Blog Post #1534

Hello readers!

Today Whisk Me Away brings you a special treat that will have you wanting to sit still until the whole plate of cookies is gone.

That's right, folx, this is a cookie recipe. I know, I know. I have too many cookie recipes. What about the breads? What about the cinnamon rolls?

Well, nothing beats a chewy, gooey, melty-goodness cookie. And I like variety, so I have a ton of cookie recipes!

I first had these cookies at a little bakery in Southern Michigan, recommended to me by my travel agent brother and his business partner, Graham. I've mentioned them before, you can find their business information for all your travel needs here Link to Compass Chronicles Blog>.

Folx with nut allergies, have no fear, you can leave out the macadamia nuts from these and just add more white chocolate chips. You can even add in candies or sprinkles. You can't go wrong with this recipe!

Not like me, I've gone wrong in a lot of ways. Here I am writing a blog post while the cookies cool on the counter, wanting to share them with the love of my life, Graham. Except Graham only sees me as his best friend's little brother.

I see Graham as more. So much more.

I've been in love with him longer than I've been a baker, and ya'll, I've been a baker my whole life.

My first memory is of me baking cookies with my Gram.

Now I just wish I was baking cookies with my Graham.

Only he's not mine. But I wish he was.

Back to the recipe….

I've told you before, make sure you use room temp butter, and cream it with the sugar. Don't just dump it all in the mixer and let it go. Baking is an art. Take your time.

Like I've been taking my time telling Graham how I feel.

I almost told him once. The day he set out on his first travel adventure—backpacking through Europe for three months with only his camera. He never was one to stay in one place for long. Meanwhile, I've lived in the same house my whole life and have no desire to move. I would like to travel more… especially if Graham was my guide.

But I digress.

Once the sugar and butter are all creamed together, beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Toss in the sprinkles, nuts, chips, whatever you want here! Fold it all in so that's mixed really well.

Now, back to Graham. Every time I bake any cookies—or use a whisk or look at a whisk or think of a whisk—I can't help but think of him. I imagine us sitting together, sharing a plate of warm macadamia nut cookies fresh from the oven. Maybe then he'll finally realize that my feelings for him are sweeter than the cookies I bake for him special every time he comes home from a trip.

Graham's cookies. The only recipe I'll never share.

So, whether you're baking for someone special or simply treating yourself to a little love (or sitting around feeling sad, that's fine too!), remember to infuse every moment with the warmth and sweetness that only your favorite baked goods can bring. Who knows, maybe your own Graham is just a batch of cookies away.

Happy baking, friends! And here's to love and baked goods—Let it Whisk You Away!
