EPILOGUE

Kyle—

Arriving at the clubhouse as darkness falls, I note all the changes in my life. I remember not too long ago, a time when I sat at the bar and watched my brother walk into this clubhouse with Sutton holding his hand.

Now it's my bike she climbs off. My hand she holds. Me she walks in with. None of this escapes me. Nor does the fact of how lucky I am.

She walked into my life like a ray of sunshine. I let her slip through my fingers the first time. But I won't ever let that happen again.

I tug her to my side and enter.

My brothers all turn, and Green starts clapping. "Look who came up for air. Nice of you to let her breathe, Kyle."

I grin, but I don't mind his ribbing. I'm too happy to complain.

"Can we get this damn meeting started now?" Cole growls, tossing back his drink and rising from his barstool.

Cupping Sutton's neck, I press a kiss to her lips. "This shouldn't take too long. Go wait with the other girls at the bar."

She turns, and Melissa motions her over. "Come sit with us, Sutton."

I follow my brothers down the hall, taking my place against the wall while the officers take the chairs.

Cole dispenses with the formalities, calling the meeting to order and going over some business. Apparently, Rafe hasn't paid his dues.

He spreads his hands. "I'll be a little late, but I'll get it."

Cole leans on his elbows. "I called this meeting because of Joselyn Silver."

That perks up everyone in the room.

"I thought that got taken care of," Shane asks.

Prez shakes his head. "She won't quit. Daytona says she's been to Vegas twice now."

"Good thing we put that tracker on her Mercedes," Crash mutters, dragging a hand down his face.

Red Dog leans forward. "There's no way she can get to these guys, is there? I mean, from what Trick said, he couldn't get near them."

"You gave her the money back." TJ reminds his father.

"I did."

"So, how's it our problem?" Wolf asks.

"I'd like to prevent her from ending up face down in a reservoir," Cole snaps.

My father lifts his palms in the air. "Fine. You got any ideas?"

"Maybe the FBI needs to have a chat with her," Crash says, steepling his hands.

"The FBI?" Cole asks, leaning in his chair. "You got some personal connections I don't know about, VP?"

Crash grins. "Maybe they're not actual FBI. Maybe they just look like FBI. We could probably fool her."

Cole laughs and lifts a hand around the room. "And which of these bearded, tattooed badasses you figure for that clean-cut job, dumbass?"

"I'm sure we could find someone to play the part."

"Yeah, who?"

"Doesn't the councilman owe you a favor?"

Cole stokes his chin, and we can all see the wheels turning. His chair creaks as he leans forward and points a finger at Crash. "You might have something there, VP."

The meeting drones on for another half hour as they toss ideas back and forth and make a plan, but all I can think about is Sutton.

TJ is standing next to me, and I catch his eye and mouth the words, "You get it?"

He nods.

Cole notices. "You boys got something you want to share with the class?"

He makes us feel like fourth grades getting caught passing notes.

TJ throws me under the bus. "Kyle is just impatient to get on to the next of the evening's festivities."

Cole's eyes shift to me. "That so?"

Green is tipped back in his chair, but brings the front legs down with a bang. "Oh, that's right. Word is he's got a property patch to hand out. Sweet love is in the air."

Cole rolls his eyes and slams the gavel down. "Fine. Meeting adjourned."

We trudge out the door, and Green throws his arm around me. "Now there's a way to do this thing, kid."

"Do it any way you want," Red Dog disagrees. "Leave him alone, Green."

"Hey, I'm practically his cupid. I set him up with the Love Machine, didn't I? I think I oughta get some credit for makin' this whole thing happen."

"You get no credit," my father snaps.

"Yeah, what Wolf said," Shane mutters, shoving Green's head.

We walk out into the main room, and the ladies spin around.

Cole drags a chair out into the center and crooks a finger at Sutton. "Come here, girlie."

She looks like a deer in the headlights but does as he says.

"It's all you, kid," Cole says, slapping my shoulder.

A moment later, TJ walks over with the vest.

I take it and turn to face the love of my life.

"Sutton, I'm asking you to wear this. It means you're mine. Always. Forever. No more running away. Understand?"

"That's romantic, brother," Rafe says, sarcasm biting his tone.

I give him a death glare, and he lifts his palms up, laughing. Turning to Sutton, I hold the vest up, letting her read it. "I want you to be my ol' lady, Sutton. You gotta tell me now—yes or no. You know I love you, and I'll do anything for you, girl. So how ‘bout it?"

"Say yes, Sutton!" the girls all scream.

She stands. "Yes, baby. I want to be your ol' lady. More than anything."

I swoop her into my arms and twirl her around.

"Good thing you said yes, Sutton," TJ adds. "He had to pay a hundred bucks extra to get the patch lady to make that for you in a rush job."

I set her down and slip it on her, then bend her back with a big kiss, and all my brothers and their ol' ladies cheer.

I know in my heart Sutton and I have a bright future. With her by my side, there's nothing we can't do.

RAFE: Sins of the Father

Evil Dead MC – Second Generation

The bad boy and the good girl.

I just started a new job at a lumber mill in the mountains outside of town.

It's just a job to me, until I lay eyes on the owner's daughter.

Then everything changes.

I need this job, and she's the definition of off-limits—the boss's daughter.

I should stay away. I know better than to mess with a good girl like her.

The first time she notices me, I'm being handcuffed and put in the back of a squad car.

Fantastic.

After that, she turns her nose up at me, like I'm trash.

Our mutual disdain builds and keeps a needed wall between us.

She stays up the hill at the big house with the wrap-around porch, and I stay down by the mill.

Until one night, tragedy strikes, and I'm the only one left working, the only one there to protect her and take care of her.

All of a sudden, our differences aren't so sharp, and our mutual disdain melts away as we finally see each other more deeply.

A friendship builds, and soon turns to a secret love that burns hot in the dark of night.
