Epilogue
On the following morning, Christmas Day, Kitty and Henry walked hand in hand across the Crescent Lawn, stopping at the ha-ha to look out over the Crescent Fields and the valley beyond, right up to Beechen Cliff. They were now truly man and wife.
As soft snowflakes began to fall, Kitty pulled her red cloak more closely around her. She felt happy, she felt warm– and full of love for her wonderful husband.
"Our music last night was indeed sweet," she said.
"The most beautiful melody I have ever heard," Henry replied, "and I think it is time, Mrs. Templeton, for an encore."
