Epilogue
As Logan stood at the window in the back room of the church, he smiled as he thought about Dixie calling him about their wedding cake...
He sat at his desk working on a report when his cellphone buzzed. He picked it up to see Dixie's number. He grinned as he put it to his ear.
"Hey, baby. What's going on?"
"Do you like buttercream icing?"
"I'm sorry?"
"For the wedding cake."
"What kind?"
"Oh, my God! Buttercream."
"Damn, woman, keep that temper under control. I don't know. Pick what you want."
"No. You're involved in this, Townson. It's going to be a vanilla cake, but I don't know what kind of icing you'd like."
"Do you like buttercream icing?"
"Yes."
"That settles it, get that."
"What if you don't like it?"
"I'm not worried about liking it, I'm only going to smash it in your face, so you have to like it." Silence met him and he tried not to laugh. "Dixie?"
"You're not as funny as you think you are."
"Sure I am."
"You are a pain in my ass." He laughed when she hung up on him. Life would never be dull with her.
He looked back out the window. It was a beautiful summer day. He wished his dad could have been here for this, but he knew his dad was looking down and smiling. Clint had loved Dixie almost as much as Logan did. The door opened and Nevada entered the room.
"Hey, how's your nerves?" he asked Logan.
"I'm not nervous at all… yet. I'm sure the closer it gets to walking out there, they'll kick in. Were you nervous on your wedding day?"
"I was at first, but when I saw Courtney walking down the aisle toward me, I couldn't wait to marry her."
"Dixie and I have been through so much." Logan shook his head.
"But you're together now and that's all that matters."
"True. Hey, Nevada, thanks for being my best man."
"Of course. I'm honored you asked." Nevada grinned. "Did you see the crowd outside?"
"No, but I heard them. I'm surprised it still goes on."
"Well, you know Clifton, anytime to get together and celebrate something, they're going to be there."
"True. I'm sure the town hall will be packed."
"Like a sardine can," Nevada said.
The door opened and the priest stuck his head in. "Logan? It's time."
"Yes, sir." Logan took a deep breath, then walked out the door with Nevada following him.
As they entered through a door to the altar, Logan looked over the guests. He smiled at them as he took his place. The nerves were kicking in now. What if she decided not to show? What if her doubts kicked in about his love for her? What if—
"You're going to drive yourself insane."
"How did you know?"
"I've been there. I had all kinds of thoughts that Courtney wouldn't show. I was afraid she would change her mind." Nevada shrugged. "It's the way my love life was going."
"But she did and you're happy now."
"And you will be too. Dixie will be here. She loves you, Logan."
Logan nodded. "Yeah, she does."

Dixie sighed and stared into the mirror, as Scarlett placed the ring of white flowers on top of her head.
"I should have bought a veil."
"A little late now," Scarlett teased.
Dixie met her eyes in the mirror. "Do the flowers look alright?"
"Dixie, those flowers are you. You are not a long flowing fancy wedding dress woman. This gown is perfect for you. It's beautiful but simple. The lace is so pretty."
"And you look so pretty in your green gown."
Dixie looked at her own gown and smiled. It was beautiful and simple. The dress had a halter top, open back, and no sleeves. It flowed straight down to her feet, hugging her body, with a small train behind her. The small round wreath of white flowers adorned her head. She blinked back tears.
"Hey, none of that," Scarlett said as she wiped her own tears away.
Dixie looked at her. "I love him so much. I never thought we'd be here."
"True love will always win, Dixie. You and Logan are meant to be together."
"I wish Clint could be here."
"He is. You know he's watching you and Logan. You know he's happy."
The door opened, and Sam entered the room.
"Time to go," he said with a grin.
"Sam, thank you so much for giving me away."
"I'm honored. Gives me practice for when my daughter gets married, though not for a very long time."
Dixie grinned. "I'm ready. He is here, right?"
Sam chuckled. "Shit, Dixie, he'd be too afraid not to show up."
"Sam Garrett," the priest chastised him as he walked past the open door.
"Why is it always me you catch?"
"Maybe you're the only one who swears in my church. Come on, let's get this wedding under way."
Sam shook his head, making Scarlett and Dixie laugh, then he put his arm out for Dixie. Taking a deep breath, she picked up her bouquet of white lilacs, looped her arm through his and they walked to the vestibule.
When the music started, the guests rose to their feet, and she couldn't see Logan at the altar. She knew he would be here. Logan loved her and she'd never doubt it again. As Sam led her down the aisle, she smiled when she saw Logan grinning at her.
Sam delivered her to Logan, nodded at them, then sat in the pew next to his wife, Tessa.
Logan took Dixie's hand in his, and they faced the priest. Dixie felt Logan squeeze her hand as she stared into his eyes. A tear rolled down her cheek and he wiped it away, but she saw tears in his eyes too.
After reciting their vows, they faced the guests, and the priest introduced them.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. and Mrs. Logan Clinton Townson."
When the guests applauded, the crowd outside cheered. Dixie and Logan laughed as they walked down the aisle toward the doors, and the guests inside laughed when Dixie put her hand on Logan's ass and squeezed it. He stopped, pulled her to him, and kissed her deeply, making them all laugh.
Logan opened the doors leading outside and the crowd roared. Dixie wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned against him.
"I'm happy," she said.
"Me too. We have our whole lives ahead of us." Logan looked up at the blue clear sky. "I know he's watching."
"Of course, he is, and I can guarantee that he's happy too."
Dixie had no doubt that Clint was watching over them. She looked at the sky too, then at Logan.
They smiled at each other as they waited for the guests to congratulate them, then they'd celebrate at the town hall, and after their honeymoon in Hawaii, go home to begin their lives together. She couldn't wait.
