29. Chapter Twenty-Nine

Chapter Twenty-Nine

I t's only the beginning of November, and the season so far has been brutal. As hard as Mac, Dean, and I try, we haven't found much time to spend together. We sneak kisses and touches here and there, filled with our need to be near each other.

The only time we've found to spend together is when we are at home. Which isn't a lot of time when we are all exhausted and fall asleep the moment our heads hit the pillows.

Next weekend, we have a few days off, and I am hoping we can plan something. I would be happy with just sitting at home and having a movie night, at this point. Maybe a ‘Netflix-and-Chill', if you know what I mean.

I'm watching the team's post-game press conference from the sidelines as they answer questions for the press and public about the game in a few days. As much as I try to pay attention to all the guys, my eyes keep locking onto Mac and Dean. No matter how hard I try to keep my wandering eyes away from them.

I don't feel bad, considering they keep searching me out in the crowd of people.

Dean's eyes meet mine, and he smirks and winks in my direction as he answers a particularly beautiful reporter's question. I'm sure she thinks that it's meant for her but—as much as that irks me, we don't need anyone finding out about our secret relationship.

I glance around quickly, finding no one looking my direction, before blowing him a quick kiss. His eyes glitter with amusement until Mac snaps a hand in front of his face.

My eyes flick to him and he's also smirking. He pats his left pec before grinning wide my way. A female's voice snaps me back to reality when she asks, "Are you well, Mr. Oliver?"

He nods and replies, "Of course."

Dean bumps shoulders with Mac as he grunts in French, "Connard."

The reporter points between the two of them. "There appears to be some rivalry between the two of you. Is this normal?"

Mac throws an arm over Dean's shoulder as he laughs. "Lewi and I go way back. We like to have fun and cause some trouble."

"And you just stole a kiss from a fan. She blew that kiss to me," Dean growls.

The reporter's eyes widen, and she sucks in a breath. "Mr. Lewis are you dating anyone? You've never shown interest in the past."

Dean looks to the reporter, now realizing what he'd said. He briefly looks my way before looking back at the reporter. "Well, this fan girl is a bit special."

I bite my lip, wondering how he plans to get himself out of this situation. He just announced to the media that there is a girl he's interested in, and the press are going to do everything possible to find the girl who captured the bad boy's heart.

"We have a bit of a competition going to see who will capture her heart first," Mac adds.

I groan as the press roars with questions and squeals, everyone shouting over one another. I pinch the bridge of my nose when the reporter asks, "Is there any way you'll give us the lucky girl's name?"

Mac holds a finger to his lips and winks. "It's a secret. How are we supposed to capture her heart with the press is breathing down her neck?"

"Protecting her identity can only earn us brownie points, right?" Dean asks with a devilish smirk.

The reporter titters, but she moves on from questioning the mystery girl's identity. Thankfully, the reporters don't bring up the mystery girl again, but I have a feeling that while they may let it go for now, the question will be asked at future press conferences.

Danni bumps my shoulder with a snicker. "Do you know who their mystery girl is?"

I arch a brow. "What makes you think I would know?"

She rolls her eyes. "You are literally over there every day. You would be the first to know."

I shrug, neither confirming nor denying if I know her identity.

She looks me up and down with an assessing eye before smirking. "Sure you don't know who she is. I have a feeling I know, though."

"Who?" I ask, trying to sound uninterested and not give away how nervous I feel. I don't think she would tell anyone, but that doesn't mean I want others to know.

She presses a finger to her lips as she backs away. "It's a secret, didn't you know."

My brows knit as I frown. "Danni," I chastise.

She keeps a smirk on her face. "I'm not telling anyone. Not even you."

She turns and walks away, leaving me to wonder if she actually knows or not. Given how observant she is, it wouldn't surprise me if she's put it all together. So why hasn't she said anything? People have lost their jobs over speculation alone before, and this is definitely more than speculation.

Shaking my head, I turn back to the guys. They are wrapping up with the press. Once dismissed, Dean and Mac don't hesitate to get up. I watch as they make their way toward the exit. The meeting today was held in the Wraiths rink. Which means they have to head down the hallway of offices to reach the exit.

Sighing, I head in the same direction. If I can finish up an hour of paperwork before I leave for the night, I will have time to hang out with the guys.

I leave the press room, mentally going over the paperwork I need to get done, but squeal loudly when I'm jerked to the right and into a dark room. I open my mouth to scream as the door shuts, and lips are suddenly on mine. Making a fist to punch my attacker, I pause when I breath in the scent of cinnamon and cedarwood. Dean. My body relaxes as he kisses me breathless.

I pull away with a gasp, and he leaves a trail of kisses down my throat. Someone else's hand grips my chin from behind, gentle as he turns my face toward him and presses his lips to mine.

When the sharp scents of peppermint and pine mingle with the smell of Dean, I groan. Mac.

"Fuck, I've missed this," Dean mumbles into my neck as his hands tighten on my hips.

I pull away from Mac with a whispered gasp. "We can't do anything here."

Mac huffs in my ear before saying, "We know, Chérie."

Dean steps away with a pained look on his face. "We needed an uninterrupted moment with you."

"I can get leave early tonight. Let's spend some time together at the apartment," I say hopefully.

Dean and Mac both groan. Dean leans his forehead to my shoulder as Mac presses his into my hair.

"Wish we could, Ice Princess," Dean says sadly.

"Coach wants us to run a few more drills before we call it a night," Mac adds.

I sigh and nod. "Alright. But we can still meet up at the apartment tonight. I'll stick around until you guys are done. I know you don't want me at the apartment by myself, but we could use some alone time."

Mac and Dean both press kisses to my cheeks before backing away.

"Sounds like a plan, Chérie." Mac backs away slowly before opening the door.

"We'll see you after practice," Dean says gently pressing another kiss to my lips before leaving with Mac.

Standing there for a moment, I huff out another deep sigh. Dating hockey players is difficult because of their crazy schedules. As I look over my shoulder to the closed door, I can't help but smile softly. Those two? They are worth it.
