Chapter Ten

Water trailed down Adam's skin. Adam hadn't been on a vacation in years. When he surprised Pink with a trip to St. John, Pink had been thrilled. He loved that he was the reason Adam finally allowed himself to fully relax. Pink also adored those beads of water. He was jealous. Pink wanted to shape Adam's lines with his tongue. He didn't try to hide the way he watched Adam's every move. They were definitely still in that stage where they couldn't keep their hands to themselves.

Their private villa on the beach had a pool that was half inside and opened up to the outdoors for the other half. Pink sat in a lounge by the pool inside, watching Adam swim. It was one of the many ways Adam stayed in shape. Pink enjoyed the show.

Adam caught him staring and climbed from the pool. He headed Pink's way, looking sexy as fuck. Pink moved his feet so Adam could sit. Adam grabbed a towel and scrubbed his hair. Pink chewed his bottom lip. He was obsessed.

Adam looked his way. "Are you still upset about the job?"

Pink winced. The offer for the position he wanted had been withdrawn when they received Pink's background check. There wasn't much to find beyond a month-long stint in a mental health ward. The social security number Quentin had quickly bought for him years ago had to be used for that stay. Now he looked like someone who couldn't withstand a job working with troubled teens. It was what it was. "It's okay. A new job would've kept me from being here with you." Pink squeezed his hands together and shoved them between his raised knees, hoping to hide the way he felt. Unfortunately, that coping mechanism didn't stop his mouth. "I did it to myself."

Adam's understanding expression made Pink's throat swell. Sometimes he wished Adam didn't know him quite so well. "Quentin can get you a different background and you can find something similar." Adam looked uncomfortable for a moment. He snagged their nearby beach bag and pulled it closer. "Or maybe I can offer you a second option." He dug inside the bag and pulled out something Pink couldn't see until he popped open a ring box.

Pink gasped. It was fucking gorgeous. The ring was perfect for him. It was diamonds and petals, forming a flower chain. The piece was Pink in jewelry.

Pink snatched the ring from the box and put it on. "Yes."

A laugh burst from Adam. "Do you even want to hear my proposal? I've been working on it all day."

Heat filled Pink's cheeks. "Sorry. Yes, and yes."

Adam wore a huge grin. He stared at Pink in silence.

"Your proposal. You've been working on it all day," Pink reminded him.

With a shake of his head, Adam laughed. "Sorry. You're beautiful. I forgot what I planned to say."

"Hopefully, it was something about us getting married really soon."

"Oh." Adam looked startled, making Pink realize he truly had forgotten what he planned to say. Pink's heart swelled with love. He adored this man. "Maybe hold off on finding a job. I mean, you don't really have to work and I kind of want to travel. When I started planning this trip for us, it made me realize how many things I've never seen, but I want to see them… with you. Will you marry me?"

Pink nodded. Tears unexpectedly filled his eyes. "I want that. All of it."

Adam gathered Pink in his arms. Their lips met and Pink felt the promise in his heart. They were a relationship nearly four years in the making. No one could say they rushed into things. Adam was his other half. His best friend. They shared a past and a bond not just anyone else would understand. They were each other's person. There was no place else Pink would rather be than wherever Adam went. They would forever be a set.
