Chapter Fifteen

Aiden

Aiden's dreams had been a collage of all the moments that had led him to having Rocky as his Daddy. It had only been a couple of days but so much had happened. Aiden lay still not wanting to disturb his new Daddy's sleep. He was prepared to wait as long as he needed. To keep his mind off of his growing urgency to use the toilet, Aiden reflected on the events from his dreams. He of course started with the mind-blowing orgasm of the night before and worked his way back all the way to the moment he bonked his head. Thank goodness he'd been in such a rush.

Wait. He'd been in such a rush. He'd been rushing because...

Aiden sat up in a flash not only disturbing his Daddy's sleep but almost knocking him clear out of the bed. How the hell could he have forgotten? Aiden leapt from the bed almost faster than he'd sat up and hurried to the toilet. He quickly did his business as Rocky called out in the background. He washed his hands and sped through the room to his bags, calling over his shoulder, "I have to get to the bar! I forgot to check!"

"Check what?" Rocky called out but Aiden didn't bother explaining more. There was no point unless Aiden's suspicions proved true. Aiden had never been one to jump to conclusions. He believed in having proof and even then he wasn't sure anything was one-hundred percent. Something either was or it wasn't.

Aiden hurried through dressing and rushed his Daddy through his own morning routine. He needed to get to his office. Aiden didn't breathe easily until they were in the car and on their way to the Hell Hole, or Devil's Playground, now. The sun had yet to rise over the horizon but shades of light pink were painting the landscape in their soft warm glow. Aiden studied the scene from the passenger window as he went over in his head where he would start and where to go from there. He wouldn't stop until he'd found what he was looking for or covered every possibility in his search.

Rocky

Rocky pulled into the lot beside the Devil's Playground, unsure if it was safe to park on the new asphalt yet. There was no way he'd be calling Blade at this ungodly hour to check. Rocky was many things but suicidal was not one of them. He stretched and yawned as he exited the car. He'd have put a stop to this madness first thing if it hadn't been obvious his boy wouldn't rest until he'd looked into whatever idea had jerked him awake. Still, Rocky was too damn old to be going on so little sleep.

Rocky's heart warmed when he reached the passenger door to find that Aiden had waited patiently for him. He opened the door and reached in to undo the belt. Knowing it was too early for anyone to be there, when Rocky found himself focusing on Aiden's mouth, he didn't resist this time. He took Aiden's lips in a kiss that conveyed all the affection Rocky seemed to be finding himself consumed with. With each passing minute, Aiden was wrapping himself more firmly around Rocky's heart and wrapping Rocky more firmly around his finger. When Rocky broke the kiss, both men were breathing heavily despite its gentle nature.

Rocky adjusted himself, yet again, before helping Aiden from the vehicle. He led Aiden to the side door, navigating by the growing light. Once inside, Aiden took off toward his office, only slowing when Rocky shouted, "No running!"

Rocky shook his head. Whatever it was that his boy suspected, running about was going to get him another knock to his noggin if he wasn't careful. Rocky found himself following behind Aiden to make sure he was being safe with whatever he was up to. When he reached the door to Aiden's office, he was shocked to find his organized boy tearing his office apart.

Aiden

Aiden tossed another book behind him. The bookshelf was close enough, and though it might be less effective to use the areas behind a book, it could also go much longer without being detected. It didn't seem the traitor had been quite that clever though. Going for the other end of the intelligence spectrum, Aiden checked in the pot of the small succulent on his desk. Still, nothing.

Aiden checked his computer. If it were there, it would have been tossed out when he tossed his last one but whoever was working against them could have replaced it as easily as Aiden had replaced the computer. There was nothing on his new machine, however. He checked the lamp, the sofa, and the coffee table. Placing his hands on his hips, he made his way back to his desk and inspected all of the drawers. He came up empty again and searched his office for any other place it could be. He couldn't see any other thing with an appropriate surface, so there was only one possibility left. It was the most obvious and he likely should have checked there first. Their enemy wasn't smart enough to cover their tracks well, why would Aiden assume he'd been smart about this either?

Aiden climbed under his desk using the flashlight on his phone to illuminate the area. He'd been using his fingers to feel around but when he finally saw it closer to the front, where he sat, he realized he wouldn't need his finger. The listening device was big enough that, had he been regularly searching, he'd have found it easily. Leaving the bug where it was, Aiden climbed from under his desk and headed out of his office, toward the next one. A heavy weight settled in his belly. He hadn't realized he was still holding on to a shred of hope that it wasn't an inside job until that last spark of hope died. No one could have gotten close enough to the back offices without being a full member of the club. Even prospects weren't allowed back there.
