Chapter 37
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Noah
I took Ella's hand, and something shifted in my chest. I was the guardian of her heart, and I would always take that seriously. Everything finally felt right.
Honestly, I didn't hear much as my father performed the ceremony. I just felt him nudge me. I turned and gave him a questioning look; then I noticed that the audience was laughing, and I focused on Ella again.
She leaned forward. "He just asked if you would take me as your bride."
I grinned and said, "Yes." Then I flashed a smile at the audience, and everyone laughed again.
Before I knew it, my father was announcing, "Please congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Noah and Ella Armstrong."
I took this opportunity to kiss her and dip her back. Everyone clapped, but I wasn't doing it for them. I kissed her longer and felt her giggle against my lips. Then I set her back on her feet and gave her a dazzling smile. She laughed, her cheeks flushing a beautiful pink.
People were still clapping as we rushed down the aisle and out of the church. We had decided we would do a reception on the church grounds with the little gazebo and a large grassy area. We'd had a tent set up and a table loaded with food inside, and the band was already playing.
"Are you sure we can't just skip this and go straight to the honeymoon?" I asked Ella.
She winked and leaned up for a kiss. "I want to honeymoon with you, Mr. Armstrong, for the rest of my life. So what's the hurry?"
I deepened the kiss and held her tighter, thinking about spending the future with her and going on many, many trips together. I pulled back and smiled. "As long as I have you next to me, I'll never be in a hurry again."
