CHAPTER FIVE

TYLER

I couldn’t believe what Beau was offering us. A sponsorship? Help for new equipment for the team and help with transportation. He called it supporting the future of hockey. I called it a major lift to the program.

The second we stepped into the house and Evan ran to his room; I kissed Daria. I’d been holding in the excitement and adrenaline of the day in for so long. The rush slammed through me and before I said a word, my lips crushed hers. Her soft gasp of surprise allowed me to deepen the kiss.

She felt perfect in my arms.

There was a sensualness twining with the exhilaration from the game and the afterparty. It’d been so long since the last time we’d been together. I wanted this to be perfect. Special for us. She was my world. Probably always had been. I was just too stupid and too blinded by my parents' short-sightedness to see that. Maybe if I had, we’d be married by now.

When I pulled back, a coy smile tugged at her mouth while her eyes fluttered open. “What was that for?”

I took her hands in mine, guiding her deeper into the living room. “I should have told you this the day I saw you at the center... You’re my everything, Daria. I can’t see my life without you and Evan in it. The best day of my life was finding you again.”

“Are you proposing to me?” She tilted her head narrowing her eyes. “Because if you are, I don’t see a ring.”

The teasing quality of her tone kicked me right in the gut. I laughed, shaking my head. “Do you want to get married, babe?”

“Again,” she said, “not seeing a ring.”

I snickered, tossing her over my shoulder and smacked her ass. It was already after eight. Evan would be grabbing a shower then going to bed, which meant we had the whole night for ourselves. “If I told you I’d get you one, would you believe me?”

“You did give me Evan,” she said.

“Is that a, yes?” I pried.

“Evan,” Daria said, “I’ll be back to tuck you in shortly.”

“Okay mom,” he called out.

“You’ve got fifteen minutes. Prove it.”

Determination lit a fire in my belly. The second we stepped into our room, I closed the door and locked it, just in case, then started tugging off my clothes. Daria did the same, leaving a trail behind her on the way to her bed. When she climbed up, she wiggled that fine ass of hers at me, tempting me beyond reason.

I pounced, coming up behind her, palming her breasts while grinding my hips against her ass. She let out a soft groan, pushing back against me, driving me crazy. I couldn’t wait any longer. Seemed like it’d been a lifetime, since we last had sex. Only this time, I made love to the woman I’d be spending the rest of my life with.

There was no more hesitating. I embraced the new direction my life had taken. When I filled her with one long, slow thrust, the connection between us snapped together. Her and Evan were my world.

I pressed my chest to her back, gritting my teeth as the best feeling pussy in the world gripped me. She was perfect. “I love you, Daria.” I’d worked myself up too much. My gut already burned with need and pleasure. My spine tingled with my impending release.

“Don’t hold back, Tyler,” she said, “Show me how much you love me, and I’ll give you all of my love as well.”

“Corny,” I said, setting a quick pace, chasing my release.

“Yeah, well,” she groaned. “Blame The Cure .”

I chuckled, placing a kiss to her neck. We were reckless. Heedless about life and damn it, I craved every second of it. Her soft sighs turned to whimpers and when she climaxed in my arms with my name on her lips, I lost it. I climaxed in a gut-twisting, pleasure-filled painful way. I was sure I blacked out. My breath came in heaving pants. My heart thundered in my chest. Every inch of me buzzed to life.

This was where I wanted to be.

Forever.

That night after we put Evan to bed, I made love to Daria again. Coming home for me, at the time had been the worst idea ever. I thought I’d lost everything. If I wasn’t Tyler Grant Thrasher forward, who was I? Now, curled up against the woman who’d become my wife—as soon as I bought the ring—I’d definitely say, this... This is who I was all along.

A great friend.

Devoted husband and father.

Coach of the Road Dogs .

Hockey might’ve been my life for years, but now, I was ready to start my new adventure as a coach for a local youth team. Who knows, maybe in a few years, I might branch out. But until then, I was happy to be home.

Happy to have found my place in this crazy twisted adventure we called life.

The End
