13—Notes from ME

I sure hope that prologue has your mind spinning, and hopefully it gives you some idea of the complexity of One True Mate 11, and hopefully you enjoyed reading it.

This Let’s Talk One True Mate book is Volume 1, the first companion book to the One True Mate series. I’ll be writing a Volume 2 once book 13 is finished. If you have questions you would like answered or things you would like to see in Volume 2, please leave me a comment on my website and I’ll see what I can do. Here’s some of my current ideas: my favorite scenes, reader favorite scenes, most highlighted passages, all of Mac’s nicknames he’s called people, full character bios, the full Vahiy and the Vahiy signs, mate mark and wings list, character descriptions given in the books, a detailed list of family members, plus my drawings and images over the years.

? A note about Kindle Unlimited?— the program has always been good to me and I sincerely appreciate all of my Kindle Unlimited? readers. Thank you.

? A note about book 11. Anything I said about book 11 content might change. Things change during the writing.

? A note to any fledgling (or experienced) writers. If you want your book’s dialogue to sparkle, consider checking out my friend Anette at theblurbdiva.com — she’s super good at tiny tweaks that help existing dialogue become more clever, funny, and natural-sounding.

? A note ABOUT me. Now that we’re at the end, I must be honest about something. One True Mate is not perfect. ... it's not even polished. There's a lot of mistakes and meandering... possibly less with each book as I became a better writer, but possibly not. As I look back on the series the mistakes and meandering are painfully obvious, and there were times when rereading the books (as I had to do again and again) was truly painful for me. I like my own writing—I enjoy my own writing, but for a long time, finding mistakes sent me off into spirals of self-recrimination. The good news is I wanted to continue writing this series enough to learn self-compassion instead. That took years, but life feels better now. I will someday polish this series.

? A note about the writing of this book, Let's Talk One True Mate Vol 1, made me realize that otm11 is even bigger, deeper, more nuanced and complex than I had thought. It’s no wonder I haven’t been able to write it yet.

Writing that long chapter of convo between Burton, Timber, and Canyon deepened my understanding of the story that has come before and the story that has yet to come in ways I did not foresee. I'm so grateful. I want to do otm11 proud. I want it to be an amazing book, one with infinite re-readability, one you'll love forever… and this understanding gets me closer to that.
