Chapter 12

CHAPTER TWELVE

A very woke the next morning alone. When she stretched, she had to groan. Her entire body was sore as hell.

Knight had used and abused her body last night as both punishment for her accusing him of fucking her then being interested in her sister afterwards. He planned to prove his point, she was his.

She had to admit she was a little sour about waking up alone, but Knight had already told her that Donovan had a couple of meetings today. She couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to wake up next to him just once.

Rolling over, she glanced at the clock and groaned. She needed to get up and get ready for the day. While the school was closed, since it was a Saturday, they were having their annual Spring Carnival for the kids and their families.

Avery got up and stopped when she saw the note lying on her phone. Picking it up, she couldn’t help but smile at Knight’s chicken scratch.

“Hope you have a great day. Take care of my Ginger Snaps. Call me if you need me. No matter what it is. I’ll see you soon. Love Knight!”

Avery couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled up inside her. They had taken to calling each other names after he found out she liked horror flicks. Some names were even serial killer names. It was their thing.

Avery got her shower and decided to be a brat and took a picture of herself in the shower from the shoulders up. She sent it to Knight with the comment “Look what you are missing!”

She was pulling into the parking lot of the school when Knight texted her back. She let out a loud laugh when she read the text.

Knight: “My hands are twitching.”

Avery: “Might need to see a Dr. about that. I believe there’s medication for that type of condition.”

Knight: “I’ll be seeing a specialist tonight!”

Avery: “Promises, promises!”

Knight: “Have a good time today, Jennifer!”

Avery: “Thank you, Freddy!”

Avery smiled as she got out of her car. She was still smiling as she got to the teacher’s conference room. She sat down next to her best friend, Mia, and shoulder bumped her.

“Welcome back, Hooker!” Avery said to her bestie.

“Thank you, John. How are you?” Mia smirked at Avery.

“Deliciously sore and happy! I’ve met someone.” Avery admitted to Mia.

“Oh, really? Ok bitch! Spill the tea!” Mia clapped her hands in excitement.

Avery told Mia about Knight and how they met. They talked about possibly setting up a double date in the near future.

The two women were walking out arm in arm to set up their booth that they were sharing for the carnival when Mark came up to them. Neither woman really cared for him. He made them think of a scary closet freak.

“Good morning, ladies. Avery, how are your leg cramps today?”

“Oh, yes. I’m better now, thank you! Hope your mother is doing better.”

Avery ignored the confused glances she was getting from Mia. She was not telling her about that scenario. The fact that she lost her virginity on her classroom desk was not something she told her best friend with an audience.

“My mother?” Mark asked in confusion.

“Weren’t you out for a couple of days because your mother was sick? That’s what Principal Moore told us.” Avery answered hesitantly.

“Oh. Yes. Yes, I was. Sorry. Have a lot going on. Yes, she’s much better. Um, I was wondering, now that she’s better and you’re feeling better, would you like to have dinner after the carnival?” Mark asked, stepping closer with a leering smile on his face.

“Thanks for asking, but no. I’m dating someone. I wish you luck in finding someone though.”

Avery pulled on Mia and walked away. Mark always gave her the heebie jeebies.

Throughout the day, Avery would get a text checking up on her or to see how the carnival was going. She was falling hard and fast for this man.

“Avery, you have some explaining to do, young lady!”

Avery looked over at her mother, horrified at the scene she was causing. Putting her phone down on the table, she hurried over to her mother.

“What are you doing here? This is a school event! What do you want?”

“What did you do to Emily? She came home crying, saying that you embarrassed her in front of the O’Rourke’s when she was speaking to the head man himself! How dare you! You have always been jealous of your sister!” Debbie Jones yelled at Avery.

“I haven’t seen or spoken to Emily, mother. If Emily got embarrassed speaking to Donovan, she did that on her own. Now, you need to leave. This is my job!”

“You had better go and apologize to your sister or I will file a complaint with the school board against you!”

“Go ahead, mother. See what happens when you do!” Avery warned her mother, fed up with her treatment of her.

“You’re just jealous that a man like Donovan O’Rourke would be interested in a woman as beautiful as your sister!” Debbie challenged Avery.

“Let’s get something straight, I don’t give two fucks in a windstorm who or what Emily is interested in. I do know that Donovan would never lower his standards for a whore like Emily! He actually has taste and class. Emily didn’t make a play for Donovan last night. She went after his brother, Knight. He is my man. That’s right mother. An O’Rourke likes me, not Emily. Donovan, whom I met last night, wouldn’t fuck Emily with his worst enemy’s dick, so both of you can take your holier than thou bullshit and shove it!” Avery advised, getting into her mother’s face near the end.

“Why you little bitch!”

Debbie raised her hand to smack Avery. When she swung her hand, she was stopped by another hand grabbing hers.”

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you!
