February 14

I never noticed how cold it is in the Northeast on Valentine’s Day, probably because I’ve always been inside. You don’t notice the snowstorm while you’re bumping uglies, right? But I noticed today. I noticed the freezing ice when my car spurted to a stop as it ran out of gas 200 yards from the station. Did you know no one will stop to help you when it’s snowing, even if you’re a woman on the side of the relatively busy road at rush hour? Where’s the chivalry? I’m an independent woman, doing it for herself (kind of), but would’ve gladly accepted some 1947 housewife standards for help today.

Related, the Shell gas station on Clinton Ave doesn’t sell gallon containers for gas. They make you walk to the E-Z Mart across the street to buy one, so you have to go back to Shell to fill it up. I can’t wait until cars are no longer a thing, and we can all travel in flying buses that run on soybeans and peanut oil.

Come thru, Greta!

I hope everyone’s staying cozy today, preferably with a warm body next to them. For me, I’ll be spending my Valentine’s Day working to get sensation back in my toes and trying to figure out my brother’s Netflix password since he changed it again. Tip: buy leftover Halloween candy in November and store it for February when you want to drown your sorrows on the 14th. You’re welcome.
