Riftverse Terminlogy

*Warning, this list has potential spoilers*

Clone-created from DNA and modified through trade secrets involving quantum physics, wormholes, and the Company scientists.

Android/Droid-am artificially intelligent creation that is technologically advanced far beyond human capabilities including bodily functions, charging, and sentience. Created by Donatella, Victor, and Caesar prior to the Conflict and continually improved upon by a team of their creations.

The Rift- A pocket dimension that the Company HQ and staff, along with humans of the Cabal and Resistance live in.

Bytes 'N Chips- A dive bar used for one of the portals to The Rift as well as a frequent recruiting location.

Dirty Deeds- A bar created by Sari that was the location of unspeakable debauchery. How it was destroyed is unsubstantiated.

The Maison- Delilah's enormous home. It is the epicenter of Resistance activity.

The Cabal- A human governing body put in place by the Company to keep the human inhabitants in line.

The Resistance- Originally, the rebels and droids that fought the Cabal/Company in the Conflict. Currently, the inhabitants of Deli's hidden city.

Claiming/Marking- A ritual involving biting that is akin to engagement for clones and some droids.

Mating- A ritual like marriage that involves biting, claiming, blood exchange, and marking.

Apparate/Disapparate- A form of travel used by some clones and magicks users that is similar to teleportation.

Sacred Space- The anointed space a magick user keeps to perform rituals and spells. Only Deli has one.

The Zoo- The new karaoke bar Sari and Belle opened without permission.

The Company- A mysterious organization that created The Rift, runs the secret Project Reality, and maintains surveillance on the inhabitants of The Rift. Allegedly, they are a private mercenary organization with no ties to any government, criminals, or other governing bodies that operate as both white and black hats if you can afford them.

Familiar-An animal that facilitates magick for an extranormal, also serves as a companion and protector.

The Beast- The name for the sentient panther shifter inside of the Delilah.

Demon- All of the clones are created with one based on their template and the droids are also programmed with one if it suits their template.

Template- The base appearance and personality of the droid/clone. These were decided by the scientists of the Company and mirror a cast of individuals they cloned/passed through the wormholes.

Oversight-The individual that runs the Company. He/She is unknown to those without Alpha Level Clearance.

Clearance Level- Those involved with the Company have clearance levels for access to information and systems. It is based on the Greek alphabet with Alpha being the highest level with the least individuals.

The Conflict- The war between the droids and the clones (Resistance and Cabal) that resulted from the caste system the Cabal created.

The Battle of Blood and Steel- The final battle of the Conflict prior to peace talks.

The Creation- This refers to the process of the creating the first three clones and the subsequent process refinement.

Other Place/Side/Real World- Earth, circa now-ish

Project Reality- The name for the experiment the Company is running that contains the inhabitants of The Rift. They are unaware.

Portal- The pathway to The Rift from Earth. The main one is located in Bytes 'N Chips, but there are more throughout Earth. Those who can apparate do not always use them.
