Chapter Ten

Phoebe

The winery's barn is adorable. The florist did a great job of making it look rustic and simple. We are standing where we will for tomorrow's ceremony and I can't stop the tears from flowing down my cheeks. I'm going to be a mess tomorrow. I look back at Maggie and she's the same. Rosie and Alex stare into each other's eyes and I'm sure they have no idea what's happening around them. They've barely answered any question asked of them and they've not followed a single direction.

"We are having a sister sleepover tonight," Maggie whispers in my ear.

"What?"

"Yes, Rosie wants to do the whole groom not seeing the bride before the wedding thing."

This is the first I've heard of this and ruins my plans for the night, but this weekend is about Rosie and if that's what she wants to do then we'll do it. Logan will understand.

I look over to him. He's been watching me the whole night. He looks delicious in his suit and tie. Ruby told me she picked the tie because she knew it matched my dress. The twins also apologized for leaving my room in a huff earlier.

"He hasn't stopped looking at you this entire night," Maggie whispers.

"I know."

"So, are you changing your mind about Logan?"

"We can talk about this later," I say as I feel my face heating up.

"You had sex." My least favorite sister says much louder than a whisper. Everyone whips around to look at me and then Logan, even the bride and groom who haven't been paying attention to anything but each other.

To get everyone's attention back on the wedding, Alex, very loudly, says, "Rosie's pregnant."

Everyone starts screaming then and chaos ensues.

Maggie, Rosie, and I huddle together.

"Are you really pregnant?" I ask.

"Yes," Rosie answers with hearts in her eyes. "We found out a couple of days ago. I wanted to wait till tonight when we were alone to tell you both, but Alex is Alex-ing."

I look over at my youngest sister and grumble "No, it's more like Maggie is Maggie-ing."

"I'm so sorry, Phoebe. I didn't mean to say it out loud like that." Maggie takes a deep breath. "I'm sorry to you too Rosie. Your moment was ruined and this rehearsal has been kind of crazy."

Rosie laughs. "Isn't this the way things go with us?" We all nod. "We can celebrate tonight with cake and fake champagne. Right now I need to make sure Alex isn't driving himself crazy with guilt."

Rosie walks off and Maggie watches her go with so much guilt in her eyes. "Hey, you know she's okay, right? She looks so happy about her wedding and now the baby, nothing could dim her shine."

"I guess, but what about you."

I look over at Logan who's staring at me with so much heat. I do a quick scan for the twins, but I don't see them. "Logan doesn't seem to be bothered by any of it. I just don't know if the twins heard you."

"I don't think they were here. I saw them leaving about ten minutes earlier."

"Then you're totally in the clear. If it's all grown-ups no big deal."

"So…did you have sex?" Maggie asks in an actual whisper.

"Not exactly."

"I don't want the details of what that means. Go talk to Logan. I'm assuming the rehearsal part of this night is over. I'm going to find the photographer and make sure she's taking enough pictures. I didn't see her as much as I would like."

I wave as she walks off and immediately Logan begins making his way to me. I stand still, still at the floral wedding arch, and wait for him.

"You looked so beautiful up here with all the flowers. It made me think about what it will be like when it's our turn," he says as he gently kisses my lips.

"Our turn?"

"You have to know I'm crazy about you, Phoebe." Logan smiles. "I know we've only known each other for a few days and you have some reservations, but I'm sure enough for the both of us right now."

"Logan…"

"Don't say anything. It's okay." He grabs my hand and starts leading me over to the food. "Let's get something to eat. I know you must be starving."

"You aren't going to say anything about my sister's announcement?"

"Oh, the baby? That's amazing. Are you excited to be an aunt?"

I hadn't even thought about being an aunt. My mind is so confused. I'm the worst sister ever, so wrapped up in my stuff I didn't even really process that my big sister is going to be a mom.

"I meant Maggie's announcement…" I distractedly answer, looking for Rosie. She's not here anymore and neither is Alex.

"Phoebe?"

"I need to go."

I walk away from him while he's calling my name.
