Chapter Eighteen

Desmond

I let my eyes wander over the crowd but could neither spot Mia nor Carson yet.

Oh my God.

What if he changed his mind and decided to fire her? Was he waiting for her to clear out her desk?

For a moment, it was as if I saw the scene before my inner eye.

An angry Carson, his arms crossed before his chest, looking on while Mia emptied her drawers. "Leave the shortbread," he ordered and…

"Mr Murray, merry Christmas!" Perky Carson—our CEO's husband who lived up to his name—beamed at me. He was a kind, attractive man and I could see why Carson had married him. I shook the Christmas elf's offered hand.

"To you too, Mr Carson."

There is no way I'll call him ‘Perky'.

"It's good to see you again. Good golly, I miss this place." With a sigh he looked around the room that had been so lavishly decorated it gave the impression a bunch of his fellows had exploded all over it.

"It's good to see you, too. How are you?"

He had retired a few years ago and spent his days mostly volunteering for charities.

"Grand, thank you! Just getting around to the usual, but it's lovely to visit occasionally. I always tell Samuel…" I stopped listening. I really liked the man, but I had more urgent matters on my mind.

I didn't like the idea that Mia might be waiting for me in the storeroom already. I needed to get a move on.

Thankfully my phone buzzing in my back pocket gave me an excuse to duck out of the conversation, but I was replaced instantly by someone from our HR department.

Sweet Thing: Meet me in the storeroom in ten? BBW: On my way !

Outside the door, I checked if anyone was watching but they were all cramped into the meeting room, sharing laughs, and punch, and the lebkuchen Carson had shipped over from a company in Nuremberg for the Christmas party.

Then I slipped inside and locked the door behind me.

"Mia?"

"Here!" A giddy Mia bounded over to where I stood, her cheeks flushed. Flinging her arms around me, she slammed her lips on mine.

Her kiss came so forcefully I stumbled back a step, overwhelmed by her boundless energy for a moment. But God, she lit me on fire.

"He told me he hopes I'll stay for a long time because he's super happy with my work. He said I've made so much progress in the last three months that he's giving me a raise! A raise, Desmond! Can you believe it? And it's all your doing. Thank you, thank you!"

"No." I shook my head when she'd let go and beamed up at me, a smile creeping on my muzzle. "It was you. I just helped you get better with a computer. You did all the work, snowflake."

As if an actual snowflake had landed on her face, Mia scrunched her button nose, then she turned and hurried deeper into the room. Without any trouble thanks to her sweet scent leaving a trail for me in the air, I found her behind the shelf with the stationery.

She'd stepped on the box, bringing her face a bit closer to mine.

"Where are your glasses?" she breathed, getting up on tiptoes to cup my cheek, drawing me in. I slipped my arms around her waist, my hands trailing down her lush body, palming her ass. The tight black skirt she wore accentuated it perfectly. Groaning, I buried my snout into her sweet smelling neck .

"I think I forgot them on my desk. I was too eager to get to the party and to see you."

Mia giggled when my breath tickled her skin.

Everything about her is so soft.

"You realise how funny that sounds?"

"No, I don't. Explain." Enveloping her earlobe with the tip of my tongue, I pulled it between my lips, gently sucking on the sensitive flesh.

"Desmond," she whimpered. "Funny because…" Then her voice trailed off as her breath quickened and soft gasping moans escaped her. "Kiss me, please." Mia sounded desperate to get my mouth on hers but I took my sweet time, firmly running my hand up her back to take hold of her nape. My fingers spanned her entire neck, my thumb and index brushing at her throat.

God, she's so tiny.

Then I leaned back, enjoying her fluttering eyelashes and erratic breathing for a moment longer before slowly pressing a chaste peck on her lips.

"No," she groaned, gripping my fur and fusing our mouths together.

My hungry little snowflake.

Her tongue begged for entrance and I granted it, welcoming the feel of her slick, smooth tongue sliding over my rougher flesh.

With a tiny mewl, Mia pulled away from me, fighting to keep her eyes open, her face flushed, lips bruised and puffy from our kisses.

Fucking. Hell. She's so gorgeous.

"Tell me you have a condom."

"I do, in my wallet. But you don't mean—Not here—" I blustered. She couldn't be serious, could she?

"Get it out," she demanded, leaning back and dropping her hands to my belt.

Does she mean my dick or the condom?

She'd have an even harder time opening my flies. Pun intended. The fabric was stretched almost beyond breaking point.

"Come on, my Big Bad Wolf. Grab the condom, I'm getting desperate here." She bit her lip, piercing me with those pretty cat eyes, her fingers hooked in the waistband of my jeans.

I growled under my breath, and cupped her face in my hands. "The appointment I had yesterday was a follow-up meeting with my urologist. I got an implant a week ago, it's already working. And I got tested and I'm healthy."

She giggled under her breath when my nose bumped hers.Mia loved it when I did that.

"You got an implant? Are you serious?"

I looked at her from under my cocked eyebrow, feeling a smirk tug at my muzzle."Yeah, we can still use condoms of course, but I just wanted to make you feel safe."

"Has anyone ever told you that you have the cheekiest smile, Desmond?" she breathed.

I hummed and traced the lanyard holding the company badge around her neck. Mia's chest heaved, her heart hammering against her chest as I followed the woven band with Frostfire's logo down.

She whimpered my name again when my finger slipped lower still, dipping first into the cleft between her breasts, then inside her bra. I cupped her breast, moulding her flesh and rubbing my furry palm on her nipple.

"Please, Desmond, I—" A low whine of longing escaped her lips.

"Yes?"

"I, we need to—"

I knew she had difficulty getting profanities out, but God, I needed her to talk to me.

"Use your words with me, snowflake. It's just us here, just you"—I carefully twirled her hard tip between my fingers—"and me. It's safe for you to tell me exactly what you want me to do."
