the beating of my pulse at the base of my neck, trailing a path of heat as he cups my breasts in his hands, sending heat to my very core before lifting my clothes over my head.

His lips wrap around the tips of my breasts and everything else just melts away. Everything but him, that feel and the desire of more as his fingers unbutton my jeans, and I wriggle from side to side as he divests me of my jeans and little white panties.

He sends a wave of heat shooting down my spine as his tongue scorches a path below, right to the very center of me, caressing and stoking the fires, before freeing himself from his jeans and settling onto the bar stool with me in his arms. His hands tangle in my hair, caress my breasts, slide over my waist and then hips, guiding me up and then down, and then faster than before. Desire hits me like a wave of heat, scorching and hot, and he is relentless in his determination to make me scream his name, until I am doing it over and over again, while he guides me atop his lap.

I sink into his chest, my ear to the beating of his heart, steady and protective as he cradles me through the storm, and it subsides. And then embarrassment, hot and searing takes over as I climb down from the stool.

He ties off the wrap I don’t even recall him putting on and discards it before zipping up.

Those watchful eyes don’t miss a thing. “Let me.” He takes a handful of napkins and wipes between my legs before drawing my panties and jeans back to their rightful place.

My blood still races after our tryst, and I find it difficult to look him in the eye. “It’s not usually like this with me. I mean, I don’t just get these feelings and go banging guys in the bar.”

Gabe tilts my chin, and his eyes connect with mine. “I know, baby.” He glances at the large round-faced clock on the wall. “Come with me. It’s late, and we should sleep before the truck gets here.” I follow him through the back kitchen and past the storage area where he unhooks a padlock that’s just hanging there. I follow him in, and my mouth opens in surprise. “I never even knew this was back here. I thought it was Glenn’s private space.”

He laughs. “Actually, it might be now, but it used to be my hideout. My family still owns Doon’s Bar, but Glenn takes care of everything day to day. He’s worked for us for years.” He looks around at the small space with only a bed, box television and desk and chair in the corner. “I used to hang out here and play video games when my dad and the others were at work.”

I narrow my eyes. “And you decided that banging me in the bar would be better than this perfectly good little bed here.”

He smirks. “Absolutely. A dream come true if you will.”

“Oh yeah, well, I’m glad I could make your dreams come true.”

He takes my hand and tugs me onto the single bed with him, tucks me into his shoulder and pulls the covers over his. “Rest, baby, the truck will be here in less than four hours.”

So many pieces of the puzzle lock into place as the handsome devil’s heart beats against my cheek. The family still rumored to own half of this town, the dark and dangerous men they’ve become, and the closeness of him with Blake, Grady and Dawson rumored to be best friends with a guy who left town years ago, one of the younger cousins of the most notorious men alive.

His smoldering eyes open, connecting with mine as I realize just how dark and dangerous this man really is. I swallow past the initial fear because that’s all it is. That lurky darkness is what drew me to him, something I crave. “Being dirty with you is like a dream come true.”
