Epilogue
Alexander stared up at the sky, watching for the plane carrying his father and his girlfriend. He was nervous. He had never felt like he did with Sam and she was the one constant in his life since the moment she walked in. For the most part, he had given up on love, finding someone who could deal with all his issues, but then Sam walked into his life, infuriated him to his core. Yet, she pushed him to become the person he wanted, and not give into things everyone else thought. For the longest time, he let the scars define him, and it ruined him. Depression kicked in and he didn’t try anymore, instead he just pushed everyone away because that was easier.
Sam had changed his life and filled it with love, showed him what it meant to be a good man, and not let others define who he was, and once he understood, his life became infinitely better. No more Carlyle or any of that shit. He focused on the things he was passionate about and said fuck it to the rest.
Sam had been working hard to pass with flying colors and get the job she had dreamed about for years. The airlines were calling her name, and after all the hard work she had put in, if she didn’t get chosen, it would sting a little.
Alyx and Mick had graduated, and without Decker at the lead of PXF, they were willing to let him out of his contracts as long as he paid back the money for his certifications and schooling within a year, which had been easily accomplished. They must have forgotten where he came from, because he had a trust fund. It wasn’t like he couldn’t pay back the money. He was glad to get far away from them and do what he wanted.
With Sam and Mick’s urging, he had reunited with his family, and things had settled into a steady if not perfect routine. It had been interesting to say the least, and at first he was nervous as hell about getting into contact with his family, but Sam pushed him. She thought that it would help with his episodes too.
Neither of them saw it coming, but his dad liked Sam more than he liked Alexander, and he was okay with that. He wanted everyone to love Sam because she wasn’t going anywhere.
Not being the focus of his father’s attention seemed to be beneficial for their relationship, and Sam, being the focus, didn’t bring up the feeling of jealousy that Mick did.
He was in therapy, which also helped, so he could talk about things with Sam and his family, and the things he couldn’t talk about with them, he could with Mick or his therapist. Mick had moved out of the apartment a month after they graduated and Sam had moved in, just like his friend had planned.
He didn’t know how he had gone so long without opening his heart, but he was glad he did or else he would have missed Sam. If the housing headquarters hadn’t of made their mistake, they wouldn’t have met, and she wouldn’t have fallen in love with him. He would still be the brooding asshole everyone stared at but didn’t want to talk to. Now things had changed for the better in every area of his life.
And now, Sam and Paxton had graduated. Paxton had been hired, and this was Sam’s last test, which she was sure to pass with flying colors. Everyone knew how smart she was, and she hadn’t failed a thing in her entire life because like he learned, academics was all she had growing up, in and out of foster homes every year. He wanted to give her a house to call home, and he planned on doing that tonight. At dinner, he was going to give her the ring he had bought, along with the chain, so she could wear it around her neck when she was working in an engine.
Sam Lawrence was going to be his wife, and he was the luckiest guy in the world. Now, his dream was to have a couple of cute kidlets running around who would see him as the man he was now, and not the man he used to be.
