Rosie

"Thank you!"

The doors to our tour bus shut and the screaming sounds from our fans who have been gathered outside since the concert ended dims to a dull roar. I fall into the bench seat that serves as our living room, kitchen, and office while we are on the road.

"I'm so tired," my youngest sister, Maggie groans.

We all are. This tour has been six months long and while we know how lucky we are to be at the top of the charts finally and selling out arenas, with the success comes a lot more work.

"We get a break now. No shows for four months," our middle sister, Phoebe cheers. "Oh, except for that charity thing for Liz. That's next week, right?"

I nod my head. I had forgotten about it until Liz called last week. She had been squirrelly and suspicious on the phone asking me about my dating life and if I was seeing anyone. Like there's time on tour to find a man.

I wouldn't mind finding someone to snuggle with, but he would have to be willing to put up with a lot and I just don't think there's anyone out there for this time in my life. I might have a four-month break from touring, but it's because the record label wants us to record another album so we can go on another tour when this one is over.

"What are you thinking about over there, Rosie?" Maggie asks as she slips on pajama bottoms under her costume.

"Just stuff. What we are doing for the next years of our lives."

She throws my pajamas at me. "Phoebe gets the first shower, but you can have the second. Any reason for the existential thoughts, big sister?"

"Liz asked if I was dating when she called the other day, and it got me thinking about how our lives and men just wouldn't work out. There's no way a guy would be okay with all we deal with – the crowds, the paparazzi, the traveling. We do not live an appealing life for an outsider."

"I love it," Maggie shrugs.

"Me too," I reassure her. "But we worked our behinds off to get here. It's our passion and what we want more than anything. Someone on the outside might not understand it."

Phoebe walks into the room, towel drying her hair, "But, just to play devil's advocate, what if you're his passion and what he wants more than anything else? Wouldn't the crowds, the paparazzi, and the traveling not matter?"

Maggie and I just stare at her. Phoebe is always the cynical, sarcastic sister. I'm the daydreamer and Maggie is a combination of the two.

"You could be right. But I don't know how we're supposed to meet anyone either. This is all just talk. I'm not ready to settle down and neither are the two of you. Liz just got me thinking and I'm tired. The time off will do us all good."

I pick up the pajamas that Maggie had thrown at me earlier and head to the shower. Our tour bus doesn't leave much room to maneuver, but it's much bigger than the minivan we started our band in. I shower as quickly as possible, so Maggie has a chance at hot water.

Usually, we shower and change at the venue, but since it was our last show and we were driving back to San Diego, we decided to just get going. Everyone is ready to be home.

I climb into my bunk after showering and grab my Kindle off the charger. I might not believe there's a man out there who could put up with my crazy world, but I do believe in happily ever after, especially the swoony, over-the-top kind.
