Epilogue
Five Years Later
Ruby was sitting on the beach alongside Tasha as they watched their mates play with their children. Rilyn, Ruby and Ryker’s five year old daughter, was chasing after Ryker through the sand as her little sister, Rayne, struggled to keep up. Rayne was three and a determined little girl who had to keep up with her older sister. Ruby loved seeing that both of her daughters had her attitude and seemed to already be little She-Alphas in the making. Both of them had Ruby’s silver hair but had Ryker’s navy-blue eyes. Ryker faked tripping over himself and fell into the sand. His daughters jumped on top of him and then squealed when he began to tickle them. They called out to Ruby for help, but Ruby could only laugh. She thought about joining in on the fun, but decided to remain on the beach and watch her mate play with his children.
It made her heart full to see Ryker so in love with the fact that he had two daughters. Not once did he ever hope for a boy, which Ruby thought was slightly weird. During both pregnancies, Ryker repeated “I just want to have a healthy, happy baby.” And that is exactly what he got. Two happy and healthy little girls. And he could not love them more.
Deacon was in the water with his son, Dash, who was the spitting image of him. Deacon was trying to teach Dash to swim, but he was more focused on watching what was going on between Ryker and the girls. Tasha was feeding their newborn next to Ruby, but as Ruby looked at the baby, she had no idea who she looked like, but hoped that she would end up looking like her mother. Ruby’s attention shifted to Tasha as she called out to Deacon to pay attention to Dash so he didn’t drown. To say that she tended to fuss over her kids was an understatement.
Though I was never surprised since she fussed over anyone she loves.
It was a surreal feeling to Ruby that this was her life. After everything she had been through in her life since she transferred packs, this was not the future she expected to have. If anything, she thought she would have raised her family in Wolf’s Den, not on the West Coast beach. She found herself looking up to the sky often when it was painted black with millions of twinkling stars, thanking the Goddess for giving her a second chance.
The Western Sanction had thrived under Ryker and Ruby’s rule. Wolf’s Den was not the only rogue area that Ryker had become a benefactor to, and it kind of became his thing. Across the sanction, Ryker had opened ten other sanctuaries for rogues to move into and call home. Not all of them turned into packs and became a part of the sanction. They still wanted to remain rogue, and that was completely fine with Ryker and Ruby. It was their choice. They just wanted them to have somewhere safe to call their own.
Jeremy hated it, but he had lost the bet of becoming an Alpha before Ruby. Davis did not step down from being Alpha until about a year ago. Jeremy did take some advice and traveled through the sanction, though. After a few months, he reached out to Ryker and asked to be a part of building sanctuaries. It turned out, his mate had been a rogue. He met her while building a town. They had been together now for two years and were expecting their first child. It was after he was mated that Davis thought Jeremy would be a better fit to be the Alpha and crowned him. Jeremy and Jade visited often, and Ruby would travel to see her family from time to time.
Ruby never thought that, when she ran off to find sanctuary in the forest, she would end up finding the sanctuary she needed with the Big Bad Wolf of the Western Sanction. Now looking at her life in front of her, she couldn’t imagine it happening any other way.
