Chapter 20
CHAPTER TWENTY
K night pulled out his phone and hit a button. He stared the captain of the local police department down with an icy glare at the man.
“Yo, boss.”
“Did they talk?” Knight asked, cutting straight to the point as he smirked
“All five of them squealed. All five of them are on Mackey’s payroll and had a meeting with him at his club before they came here for their lunch to celebrate.”
“Good. Give them the money they were promised and let them go with the knowledge we see them again, they join their bosses in hell.”
Knight hung up the phone and looked over at his brother and nodded. It was their signal that everything they had suspected was confirmed. Now that they had their confirmation, the next phase of their plan was to come into action.
Once their men stepped into the restaurant, the five men were taken into their custody, screaming bloody murder and all. They will be taken to their special location for a proper interrogation.
“Hold on, trouble. I’m coming for you. I promise!” Knight murmured, more to himself than anyone else.
“We’ll find her. I promise. It’s time we called O’Malley. He needs to be brought in for the next phase in our assault against Mackey. If he’s pulling this power play, we need to have help. We don’t know how many men he has waiting for us.”
“I know. If I can, Donovan, because she’s my woman, I’d like to be the one to tell O’Malley he has a daughter.”
Knight had to admit he was a little bit worried how his brother would handle that request. Donovan was the head of their organization, just like Patrick O’Malley was the head of his.
Even though they were brothers, there was a certain hierarchy that was to be followed in this world. He would respect whatever Donovan chose for them to do, no matter what.
“Let me get him on the phone and then you can take over from there.”
“Thank you. I appreciate it more than you know!” Knight smiled over at his brother.
“We will bring her home. I promise you!” Donovan vowed firmly.
“We’ll bring them both home. No matter what, Mackey and his crew die tonight.”
“Mackey will die tonight. You have my guarantee on that one, brother.”
Knight nodded at his older brother and felt some of the tightness ease. He was getting ready for war. Now they just had to get through the next hurdle so that the war could begin.
Knight followed his brother up to the penthouse and paced while he waited for his brother to reach out to O’Malley. He nearly came out of his skin when Donovan tapped him on the shoulder mid-stride.
“He’s willing to talk to you. I just told him that you needed to have a conference with him. He’s waiting on video conference in my office.”
Knight nodded at his brother and turned towards Donovan’s office. He didn’t have to look over his shoulder to know that his brother was behind him.
“Knight, your brother said you needed to speak with me. What’s going on, son?”
Patrick O’Malley still had the Irish lit he remembered from his boyhood days. The man had grown up in Ireland, a true Irish boy until his da moved them to the US to take over his brother’s operation when he was gunned down years ago. He was sixteen when he made that move.
Their da moved from Ireland to the US along with the O’Malley’s when he was the same age. He worked for them, rising in the ranks when the O’Malley’s made their da a leader of his own organization for his loyalty to them.
The O’Malley’s were known from Maine all the way down to Florida and across the continent. They had their fingers in several large cities and ran them with a steel fist. They were one of the most powerful Irish Mafia families in the US. They made the O’Rourke family their second hand which made them the second most powerful Irish Mafia family.
“Sir, this is going to probably to be the hardest conversation we have ever had over the years. Do you remember a woman named Debbie Jones? She was in college there in Boston when you met her.” Knight swallowed around the lump in his throat.
“Aye, I remember that whore of Babylon. Why do you ask me about that woman?”
Knight watched as the man leaned forward, his forearms resting on his desk through the monitor he watched him through. His hands clasped in front of him. Yeah, this was going to be the hardest conversation of his life.
“During one of your affairs with the woman, she got pregnant with a child. When she found out, she ran back to North Carolina. She’s here in Asheville. Sir, you have a beautiful, amazing and witty daughter, named Avery. And she’s in trouble.”
“Trouble? Wait, you are telling me that bitch knew she was pregnant with my child, and she left Boston with my child in her fucking belly, and kept it from me? Where the fuck is that bitch now? What kind of trouble is my daughter in?”
Yep, the man was furious at the news he just got told. Knight had only seen the man pissed once. That once was enough for him.
“Yes sir, Debbie is here in North Carolina. Currently she’s being held in our interrogation area. Sir, what I’m about to tell you is going to be hard as hell for you to hear. I found out about everything recently, when I started dating Avery. That was before I knew she was your daughter, sir.”
“You’re in love with her?”
“With every fiber of my being sir. It’s why Debbie is in our interrogation area as soon as we found out what she’d done to Avery.”
“What did that cunt do to my daughter?”
Fuck! Knight thought he and Donovan were scary when they were angry. Patrick O’Malley was the one person they agreed was even scarier.
“Sir, let’s just say she hasn’t treated Avery the best. She got married to another man. Had a daughter with that man. Where he is, we don’t know. Debbie and the daughter, Emily treat Avery horribly. We just found out during our investigation that Debbie and Emily had tried to sell Avery’s virginity to the highest bidder.”
“They did what?” Patrick O’Malley yelled through the screen, smacking his desk.
“They didn’t succeed sir. The plan was once she had been taken, she was to be sold into human trafficking. “
“Who the fuck is behind this scheme, and you damn site better have a name, Knight.”
