Epilogue

“Who’s that girl?” I ask Kathryn while nodding at the blonde currently walking in next to Luke Jameson, Travis’s teammate and new friend. I swear Luke, Gray, and Liam are at our house more often than not these days.

“That’s Montana. She’s the little sister of Luke’s childhood best friend,” Aliyah chimes in. “She just got into town and is staying at his place.”

I turn to Aliyah and laugh. “How is it that you always seem to know everything about everyone?”

I’ve known the girl my whole life, but over the past three months, I’ve gotten to know her a lot better and she’s become one of my best friends.

“It helps to be the owner’s daughter.” She shrugs. “Also, Liam is the biggest gossip around. That man cannot keep a secret if his life depends on it.” She laughs.

“Good to know. Remind me not to divulge anything to him then.” I bump shoulders with Kathryn.

Kathryn and Gray’s six-year-old daughter is bouncing up and down. Her eyes fixated on the ice and her little hands sprawled out on the glass in front of us. “It’s going to start soon,” Graycee says.

The game is set to begin in ten minutes, which is why Luke walking into the suite with this woman right now has us all so curious.

“Aliyah, this is Montana. Montana, Aliyah.” Luke waves a hand between the pair. “And this is Kathryn and Liliana,” he adds, gesturing to Kathryn and then me. “Montana’s going to watch the game up here with you all.”

“Great, come on. Let me get you a drink.” Aliyah hooks her arm around Montana’s and leads her away from Luke. I notice how he watches her for a bit before landing his glare on us again. It looks like he wants to say something but then he just turns and walks out of the room.

“You felt that weird vibe too, right?” I ask, keeping my voice low enough so that only Kathryn can hear me.

“Yep.” She nods her head. “Come on, let’s get the good seats,” she says before tugging me back towards the window.

I don’t bother telling her that they’re all good seats. We’re in the owner’s box after all.

This is Travis’s first game since the incident. He’s been waiting for this moment for months now. His first official game as a Knight. Both of our parents are here to watch him too.

My mom walks over to me, concern knitting her brows. “You okay?”

“Uh-uh, just nervous. I want everything to go well for him,” I say.

“It will. I have a feeling today is going to be an unforgettable day for the both of you.” She smiles at me.

“What do you mean?”

“Nothing. I need to go and stop your father from drinking the bar dry.” She walks off, and I follow her movements as she makes her way over to where Dad is leaning against the back wall. He doesn’t even have a drink in his hand.

The lights go down, and I return my attention to the window. I pull my phone from my pocket and hold it up, ready to snap a picture the moment Travis’s skates hit the ice.
