Chapter Eleven

The ground began to crumble underneath their feet as Tieran and Bryce ran as fast as they could for the distortion field. The world around them was collapsing.

This world wasn’t going to explode or go out with a bang. It was going to implode, and if they didn’t get through that distortion field in the next fifty or so seconds, they were going to implode with the world. When she saw the field up ahead, she held her breath.

They might make it. When they got to the distortion field, Tieran insisted that Bryce go first. He literally picked him up and threw him through the field and then he ran.

They sprang forward, leaping headfirst into the distortion field as the world around them twisted and unraveled, dissolving into the cold expanse of outer space. In an instant, they plummeted through the distortion field, their bodies crashing onto the solid ground of their newly shared world. The last bell tolled, ringing out at midnight, a sound that echoed across the changed landscape.

Tia’s heart pounded as she took in the aftermath. Across the planet, monsters staggered back to their senses, eyes wide with the weight of what they had done. A piercing cry rose into the night—monsters mourning the lives they had taken, while humans wept for loved ones who hadn’t survived the horrors of the night. The air crackled with anguish as both sides faced the destruction left in the wake of their shared nightmare.

Tia watched as her mother moved between the humans and the Vargaris. She smiled as she watched her mother hand out cups of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate and Rylin was right there by her side talking to not only his people but to Tia’s people.

She knew that soon reporters would be flooding the area, and she didn’t want to talk to them. She’d leave her mother and father, oh wow, to become the ambassadors of not only one group of people but both. They would represent them well.

“What now?” Tia asked Tieran.

“We sneak away to your house and spend the rest of this night making love.”

“I had Rylin fix your door,” Calista called out, making Rylan laugh.

“Son, I’ll give you some pointers on kicking down the door later,” Rylin said.

“I’m never gonna live this down,” Tieran murmured into Tia’s ear making her laugh.

“We’re alive,” Tia shouted, jumping up to hug Tieran around his neck.

“We are, unless you choke me to death.” He wrapped his arms around her waist and spun her around. She threw her head back and screamed in victory.

“This is it. It’s over. Now we can become one big happy family," she shouted.

Bryce rolled his eyes, impressing Tia before he walked over to her parents.

“I’m assuming he’s off duty now,” Tia said.

“I think he’s done enough for tonight,” Tieran replied.

“I believe I heard someone talk about kisses and rocking my world,” Tia arched her brow as she looked at him.

“I do believe I know someone who can make that dream come true.”

“Perfect. The only prophecy I want to fulfill is the one where I make love to you for the rest of my life.” Tieran picked her up, threw her over his shoulder, smacked her ass, and started walking through a confused yet laughing crowd.

Their antics broke some of the tension everyone was feeling.

“The reporters,” Calista called out.

“You got this, mom,” Tia said. “Wow them with the twenty-nine-year-old love affair that you’ve been having.” Her mother glared at her, making Tia laugh harder.

She was going to have so much fun at her parents’ expense. Tieran walked up the steps to her house to find that the door had been fixed and it was closed. He turned the knob, and it opened smoothly.

They walked inside and he put Tia down on the floor before he closed the door.

“We’re home.” Tia stopped to look around at her small house. “Is this where you’ll want to live?” She was unsure because there was nothing castle-like or royalty-like about her house.

“I would love to live in this bubble of peace with you.”

“We’re not going to be able to stay here. You hold too much power and influence in this world, but we can think about that tomorrow. The sun hasn’t even come up.” She grabbed his hands and started walking backwards, leading him to her bedroom.

They both stripped, only to realize that they were streaked with blood. They turned and made a beeline for the bathroom to find out that Rylin had fixed the bathroom door too. She was going to have to give her father props. He was handy with tools.

Tia started the water running until it was nice and hot, and they stepped into the shower. Tieran washed her down, and she washed him down until all the dirt and the blood circled the drain, disappearing for good.

She had a million questions to ask, like how could he be a vampire with a heartbeat? Why was he warm and not cold? And although she knew he drank blood, the only blood he better drink from now on was hers, but none of those questions were for tonight. She’d ask them tomorrow in the brightness of the day. Now all she wanted was her mate.

He kissed her, his tongue invading her mouth, making her lose her mind to nothing but lust.

“We can’t make love in a shower. It’s too dangerous. We could fall,” she said. That was the small bit of sanity she was holding on to.

“Obviously, you’ve never made love to a vampire before. Let me show you what we can do.” She chuckled as her mate held her against the wall and began to kiss every inch of her body. He took her nipple into his mouth, sucking until she almost lost her mind before he moved down and kissed and licked at her until he was on his knees, her pussy in front of his face.

Tieran drove his tongue into her pussy, lapping up the moisture that was flowing from her body. Her hands were on his shoulders. She played with his hair and ran her fingers down his back before he stood up.

He picked her up, his thick cock jutting out in front of him. He pulled her to his body with deliberate slowness, thrusting his hips to invade the territory before him. The deeper he went, the closer she got to him.

When he pulled her flush against him, she could wrap her legs around his waist. He pushed her against the shower stall and thrust. Time seemed to stand still.

All she could do was meet him thrust for thrust. There was no Tia, and there was no Tieran. They had taken two separate people and melded them into one.

They had walked through hell as two separate souls and come out on the other side as one entity, one soul. Tieran was her mate, and she loved him as impossible as that seemed. It was also the truth. Love could spawn in a matter of minutes or hours, and now all they had to do was keep fanning the flames.

Tieran hit her g-spot, and thoughts of love were replaced with thoughts of overwhelming lust. Pleasure coursed through her as her nails sank into his shoulders, holding on tight.

“Come with me,” he growled into her ear.

Tia felt herself convulse. Her body shook as her orgasm overtook her. She stared into her mate’s eyes, knowing that no trip to heaven or fireworks display could match the beauty that she saw and looked into his eyes. He stared back at her, love shining brightly.

She screamed and moaned as ecstasy coursed through her and all she could do was hang on to the one person she never wanted to let go of. When they finally came down from the high, they realized that the water beating down on them was now cold. Tieran got them out of the shower and dried Tia before he dried himself.

Hand in hand, they went back to her bedroom. Tia snuggled up against Tieran as he got the covers situated over them.

“Tomorrow,” she whispered, “is a new day, and I’m looking forward to every day with you in this new world where our love will continue to grow stronger.”

“I’m going to cherish every minute of it.” She gave him one last kiss and fell asleep.
