Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Hornet

Istroked my cock with my eyes fixed on Brook, my kitten looked so beautiful as she told me in no uncertain terms what she wanted to do to me. I tried to hold off the coming flood. “You’re being a very naughty kitten right now. If you don’t stop, I might spew on you instead of the wall.”

She slid her cupped hand around in a circle and squeezed. “I’ll bet you taste amazing. I want your cock in my mouth. I want to taste you and suck you until your legs are trembling.”

“Brook, stop. Seriously.”

Her hand went down to slick through her folds and that was all it took for me to shoot my load all over her naked body. The first jet landed across her stomach and the next across her pert breasts, part of me hoped she’d rub it into her skin and wear my scent all day. What she did next was almost as good. She scooped up a glob of it and used it as lube to tease her clit.

“I want you here, filling me up.”

“Fucking hell. The things you do to me, kitten.”

I had an idea. My eyes went to the stool she’d been sitting on, and I made myself comfortable. Despite her obvious keenness I really didn’t want to hurt her, but she clearly wanted more. I leaned back against the wall, my cock already stiff and glistening with my release—what was it with this woman? I was ready to go again like a teenager. “Is that what my naughty kitten wants this morning?”

“You know it is. I spent eight long days dreaming about your cock. It’s not fair to make your new girlfriend wait until she’s aching and desperate for you.”

“Does my new girlfriend want to make herself comfortable.” She turned her back to me and I got a view of her delicious ass before she slowly lowered herself down onto my shaft.

I wrapped one arm around her, making sure to run my fingers through the mess I left on her stomach and then stroked her clit, just like she’d done to herself a few moments ago. She squealed with delight and bounced on my cock. I held her firmly in place and let her set the pace while I teased her with my fingers.

Everything with Brook was beyond any fantasy I’d ever had. No woman had ever done the things she did to arouse me. I would be a truly fortunate man if I could wife her up before anyone stole her attention away from me. When she came and I could feel her pussy clenching around my cock, it was pure ecstasy. I held her tight in my arms and she relaxed back against my chest while jet after jet released inside her. This woman was quickly becoming my whole fucking world. I couldn’t let anything happen to her.

We made it out of the shower in time for a visit from Brook’s mother. Despite Brook’s insistence that her mother didn’t need to know about the accident, I’d called her the night we returned home from the hospital. Her family might be all kinds of fucked up, but a mother is a mother, and she had a right to know. I was prepared to face all kinds of wrath when Brook found out what I’d done, but to my relief she was okay about everything. I went to make coffee while they talked in the living room.

Brook’s mother burst into tears. “Why didn’t you call me? I would have come right away.”

“I know you can’t really go anywhere when the boys are home.”

“Brook, baby. That’s the rule for general socializing, not emergencies.”

“I thought you had enough on your plate, plus I’ve learned to get through all life’s little emergencies alone. Luckily, Hornet was there for me.”

“What do you mean? You aren’t involved in a romantic relationship with your employer, are you? Brook, you know that’s not right.”

This woman made my blood boil. I walked in with coffee, cream, and sugar on a tray with cups. Brook’s eyes lifted to mine when I handed her a cup of coffee. I could tell she wanted me to say something, so I did.

“Brook isn’t really in a position to be a nanny right now, so I promoted her to girlfriend. Just so you know, fiancée and then wife will follow shortly if your daughter would have me.”

I handed the woman a cup of coffee and took a sip of mine while she quietly freaked out. Since I harbored more than a little resentment towards this woman who had thrown her eighteen-year-old daughter out on the streets, I didn’t even feel bad about it. Brook looked stunned, I guess as sort of proposals went, this was probably not the ideal way to go about it.

Her mother looked from me to Brook and back again before asking, “Are you sure about what you’re doing? You know what happened the last time.”

All the color drained from Brook’s face. “Hornet is nothing like Tate. I can’t believe you just said that.”

“Yeah,” I chimed in. “In case you haven’t noticed, I’m wealthy, dashing, and attentive, with the added bonus of not being batshit crazy like her ex.”

Her mother brought her coffee cup to her lips and drank before saying, “I wouldn’t know anything about how you compare to her ex, Mr. Davis.”

“Are you saying you never even met the man your daughter dated for several years?”

Brook clammed up, looking away. It was true then. This woman was no kind of mother at all when it came right down to it.

Her mother stated primly, “We were never in a position where I could meet any of my daughter’s friends.”

“Well, that’s a fairly shitty way to treat your own child. Don’t you think?”

The woman’s eyes widened, and she just stared at me.

Brook sighed. “Don’t, Hornet. It’s not worth rocking the boat.”

“Yes, it is, Brook. You’re worth rocking the boat for and I’m angry that these sorry sons of bitches made you think you were worthless for so many years.”

“Your language is deplorable, Mr. Davis.”

I gaped at the woman sitting across from me with her perfectly styled hair, expensive clothes, and manicured nails. “My language might be deplorable, but your mothering skills are more so. You threw your eighteen-year-old daughter out and made her feel that it was all her fault, when it was you who couldn’t keep your legs closed. What do you have to say about that?”

“Did you invite me here to insult me?” The self-righteous indignation in her voice was pissing me off even more.

“Hell no. You getting a piece of my mind was a direct result of you trying to shit on one of the few things that’s actually good in your daughter’s life. You might see me as no-good biker trash, but I care about how you treat the woman I love. Did you ever think that letting your husband throw her out of the house the second she turned eighteen, not letting her see her brothers, and sneaking around to have coffee when you have time to grace her with your presence, might end up causing her to have self-esteem issues?”

“We’re all suffering in our own ways. You don’t get to judge my family until you’ve gone through what we have.”

“Lady, I’ve been shot at in Afghanistan and almost left for dead, fought off gangsters to keep this town safe, and picked up your daughter’s bloody broken body when she got run off the road by some maniac who tried to kill her. The only damn thing your family has grappled with was you cheating on your husband all those years ago. People cheat and break up. They cheat and make up. They cheat and stay friends. Sometimes, they cheat and remain bitter enemies. What they don’t do is pick out one kid and punish them for the rest of their fucking life because one of the parents cheated.”

It was harsh, and the moment the words came out of my mouth I regretted it, as Brook’s mom started crying. Grabbing some tissues, I handed them to her. “I’m sorry, as your daughter can testify to, sometimes I speak without thinking what I’m saying. I shouldn’t have spoken to you that way.”

“No, I deserved it, it’s the truth. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have been so quick to judge you. After you called last night about Brook, I was inconsolable. To think that she had almost died and didn’t want me to know, I know my husband is an exceptionally stubborn man and has his faults, but…” She paused and fixed Brook with her glistening eyes. “Brook, darling. I’m always your mother and I’m always there for you. I didn’t protect you when you needed me most, and for that I will always feel ashamed that I failed you—”

“Mom, don’t,” Brook said tearfully. “I know it wasn’t easy for you, what with Dylan and Caleb and everything that was happening. I forgive you.”

With that Brook flung her good arm around her mom and they both hugged on the sofa.

“You say the word and I’ll beat some of stubbornness right out of him. Right now, he’s ruining everyone’s lives because he’s butthurt over something that happened over two decades ago. The man needs to get over himself.”

The older woman wiped at her tears. “Despite his actions, he’s a good man.”

“Are you kidding me? He’s been twisted up about this for years, and you weren’t even together when it happened? That’s unfathomable to me.”

“I would have left him when he threw Brook out, but I could never take care of the boys financially on my own.”

“Half of everything that man owns belongs to you. If you ever want to divorce him, I’ll pay for the damn lawyer!”

“Hornet, you’re interfering in my life again, going too far.” Brook’s eyes were blazing as she turned to me.

“I’m not your controlling, abusive ex. I just thought your mom needed to know that she had options, she doesn’t have to stay in that relationship if she doesn’t want to.”

“You don’t know how difficult he can be. No one does.”

“No, Brook, your friend is absolutely right. This has gone on long enough, I need to make a stand.”

“Do you want us to help you? Or me, I should say. Because I think Brook has seen enough action for this year, if not her entire lifetime. If not, I could lend you my baseball bat. If he starts getting out of control, you can tune him up a bit. It works every time.” Holding up two fingers, I said as innocently as possible, “Scouts honor.”

Brook’s mother gave me an assessing look. “You’re a troublemaker. I can see that now.”

“Okay, I was joking about the baseball bat, but I work for a security company, we specialize in personal protection, so the offer is there. Unlock your phone and give it to me. I’m going to put my cell number in there so you can call if you ever need some backup.”

Surprisingly, she did as I asked. I pulled up her contact list, added my number and quickly handed it back. “So, do you need the baseball bat or not today, ma’am?”

Brook laughed. “You’re leaning into this bad boy biker role a little hard today, babe.”

Relieved she’d forgiven me for my latest attempt at interfering, I leaned over and gave her a quick kiss as my little one started squalling. “I’ll get her. You finish visiting with your mom.”

“If I had two hands, I’d get the baby and leave you here with her, since you’ve gotten her all riled up now.”

I heard them talking and laughing as I walked upstairs. That might have been an unconventional way to go about breaking the ice with my prospective mother-in-law, but the woman needed to get her head in the game and stop letting her husband fucking ruin her life over one mistake. The two of them needed to sort their shit out and stop making my Brook suffer over it.

I opened the nursery door and realized this daughter of mine was developing a fantastic set of lungs. I quickly soothed her, changed her diaper, wiped her down with baby wipes, and got her dressed. Babies were a lot of work, but they were well worth it, or at least mine was.

I took Ariel downstairs and settled her into Brook’s good arm, then wandered off to the kitchen to make her a bottle. When I came back, Brook and her mother were on the sofa looking at my wide-eyed daughter.

Her mother glanced up at me with a huge smile on her face. “You, Mr. Davis, make beautiful babies.”

“The verdict is still out on that, I’m afraid. This one was a gift from my best friend.” Glancing at Brook, I realized I’d never told her the full story. “Her father passed away from cancer while she was still growing in her mother’s belly. Unfortunately, her mother died in childbirth. Since none of their family was in a position to take the baby, guardianship fell to me. She’s turned into a blessing. Just between you and me, I think Brook’s more interested in my little one than me.”

Her mother stared at me for a moment. “Why do I get the feeling there is still something you’re not telling us?”

“I almost died in Afghanistan. My battle buddy carried me out on his back. He took a bullet because carrying me slowed him down. I owed him a life debt and can’t think of any better way to repay it than making sure his daughter is loved and has an amazing life.”

Both Brook and her mother were blinking back tears. I glanced away, not accustomed to sharing my deepest secrets. “Anyway. I made her a breakfast bottle. Would you like to feed her, or should I?”

“I’ll do it,” Brook said.

“I can spend the day with Brook if there is somewhere you need to be,” her mother offered.

“Oh, there’s somewhere I need to be alright, some club business cropped up while your daughter was in hospital.” I hadn’t told Brook what my club brothers and I had discovered. I figured she had enough on her plate. Part of me was worried that she’d think I was trying to interfere in her life again—but there was a world of difference between doing extra background checks, and trying to find a potential killer.

Her mother made the go away gesture. “Go, I’ve got this.”

“You okay if I pop out for an hour or two, kitten?”

Brook nodded and I bent down and gave her a kiss on the top of the head and then did the same for my little one. I stood up and looked Brook’s mother in the eyes. “You have my number. Call me if anything happens.”

“Don’t worry. I won’t leave them until you come back.”

“Thanks. I owe you one,” I said.

I walked out the door and texted my club brothers that the hunt was on.
